Green Day vs. Tokio Hotel - March Madness 12.

You like Nickelback but don't like Blink-182, oh such a sad day.

ugh, leave me alone.

Reasons for liking nickelback and disliking blink 182:

I don't like "Pop punk" (Green Day and MCR being the only exceptions, they do something differently idk). It's probably because I am not a pop, nor a punk fan. Pop is too "unheavy" and meaningless and punk is boring and has no musical depth or catchyness. Brink 182 has both of those elements. The songs I know from them don't have great meanings or anything, they're not heavy at all, they're boring and the music is really thin (meaning it's a guitar, bass, drums and vocals no harmonies or pianos or violins or synthetic instrumentation)

Don't get me wrong, I love simplicity, that's one of my favourite things about GD actually, but blink do it to the point where it's boring.

I also really dislike mark's vocals, but that's less of an issue.

I have this, or similar problems with: All Time Low and Paramore

About Nickelback, I'm not a huge fan or anything, but I'd take them over blink any day. The lead singer's voice is really unique. They're kind of a "rock-pop" band, but somehow they're not too pop for me. And I like the bands' message/lyrics a lot. I'm a lyric snob, and they've come up with some pretty creative stuff, so that's cool. Next, they're an amazing live band, I have no clue how blink are, so I can't compare, but i know a lot of NB's live stuff is better than the studio version.

NB is also super melodic and catchy. Which is important to me. I'm a big Marilyn Manson fan, which is an artist that some may categorize as "Satanic death metal" but it still manages to be melodic an catchy.

NB's music is a little too chill for my taste, but when it's on the radio or whatever, I can't ask for anything better.

I think a lot of people hate NB just because it's a "popular" thing to do. I really don't see anything worth hating, but then again people love to bitch and complain. I bet half of the people i know that hate nickelback wouldn't hate them if no one else did.

Note: Blink 182 is not melodic in my opinion. They're poppy and not melodic, you can't get a worse combination then that.

One final thing about NB, they're memorable, which is probably the greatest thing a band can have.

Bands with similar aspects of music as Nickelback: Billy Talent, Britney Spears

K, gonna legit go and listen to NB now. Saving me is my favourite song.

Sorry for all the spelling/grammar errors lol.

La fin.

I get everything that you say and everyone should respect each others music taste!

Oh I think you should hear the self-tittled blink record...Not really pop-punk and not much Mark since you don't like him

Please, tell me how you're taste in music is more right than anyone else's. x)

I didn't say it was, I'm just saying Nickleback is terrible band.

That describes Nickelback pretty well.

...His voice sounds the same as every band in that category, that HEHHR HEHHHR. Also, they sing about fucking girls and drinking beer. ...Just saying.

No, not to be like hipster or anything, but I've always hated Nickelback. I hate the way they sound and how I perceive them. I hate all bands that sound like Nickelback. Theory of a Deadman is an example.

One final thing about NB, they're memorable, which is probably the greatest thing a band can have. Bands with similar aspects of music as Nickelback: Billy Talent, Britney Spears.

Nickelback, Billy Talent, and Britney Spears is the weirdest comparison I've ever seen, all three are different. Also, Billy Talent is mainly punk, which you mentioned you didn't like.

No hard feelings, I mean, like Nickelback, go for it, I just trash them because I don't like them. I mean, I've never seen a person not trash a band to no end.

ANYWHO, back on topic, what with Blink losing to Lambert, I think Panic! vs Lambert should be quite interesting - both fanbases are massive and obsessive. I think we'll have a tough bout no matter who wins at this point.

Okay, my comments are red.

I didn't say it was, I'm just saying Nickleback is terrible band.

What gives you the right to say that? I don't enjoy a lot of bands, but when someone puts their heart and soul into a record and leaves it in the open for people to enjoy, it almost seems cruel to call it terrible like it's a fact.

ESPECIALLY when you don't even listen to that band.

That describes Nickelback pretty well.

I like nickelback's message. And i'm aware of the fact that they're not heavy, but they're a pop/rock band. It'd be weird of they were. And I don't find them boring so...

Also, it's not very thin, probably because his voice is very full. But they love to play with harmonies.

...His voice sounds the same as every band in that category, that HEHHR HEHHHR. Also, they sing about fucking girls and drinking beer. ...Just saying.

Girls? i only know their singles, and none of them are about fucking girls....

And drinking beer? the closest thing that comes to mind is rockstar, which is sort-of a satiric and comedic song so yeah....

No, not to be like hipster or anything, but I've always hated Nickelback. I hate the way they sound and how I perceive them. I hate all bands that sound like Nickelback. Theory of a Deadman is an example.

I'm not familiar with the band you just listed. But why hate?

Nickelback, Billy Talent, and Britney Spears is the weirdest comparison I've ever seen, all three are different. Also, Billy Talent is mainly punk, which you mentioned you didn't like.

BT isn't punk... They're like hard rock. The ramones/sex pistols/clash are punk.

The only punk I can enjoy would be Anti-Flag, and only because they stand for something important and can be melodic at times.

All three of them are memorable.

All three are melodic.

And all three of them have unique voices

The music doesn't sound the same, but they have similar qualities in their respective genres.

No hard feelings, I mean, like Nickelback, go for it, I just trash them because I don't like them. I mean, I've never seen a person not trash a band to no end.

Please. Let's not start a bitch fight.

She likes Nickelback, and you obviously don't.

Let's not insult her music taste because it's just as valid as yours.

(And I love her music taste :P)

Once again, I don't care that you hate them, but trying to argue with someone who likes them isn't going to get you anywhere.

Because the shit you're referring to is my opinion, clearly?

Okay, my comments are red.

Note: I have listened to the band in the past, hence why I don't like them. Every song I've tried from them sounds the same. I'm not trying to egg anything on here, I just like to defend my opinion, that's all. I believe anyone would do the same, you showcased this yourself.

I'm not fighting, it's debating, I'm defending my opinion and she is hers. It's all in good nature, I really don't care either way, but if it's going to be taken so personally I won't continue. Happy? God damn.

You're blaming Nickelback for making songs that sound similar on a GDforum? I hate to say this, but when I started listening to GD and I borrowed Dookie from my sister, I couldn't tell ONE song apart.

For example, the melody for the song Amy, is pretty much Walking Alone and Shoplifter put together.

And Carpe Diem have the same exact chords as Burnout.

I think it's safe to say that bands that have been making music in one specific genre like GD have for 23 years or so, songs are gonna sound similar.

I guess i'll take this conversation a bit back on topic: Who do you guys think will compete against Green Day in the finals? I would say Linkin Park, Paramore, or 30 Seconds To Mars.

I'd say if you've heard one Nickelback song you've heard them all. And yes, I'd agree, but at least each Green Day album has a different feel and tone, that's arguable in the case of Slappy/Kerplunk, but still. I don't know what you're trying to prove to me here.

That it kind of makes you a hypocrite to call every one of Nickelbacks songs the same on this forum. To say every album has the same sound is absurd, it makes me doubt what you said about you listening to them before.

It really doesn't make me one, it's a matter of opinion of course, and every Nickelback song sounds like the next, to me, especially. Green Day's different, because they don't have that shitty modern rock sound that every other band has. And really, who cares if some Green Day songs sound the same? That doesn't deteriorate from how Nickelback's songs sound the same.

I've listened to them, yes. No, I haven't sat down and listened to one of their albums. I've heard enough of them on the radio or wherever to form an opinion. I don't see how you can say otherwise.
