Thanks, and Yeah I love RHCP and Queen :D

The bass on Rage Against The Machine is cool too :P

P.S. I'm a bassist ! So, yeah I love bass :)

check out NOFX and Rancid. especially Rancid's matt freeman puts a lot of effort into nice basslines.

i would suggest you to listen to Rancid's "...and Out Come The Wolves" and NOFX's "The Decline" or "The War On Errorism"

@sixtrix: haha that reminds me of them playing the grouch at a kids show

What really would be a stunt is if they would play Fuck Time during the Super Bowl.

hehe i'd love it if they did that, first release it as a single and then play it during the Super Bowl, poor conservative mummys

haha that was great

i wonder how many parents would write a letter to Billie if they really heard It's Fuck Time on the radio or even on the Super Bowl  ...but oh well, Billie could just recycle the old letter xD

I don't really know why mommies even think of letting little kids listen punk and rock. C'mon, woman, they are known for being explicit and swearing a lot! If they wrote more reject letters to Green Day because of Fuck Time, I'd really look forward to their answer!

well, the last time a mummy wrote a letter, it was cos the kid's grandma bought it for his birthday and the mom didn't know anything of the explicit content and she somehow also thought that Dookie didn't have any explicit content and likes that album, a bit weird, but oh well  ...i guess most parents don't really know that it has explicit content...most parents just know songs like KYE or 21 Guns with no explicit content, so no wonder they let the kids listen to GD :D and same here, i'd also really look forward to their answer xD

I don't even get why some parents don't let kids listen to some kind of music or musicians, I find it stupid. I mean those songs I find worst is the songs you can't not hear. S&M by Rihanna for an example. I heard some 2nd grades listen to that at school one time, but they probably have no idea what it's about so that's fine.

Also I wonder if they'll say that It's Fuck Time is a Foxboro Hot Tubs cover

Well, that's a good point too. But I would never show my children a song which has explicit content. However, I undersatnd they'll learn those words from their classmates at school anyway, so if he got to listen to it I'd just let him listen to it but tell him not to repeat any of the words on it or I'll punish him.

Thanks for letting us know how you'll raise your kids in the Trilogy Album thread!

What do you mean with explicit? Also I'll never get why people are so afraid of swear words. If you don't use it too much I don't see a problem with it. My first English word was "fuck" because that was what my mom always said when she dropped something  I do get the problem with swear words now though now I think about it, because when I was in middle school where there also were small kids, it was like everytime you walked pass them, one of them said a swear word =/ But saying that you can't use the words at all is stupid I think.

This is stupid. Most swear words are used to show emotion. I had an English teacher who would let us use them in papers as long as we were using them to show emotion and not just to use them (and I went to a christian school). Besides one day all little kids grow up and start using them so why not let them listen to good music?

Anyways, I'd think it would be hilarious if It's Fuck Time was made into a single. Imagine how they would have to censor it, and a music video! Oh my gosh it would be awesome.

I wouldn't let them say them because of you see a 5 year old saying those words, you automatically look like the worst parents ever.

Now, on topic, Fuck Time is so good that it's hard to think of a better single from what I've heard so far. Also, I think non-GD fans would just think it's funny and all and maybe look into Green Day to see if they have more like that and like what they see and start liking Green Day too so they get more fans :)

Now, on topic,

OH MY GOD what did you just say!

Sorry I was being sarcastic, it won't happen again

Edit: great, page own!

This is my opinion too.

A music video? I haven't even thought of that yet. That would be. YESS  Now I really want it as a single!

I know right! It would either be really funny because of all the censoring or just really kick ass, or BOTH!

I will cross my fingers for a music video for that, that's for sure!

Well I personally doubt it'll be a single. Imagine all the censoring

"Oh baby baby its ___ time!"

I'd be waiting for someone to ask is it a strange cover of It's Chico Time

It would be great if it was censored to "It's Funk Time".... basically calling for no change in how I choose to hear and sing along :D

That's why it would be a great single (and by great I mean funny)!

I really do doubt it as well, but a person can dream.

This is steppin' out a little but if you play bass check out Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. You might already know Vic Wooten (of Bela) if you're a bassist. If not, check him out and read about his style. It's unique to say the least.

Vic:

Thanks a lot ! No I never heard of him, I bass-ically follow Stu Hamm's lessons. And I think we're too off-topic here. :P

I suppose you're right but if I just turned on a bassist to Vic Wooten (even if not for several years), my work here is done ;)

I have just started with bass, its been a year and thanks again, I will surely check it out but after 22nd June (exams are on, my parents won't let me touch my bass :P )

Stu Hamm is the fucking man. And the walking bass line in whatever song was playing over the trailer makes me excited for non-root note Dirnt.

I'm so excited to see what the Trilogy gives us in terms of Bass, I think it will be the Mike Dirnt we have never seen before !

How many hours have I spent reading through this forum now? Hahaha I don't even want to know.

Ok, for sure some are more "thought provoking" than others but in reality none are that deep and some are just goofy and fun, LIKE UNO. Worth noting that AAF isn't on this list.

Let's see. 2 albums have the band looking rather melancholy. Then we have Kerplunk which is a chick with a gun. Certainly cool but not "thought provoking", and then there is Nimrod. I know every time I see Nimrod, I have to read Alexander Pope and drift in to mindless wonder. (sarcasm).

Without a doubt, IMHO, the best album cover they've had is AI from a poetic stand point but even that is really just in your face.

But in reality, my favorite albums are the ones where there is an explosion in the crowd, or a chick holding a gun, or stamps that say Nimrod over Eisenhower and Truman. Of course the one where Billy has a shit eating grin and his eyes Xd out, isn't that bad OR D I F F E R E N T.

I actually think that all of them have quite a bit of thought and story in them. For something to be "thought provoking", it doesn't have to be some riveting, mind-blowing, Inception-like idea, it just has to be something that makes you think a little. Even something with a little humor and whimsy, like many past Green Day album covers, can achieve that.

Although I agree that Kerplunk isn't as dramatically striking as AI, the simplicity of the cover does make me think. I love the contradiction between this seemingly innocent girl and the fact that she is holding a gun. Even the cutesy font used in the artwork draws me in, making me wonder why this weapon belongs in this girl's story.

I feel like I have spent a fair amount of my time analyzing each and every album cover (with the exception of the live albums) to find their meanings and relations to its music. Although I am yet to understand how that modest photo belongs with the upbeat songs of "Warning", I have been pretty impressed by most of Green Day's artwork. Besides maybe Nirvana, they're the only band I can think of who has perfectly captured the passion, rebellion or spirit of thier music perfectly in their album covers every time.

While I like the variety that Uno's cover shows, I think I need to listen to its contents before I can judge whether or not it is a successful cover. As of now, it just doesn't seem that unique compared to a lot of album artwork I have already seen from other bands.

Mike is fine for backing vocals, and Tre’s country twang is great for silly songs, but an entire album of either would just be pretty bad.

Billie Joe is the lead singer, and long may it stay that way.

I don't think that Tre or Mike are bad singers at all! That said, I agree that Billie will always be Green Day's only true singer. I LOVE Mike's backup vocals, and Tre's cameo vocals (or whatever you call "Rock n Roll Girlfriend" and "All By Myself") are great for adding emphasis and humor. However, a whole song- or album- of them singing? It would ruin the rarity of hearing their voices.

Ahh sorry for writing so much!!!

I'm cool with any song they'll choose as single. But if it's IFT, I wouldn't like them to censor neither the song and the video  I've plenty of reasons to be against this, but one of them is that ALL the videos from American Idiot are censored (and even in International Supervideos! the words are "kind" of censored) and I understand the "strong" words are considered a bad influence, but in this video of cee-lo green singing the whole time "fuck you", those words weren't censored at all. I also know he changed it to "forget you", but it bothered me that sometimes they censor only certain things they want (at least on the tv in my country), when they should do it with everything if they think swear words are wrong.

Besides, why should you change your lyrics when you wrote what you felt and what you did mean to say?

Sometimes people give more importance to small things instead of caring for what it really needs attention.
