What's up with all the striped shirts? :D

Haha thanks a lot!

Yeah Mikey is cute when he throws something at the cameraman xD

And the striped shirts.. hmm.. I was thinking about that, too... idk :D

but as long as they keep working on the whole thing I don't care what bullshit they do or what clothes they wear ;)

It's not a perm, it's naturally curly and sheep-like :D. He usually straightens it/puts wax on it.

(Billie hair expert here )

ah didn't now that perm means the unnatural way, I know that too but I would prefer if he would let it sheep-like

I wonder if there's any reason at all why they replaced the Is with 1s.

Man, I really feel like once this thing is over a lot of these things will turn out to be hints, just like that radio in the 21st CB studio video. xD

what do you mean with Is and 1s?

I really want to know what got blocked out at 40s

I am not going to lie .... I read that as sperm and was like o.O

omg how dare you to think about something like this....jk

I tried to see what got blocked out..

33nxg8g.png

I have no idea what it is... looks like a piece of paper?

maybe they are frightened that we are so clever and could zoom it and read it then

I don't know if it's old news or something....but Billie has a tattoo of the aaf bunny (0:33)....and I tried to read the paper......(failed)...the title says TRACKS most probably....but it could also say TOPS (but that doesn't make that much sense right :P )

Someone wrote this on GDA:

"I'm pretty sure they publish a video every time they are done recording a track they have decided will make the cut for the new album. So at this point they have 11 songs (hence all the 1's in the video). I bet there will be 3 or 4 more videos before they are done [...]"

That's a good way of interperating it! Although I do think there will be more songs in the album :ninja: It's like they make a good song, then decide to chill for a bit and make a video.

But when you see behind the scenes of making of albums from other bands, they normally do it in a different order. Like doing some drums for one track then another.

I like how we try to find meaning in these videos. Unless they are deliberately trolling us, there might not be a reason at all.

Like Bike thief became B1ke th1ef. (or, in this case, the1f :D)

I don't know where I read or saw this, but I'm fairly sure that Green Day doesn't record albums like that (though most other bands do). I heard that Green Day recorded at least American Idiot track by track.

But maybe American Idiot was a special case, because they maybe recorded each song as soon as they had finished writing it. They did end up recording that album pretty fast, since they started from scratch after Cigarettes and Valentines in 2003, and were finished recording American Idiot in early 2004. That means they spend about a year writing and recording the album.

As far as I know, the most efficient way to record is to finish all the drum parts first. Setting up the drums takes quite some time, since you need to get the sound right for each song and maybe have to do a few retakes to get the recordings right. Then you can fully focus on the bass and guitar parts, and eventually the vocals all separately. It is hard to keep an overview on each instrument when you are recording them together.

But I don't know, maybe Green Day has a good planning on how to record without following any of the standards.

When you think about it like that, maybe they did the drums first, then once they've finished off the rest of each song, they make a video. Tre hanging around and stealing Billie's bike because his bit is done but he's there to be part of how the rest is recorded?

I'm pretty sure they've just been filming while they're in the studio and putting clips together to give us a little glimpse of it and entertain us. I really don't think we can tell anything about their recording method or schedule from these videos.

Maybe there are hidden messages we can't see just by viewing each video separately. Maybe we have to string them together, or play them backwards, to see/hear what's really going on!

After reading your post I watched every video again and counted things like drumbeats, sounds, gestures, video frames and returning objects. If my calculations are correct, it gives us a release date for the new Green Day album around summer/fall this year.

Totally.

This is actually brilliant, you should join the Sherlock TV/Movies thread just because of this XD

Now that you mention Sherlock.. you know those promo videos for the new season had anagrams that all meant the same thing?

MVHRX.jpg

vq8au.jpg

These are obviously anagrams for a new song or the album title.

If only it was something like that.

 It would've been original for sure.

I hope they'll mae a formal announcement(s) very soon. They've been recording two months almost. I would think they would be near wrapping up recording and moving to mixing and mastering.

I wish there was something to be read into with these videos, but there probably isn't. It would have given us quite a shock if there was a secret message if played backwards. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have an album title themselves.

I'm thinking the Is as 1s is just whatever font they're using.

If the next album is "Billie's Bike Thief" I'll still think it's a better title than 21st Century Breakdown. So we're good.

What I think will be awesome is after the album comes out, going through it and figuring out what parts of it were hinted where in which video clips. :) Come on, you know that at least *some* of us are going to spend way too much time doing that!!

Best part is Tre's face at the end, I think they might be almost done wrapping up the recording process and might be just editing and mixing now.

The standard is:

Scratch tracks - drums, bass, guitars, vocals, and others -----> to get tempo down and to play with sounds

Real tracks - drums, bass, guitar (played to drum and bass track), vocals (sang to mixed)

That's as far as I know

Definitely! When we've listened to the album, it'll be incredible to go back to these videos and listen to skeletons of the songs we'll come to love. And I'm sure we're blowing off obvious things, like Mike's KYE shirt in the pre-Breakdown videos. :D

With the striped shirts,if you go mad and look for explanations for everything, maybe it means that they go on with a linear story, and, after the AI-21st era, which were pretty similar, they continue with their old style?

EDIT: I had an idea on the blocked thingy.Maybe it's not that they think we're clever enough to zoom in,maybe it's the album cover!!

Nope, Tré is still recording in the second-to-last scene of this video. (In the scene where they censored something)

Darn my slow internet and not - quite - fully synced youtube videos.

It's Green Day, they can record their songs however the damn well want.

Idk how they record them. What I know is that this album is gonna be EPIC! And I completely meant it! This album seems to be going to have awesome songs, maybe kinda relaxing ones. It's weird to think that maybe one of the new songs will be our favorite ever but we still don't know it...
