So is this putting to rest the theory that the secret show songs aren't going on the new album?

Depending on what that list is for specifically. We're assuming those are songs they're planning to record for the album, though those *could* be songs they haven't decided on yet, to be added to another list of songs definitely for the album. Or something else. But it's probably the first one.

I think at least some secret shows songs will be on the album, but I also think there will be some totally new songs too.

Aren't the songs on that setlist some of the secret show songs? And at any rate, we can only see about nine tracks there. I'm almost certain this album won't be another rock opera, but Green Day averages around 15 songs per record.

Yeah, Nuclear Family, Stay the Night, Carpe Diem, Let Yourself Go, and Crushing Bastards

Obviously not ALL of the secret show songs can go on an album, but the ones we've seen stick around for most of the shows probably have a good shot. I've just heard some people floating around the idea that all those songs were kind of a one shot deal and we would never see them again

with a hidden board of the setlist, and Billie Joe Smile at the same time..

idk... it's just like a conspiracy or something..

Maybe they deliberately put that song list in the background to make us think that these songs will be on the album, but they're actually gonna have all completely unheard songs? You never know..

P.s. asdfghjkl this is so freaking exciting! :yay:

And this setlist... I don't know, I'm too excited to think! I'm only happy that we could see it :)

Oh my god, Rob is really producing the record.... This is exactly what I've been hoping for the entire time. So thrilled to see him there.

That would be oddly evil of them. Not to mention, I don't think they'd care enough to go through that much effort to fuck with the small portion of people who actually would notice it.

Ooooh Rob Cavallo :woot:

and oooh sentimentality  when I discovered Green Day the studio videos from 21stCB had just been released the day before or so and now there's new album videos and the circle is complete :D

Except most of the songs visible on that list were secret show songs? (Nuclear Family, Stay the Night, Carpe Diem, Let Yourself Go, Crushing Bastards, that Teenage song but I forgot what the rest of the song was called)

This 20 second video got me so fucking excited it isn't funny. I'm so happy that Rob Cavallo is back, and that drum beat needs to make the final cut or else :)

I can't say I understand why people love Carpe Diem and Stay the Night so much. I mean, they're good songs, but I don't think they're great. I'm sure the studio versions will sound much better than what we've heard already, but meh, I dunno.

I was happy to see Let Yourself Go on the list, I'm excited to hear some aggression on this album. Still hoping Oh Love will make the cut, it think that's a beautiful song. I doubt Amy will be on the album, it feels like a standalone song to me, something more personal, whether or not this one turns out to be a concept record.

Well, not all people like those songs. As for me, I'm totally with you, can't quite understand the excitement over these songs or the new songs in general.

I think they are decent material, but in a way they're really simple, too simple for my taste. To me, that feels like taking a step back from the high standards that the band offered over the last years. So either they do some serious work on those songs or the new album might just be too tra-la-la for me. And I don't want this to happen , I don't want to be disappointed by the new record.

But then again, Rob Cavallo is involved; that makes me extremely happy (and gives me hope). And that whole vid is so awesome, they all look so relaxed and happy. Hope to see a lot more of these over the next months.

This is awesome. Beyond awesome. It feels like 2008 with the studio videos all over again. But better. Because.. well.. Green Day is recording a new record, they look happy/they look like they're having fun, and Rob is producing. Can't wait to hear/see/read more!

My favorite band is back in business. I feel proud, overwhelmed, anxious, but most of all, excited beyond belief. Thank you, boys, for doing all that you do!

Exactly what I think! I have this song in my head the whole time after watching Green Day's first studio video..

Don't mistake high-standards with high-concept. Just because the music's simpler doesn't mean it's going to be any less well-written, arranged, played or produced. Green Day have been pretty high-standard since Warning, and their albums have heightened in concept since that time as well, culminating in 21CB, which I think was overly conceptualized. AI hit the sweet spot, which is why it was so acclaimed, if polarizing. I'm glad to see them getting back to a pre-Warning mentality, which, combined with their post-Warning production values, should make for a hell of a record.

Y'know, if Jason does some of the guitar work, that could speed up the process...division of labour, less Billie fatigue etc...

Loved the video, love the people that went all CSI on it! And love, love Rob!
