The Trilogy Albums: ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré!

I really don't think the record label is going to use green day to try make more money for themselves. The main man at their record label is in the studio with them and is good friends with the band. I don't think Rob would use Green Day like that.

I agree, I don't think he'd do that to them :ermm:

I'm so excited for these new albums! When Billie tweeted the news last night, I thought it was a joke like the cassette thing. My mouth dropped when I kept on seeing articles about this. 2012 is going to be awesome as fuck for music! :D

I think if you've always preferred Mike then you're a fan of the wrong band mate... they've clearly organised it to play to each of the members strengths and whilst Mike is a good singer, Billie is the frontman, the leader, the captain, the boss etc...

So everyone must prefer Billie over Mike and Tré just because he is the (sic) boss? It's because of people thinking like that and not giving credits to the other members that so many bands break up. It doesn't matter that Billie is the frontman, or whatever, every member of Green Day is equally important and fundamental to the band.

I was listening to the radio today, and the announcer guy playing Working Class Hero, the GD version, and then talked about the 3 albums afterward. Made my day.

I was thinking about this. It would be wicked if they released like 3 or 4 singles from each album with a video. I hope they don't focus on just one album for singles/music videos.

I really can't see how they'll do it though. I mean the singles for 21stCBD was released over a period of almost a year.

So if they do it that way they will still be releasing singles for Uno when Tré is released..

I have a few thoughts.

Ditto....I enjoyed reading yours, and this seems like as good a place as any to post mine. :)

1. HOLY FUCKING FUCKBALLS!!! :runaround::dance::bunny::yay: (obvious).

2. My own life philosophy of doing anything purposefully comes from something I learned in swing-dancing: having just a few moves in your arsenal that you lead really well beats the hell out of a whole bunch of moves led poorly. Applied here, it means under ordinary circumstances, I'd be concerned about getting too many mediocre cuts spread out over an excessively long song list as opposed to just one album filled with the cremé de la cremé (others have expressed this view already too).

3. That being said, Green Day is no ordinary band, and Rob Cavallo is no ordinary producer. He's known them intimately since Dookie (sidetrack to Butch Vig on 21stCB aside) and is probably THE only producer in the world who'd be able to coach them through this effort and help them pull it off. What's more, he's also sitting at the executive level of Warner while having his own skin in this particular game at the same time. Under this set of circumstances, the chance of Green Day borking the album quality -- or of Warner fucking up the single selection and marketing of U-D-T like they did with 21stCB -- is, like, well, nil. To summarize: in Rob I trust.

4. On the subject of album titles -- taken together, I love 'em. A wordplay/bad pun on Tre's name for the third album seems particularly appropriate for a band that doesn't give a shit what anyone else thinks.

5. On the subject of the title of the third album -- just what we need, something ELSE to go to Tre's head. :eyebrows::shifty::shok:

5. (I've said this in other places already) New band mottos should be "Green Day: If it's worth doing, it's worth OVERdoing" or "Green Day: When ONE fucking amazing album just isn't enough" (Andres - those are some bumper sticker ideas for you!)

6. It was hard enough learning 18 new songs before the 2009/2010 tour. How the hell am I going to learn 20-30!!??

7. The only thing you can EVER expect from Green Day is the unexpected. It's easier trying to predict the weather.

I'm sure I'll have more thoughts later -- that's enough for now.

I can say the names of thae albums in sequence faster than Mike and Billie :P......

I'm really confused about the singles. I think it will be done like they would do for 1 album. Uno Dos Tre is just 1 album in 3 volumes? or 3 different albums?

Green Day albums are a lot like buses: you wait for ages for one and then three come along at once!

Haha, I'm just starting to believe this now. It's so unusual, it's hard to get your head around.

Uno! comes out 2 days before my birthday, anyone wanna get me a birthday present?

Mike: Concise argument, no bullshit

Billie: Clearly has thought about it, but can't quite figure out how to explain his problem with it to the interviewer

Tre: Hey I've got a funny oneliner!

When I see them in interviews I don't get how Billie can be the songwriter of the bunch :P

whats this from?

It would be AWESOME if they did their tour like this:

Each place they go to, they play for three nights. Night one would be ¡Uno! front to back with back catalog mixed in. Night two is ¡Dos! front to back and again with back catalog stuff. Then the same for Trè......

And you buy one ticket for all three nights. All for less than $100....

Uno Dos Tre is just 1 album in 3 volumes? or 3 different albums?

That's a decent question and I'm not sure it matters.... it probably does. When Billie said he thinks there's a story, I don't think it's gonna be like a story story...

Obviously Reprise and the boys know what's up and have a plan for the release, and I can't wait to find out more details. The "trilogy" and Uno Dos Tre announcement was extremely simple and a lot to absorb, I think they're giving us time to get used to it before actually explaining to us how the hell this will logistically work

ETA: Off of what Matt just said: I'm worried how their shows will go when they have SO MUCH new material that they think is amazing, but I also need to hear all the old material too.

ETA2: When does American Idiot become "old material"? Probably by the next tour!

I hear a lot of complaints about the album names... You guys do realize that they're 'bad' on purpose, right? This is totally their sense of humor...

I can see them sitting in a room... 'oh shit, we're releasing three albums. What do we call them...? ' '1, 2, and 3...' 'Uno! Dos! Tre!' 'heheheheheh... y'know, I like that...'

And honestly, who cares what they're called?!

You have to realize that we're going to get a lot of songs that they've taken a long time to tweak, like 'Stay the Night'. A year ago, Mike said that they had tons of songs waiting around and we'd hear them all eventually (he said it to DJRosstar and I at the Frustrators event at Dr Strange records, if you're wanting reference of that)...

And for those of you who are using 'I didn't like 21CB' as a reason for not being excited... I have two things to say...

1. Your loss

2. Rob Cavallo

I agree with this, I mean, their first huge international success is called 'crap', that kind of things is typical Green Day. Still, 21stCB is kinda unhandy as a name.

I really wish they had called Insomniac 'Jesus Christ Supermarket".

As for singles, they maybe get them as if they were a sole album splitted in 3 or something and then they still release Uno singles even when Dos or Tré are out

Maybe I'm just thinking way too much like a business lady, because that's what I'm studying. But to me it seems pretty naive to think that they won't try to make as much money as possible just because the producer is friends with the band. =/ But I don't wanna start an argument about this now, because we won't even know till next year, so it doesn't matter anyway.

Wouldn't it be cool if Green Day, knowing that they are going to put out three albums, put them out at a really low price...like $5 each?

I would love that. I don't know what's the price in the States, but here a GD album costs about 20€.

I can just say to GD something Billie sais to the audience once:

"You guys fucking rule, man! Thank you!"

I would love that. I don't know what's the price in the States, but here a GD album costs about 20€.

When it's new, right? Now I can get Nimrod or AI for 10€ or AAF CD + DVD for 11.90€

I don't think Uno!, Dos!, or Tre! will be sold under a lower price because I think they are releasing 3 seperate albums just to get more money, so I bet they will be selling each under the real album price.

I was wondering: Will they remake some old song like they did for Welcome to Paradise? It would be awesome for 1 or two songs.I see that really unlikely though, but I'd love to see a higher quality Going to Pasalacqua,or a sax version King for a Day

Yes, but here older CD just cost 15 € instead of 20€... not that much of a difference, is it

I'm curious to see the distribution of songs... if it's thematic or what. Because on the one hand, you want the first album to be the best so people will actually want to hear Dos and Tre. But you can't put all your best songs in the first one because then the next two will be flops. But then if you try to make each equally good, you might wind up with 3 mediocre albums. IDK. I'm just being a worrywart. I would like to believe that every album is iconic and that's why they're pulling such a badass, almost cocky move.

They HAVE to be super confident in all three of them to do something like this, don't you think?

I really don't think it's for the money as someone just said.
