Nemo.
but, why does it matter if Green Day are "mainstream"? why always make that sound like a bad thing? be happy that they still play Green Day on the radio instead.. no not really. it only annoys my when people are talking with me about green day and the say they love them and the only songs they know are WMUWSE and 21 guns. and i don't like it when bands are hyped. Raven93
Ok, gotta take the gloves off now...... They own their own sets and ride a fucking BUS when they tour so they can keep their ticket prices low enough for people who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford to go. You've got acts like Madonna, U2, Springsteen, even (retch) RIHANNA charging $200+ a seat for a 90-minute phone-it-in performance...and then there's Green Day. For less than $100 you can have literally the time of your life in the pit or the 100-level seats, watching one of modern rock's most potent live acts play like every fucking note were their last ones on earth. Yeah, they're in the mainstream now, and they make a good living for themselves doing it....but PLEASE don't dish out this bullshit that they're only in it for the money. If they were, you'd know. Believe me, you'd know. Y'know madonna charges £200 for a 20 song setlist While green day charge £37:50 ( cost of my ticket 2 years ago ) for a 32 song setlist So I agree green day aren't in this for the money - they are in it for the fun , the fans , their love of music and their talent People or bands such as rihanna , U2 , madonna and lady gaga only really care about how much money they are gonna make out it . Elena
mainstream is when bands are played on the radio and if i ask people if the know green day they say "oh 21 guns / WMUWSE is such a great song. i love this band" if i ask them: "if you listened to christie road?" they are replying with "what the hell is christie road???" so they are mainstream because a lot of people know them yeah and then ask people whether they've heard St Jimmy or Christians Inferno and you also get the answer "no"
MrsBillieJoe95
I want to hear more collaborations on the albums I've randomly gotten into Panic! at the Disco lately (idr how, but I just remember that I randomly fell in love and I can't stop listening to them lately), so I want to hear Billie and Brendon team up on a couple songs I think their voices would work together
gmcloughlin
Can anyone remember with 21st CB when did we first get a tracklisting for the album? I'm kinda expecting the one for iUno! next month I don't understand why people argue over whether Green Day is mainstream or punk. As far as I'm concerned, they're incredible musicians who make the radio ten times better to listen to when they're played. They're the reason music has become such a huge part of my, and alot of other people's lives. I don't think they belong to any particular genre of music, they're unique and they'll be remembered because of that. Discovering Green Day has been one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me. I don't know where I'd be without them.
Harry Potter.
This thread slowly turns into "Green Day: Mainstream Or Not?" so i'd answer this: Can anyone remember with 21st CB when did we first get a tracklisting for the album? I'm kinda expecting the one for iUno! next month Same here. And a single maybe!
TheJedi
no not really. it only annoys my when people are talking with me about green day and the say they love them and the only songs they know are WMUWSE and 21 guns. and i don't like it when bands are hyped. i don't really care about those things.. i kinda like when many people talks about the Green Day songs that are played on the radio and how good they are, 'cause that's how more people get to know about Green Day. If they love the songs on the radio, they maybe theyll check out the older songs later. When I became a Green Day fan, I first only knew about American Idiot, Basket Case, WMUWSE, BOBD, and Holiday.. i mean, you have to start somewhere? now i've heard every song. instead of complaining, you should just tell them to check out more Green Day songs, and hopefully they'll like it. Bastard of 1967
i don´t say that they are for money. i only wanted to say, that the reason that a band earns money are the fans. not more. and in times in that music is mostly downloaded illegaly on the internet. A band is nothing without live shows because only a few people buy their records. Right - it's well understood now that you don't make money by selling records anymore. You get exposure by selling records, and then make whatever money you're going to make with your live shows. So... ... it follows then that the more commercially marketable at least some of your tracklist is, the broader exposure you get, and thus the more people you get clamoring for a concert ticket. As far as I'm concerned, if the label needs a 21 Guns or WMUWSE to help plug the record and make *everybody* some money in the process, so be it, and (I think this may be where our opinion differs?) I don't have a problem with this. So long as the songs in and of themselves are quality and deserving of being on the album -- which (like Good Riddance) these two examples I think *are*, that's fine with me. So (getting back on topic here) if out of a total batch of 30-odd songs on Uno Dos and Tre, the band includes a few airplay-worthy songs that are at least as good as their past commercially-successful singles, I'll be quite content with that, and I'll happily shout "YESSSSSSSsssss!!" every time I hear one on the radio. In short: A quality band that does a phenomenal live show and has a killer work ethic, that has achieved some great commercial success while still keeping close to their fans and not forgetting where they came from? That's just as awesome as it is unprecedented, and I'd suggest that we all enjoy the ride while the music is still playing.

WhatserKinx
I'm not a fan of collaborations. I don't really know why, I think it's because I'm buying an album to hear that artists music. Everyone likes different artists, we here all like green day but not all of us like Panic! at the disco (just an example 'cause someone mentioned them earlier) and so I personally might avoid that song because I don't like the collaborating artist. Elena
i like collabos if they don't get too much...and well, just as a bonus track or as a b-side on a single
solongfromthestars
I've got no issue with collabs or covers as long as they stay as a b-side or something, but then I think to myself... how much more awesome would a Green Day-only song be?
DannyDirnt
I don't like collabs either. I agree to all WhatserJinx said. Also, I had forgotten about the "It's Fuck Time!" reference in Billie's tweet. Now I'm pretty sure it will be released in the trilogy. Also, I got a feeling this tilogy is gonna bring Green Day to a whole new level of epicness and fame. I predict a AI-like fame-wise era. I don't know if it's gonna be THAT big like AI... Just think about how they have to explain in every goddamn interview that uno isn't the only album to come out, but there are three albums. (Like they had to explain why they did another concept album with 21stCB and if the story is something like part two of AI and bla bla bla.) Or all the people that ask ''What? Another Green Day Album? Didn't they just release one?'' I think it pretends on how good this Trilogy is going to be promoted.. Right words in the right time. People wanted to listen to what the guys had to say. What they thought about Bush and as well the story (along with St. Jimmy and so on) is something which is pretty similar to many teenagers lifestory. -I hope that wasn't that badly explained.. I'm sure this Trilogy will be epic as well, but maybe won't catch that many people in such a short amount of time like AI did. But: you can't compare one album/trilogy of albums with another. It's just like you can't compare two of your children.

That's weird, because I am always pleased when i hear people say they love that certain song of Green Day, even if they only know that one single. It already means a lot to me when they at least remembered the band's name and the song title. And so what if they say they love Green Day and all they know is one song. How does that affect your life in a bad way? Yeah, I guess you're right. AI was a real masterpiece, and probably they will never have such a great success again. Oooh, never say never
