Heather.
Kill the DJ has been getting a lot of positive attention from all the early listeners...many have said it's their favorite. The fact that they used the awesome instrumental in the Uno trailer (we think) also suggests they're really proud of it... you would think they would use the trailer songs as singles (that also would keep the album spoilers to a minimum!).... although I really can't imagine Fuck Time being a single You never know though... Amy's been hyped too, I think it has a chance as a Dos single (especially if, by that point, GD has put out several rockin' songs, it would be OK to mix it up with the ballad). Wouldn't that be nucking futs if the singles off of Dos were Fuck Time and Amy? It's also just bizarre now that we know how the marketing will work... we'll get to listen to three or four songs, but not all of them will be singles... justcause
Blah, I've been offline for about six weeks and I don't even know where to place my reactions in this thread, so here. This is gonna be so fucking great - this is gonna be the fucking coolest thing EVER. I'm so excited by the sounds, the titles for Uno read like chapters from a cult novel, the artwork is a blast of impulsive energy, fucking love the colors. The placing of the releases is fucking masterly - 'cause like, with 21CB, it may have been a three-act thing, but it was one cd and that's how I listened to it. With Uno-Dos-Tre, it's paced to give each one its space, like, just enough, and still be fucking punchdrunk when the last one drops. It's gonna be fucking delirious!! And right now I'm like a cat basking in the sun at the prospect of it. Green Day.
pieterv
…Wouldn't that be nucking futs if the singles off of Dos were Fuck Time and Amy? … This just shows how hard these albums are going to be marketing wise, yet the first signs of martketing are promising. Not only are people going to be confused about 3 albums, the singles to pick to represent these are very hard too, they probably want to show people there's variety and themes amongst the albums but Fuck Time and Amy show how big the variety inside one album is also going to be. What do you play to the mainstream media? A new sound? A more familiar sound? A slower song or an upbeat song? When do you start advertising which album? Let's just say I don't envy the people that are in charge of that right now
spacesauce
Insomniac was deemed a failire because Dookie was 4 x platinum while Mumford goibg 2x on their debut album and in this era a sucess now if their next cd sells less than 2x then they'll be failures as well... But who cares about sells... The other issue to point out is albums sell differently now. Unfortunately, going 2x platinum in 2012 is A LOT MORE difficult than doing that in the 90s. It's not really comparable. The reason the next M&S album will be anticipated is that they were a heavy word of mouth band when they first came out. The album had a quiet debut and then grew to sell a modest/solid amount for months and months. They'll have a whole different promotion plan this time around.... But enough about that.... I'm really anticipating the album version of Amy. I love the song and can't wait to hear the final produced version. Anyone think it will be one of the singles? Heather.
I'm really anticipating the album version of Amy. I love the song and can't wait to hear the final produced version. Anyone think it will be one of the singles? I'm definitely getting the feeling Amy will be a single. First of all, it's fucking beautiful, and that was before they fleshed it out and added strings. OK, there's a part of me that fears it'll be overdone and lose the simple beauty that was the acoustic live version we have (that I've listened to dozens of times), but for the most part I'm trusting that they've only made it better. I believe both Rolling Stone and Billboard mentioned the glory that is Amy, and although Dos is sure to have a lot of spectacular party songs, I think they will probably release Amy as a single because they're going to put out at least three songs before that comes out (Oh Love, something on August 13, something Mid-September), and those songs are likely to be power-pop-punk whatever. Amy will be a welcome change of pace and even if the masses are confused by "This is Green Day?" it won't matter because of how beautiful it is. That was my desperate ode to Amy! I think it deserves to be heard by more people. I think the world would appreciate it.

Todd
I'm actually hoping for "Kill the DJ" to be the next single. 'Cause people who just listen to the radio and aren't real Green Day fans only know Green Day for BOBD and 21 Guns, so to have Kill the DJ as their next single would actually show those people, who assume that Green Day just play "emo" music, the more Rock n Roll sound of Green Day. And also, from the preview for iUNO!, Kill the DJ sounds like an awesome song! Fuck Yeah! Im so fucking sick and tired of all the scumbags that thing Green Day is emo and they wear makeup and shit. They're all brainwashed androids that are influenced by the radio and the three Green Day songs that are ever played on the radio. There are no punk stations where I live. Even with XM radio, I cant find just a punk station. I want Ramones! I want Rancid! All these chumps don't know the difference between emo, skater, and punk. They just group all that shit together, when it's nothing alike. I hope Uno Dos and Tre will be a huge sucess. I want all those good for nothing jerks to here Green Day blasting full power punk over the airwaves! This trelogy will show everyone who Green Day is! Don't judge a band by their most sucessful album. Judge them by their roots!

Heather.
It's pretty great instrumental! I really hope some of the press we get out of all this WILL BE Uno-specific... as thrilled as I am to hear about Dos and Tre, I want to try to appreciate every album individually as they arrive, and savor them as precious children Hearing the description of Little Boy Named Train--that's the kind of thing I hope we get for Uno soon---an explanatory play-by-play with anecdotes about where the songs on Uno came from. They did that with 21CB, going through the album and offering insight into the songs. I hope that kind of journalism doesn't get lost amid a broader media approach, y'know? Y'know. Comic Sans
I think they will release Carpe Diem as second single, and Nuclear Family/Stay The Night as third single (GD confirmed there will be 3 singles off of Uno, y'know? )
Ritz
So much news flowing around lately. All this is getting so exciting, just cant wait to hear it all I think its time for a 'summary of all the news' post on GDA.

Liam
Do some of you think that "Like a rat does cheese" will be on one of the albums?? we did saw a rat in one of the studio-update... I highly doubt it will be. It doesn't really have the new Green Day sorta sound we've been hearing. Also its an old song that was performed back on radio in 2001 so I don't see why they'd wait till now to release such a stupid song. I could be wrong because who knows with Green Day, I just find it very unlikely.

sara_gd
This has probably been discussed thousand of times, but what are the advantages of preording the albums? Billboard said something about them being released together with the documentaries, but I didn't understand that much... or they didn't make it clear... The thing is that I would much prefer to go to the shop the day of their release and buy them, but if I'm going to save a considerable amount of money or I'm going to have extra stuff, I'll consider preording tomorrow. Thank you!!!
Liam
I've only found preordering useful when its a preorder to get something exclusive. Every time I've preordered just a normal CD I've usually gone into the store to find they still have 100 of copies. Also when you preorder it on some sites they sometimes won't ship it out till the day it gets released. So unless its a preorder exclusive, its your decision really to preorder it or not, it will most likely not make a difference.
