cant wait to play their new songs on my guitar and on my drums..gonna be fun!!

but i feel miserable in a way, for me it feels wrong to actually know some new songs (like carpe diem, nuclear family,...) before they could officially get released on the new album..the feeling i had with 21CB when i listened the first time to the new songs wont be the same when i hear the this time new songs, if they make it into the new album...the surprise wont be big enough for me ;(

Haha thats why I didn't listen to any new songs except from carpe diem.

The quality of the other songs wasn't good so don't feel bad when you hear those songs it will be like listening to them for the first time.

I loved 21st Century Breakdown.

I thought it was over produced and the writing was weak. it was fine for about a week, then I only listened to it a handful of times.

it's my least favorite album.

I'm listening to some of the songs played at the secret show in San Francisco, OMG I'm looking forward to have the new album in my hands :) <3

What about "carpe diem"? I find it very nice, I'm sure all the songs will be fantastic <3

It is funny how opinions vary with this album. I actually thought the writing was one of Billie's most creative so far.

In response to everyone's questions as to whether or not Jason White will be recording on the album: I doubt he will. He's been going into the studio with them for years now and hasn't recorded with them. He most likely goes in there to learn the new songs early before they go out and perform them live.

It's a good album but it's still weak. It has just as many songs as Nimrod and it's hardly as interesting.

It's got some great songs but the songs just sound too overproduced and "forced". I think Butch kind of gave them hell in the studio and bled them dry of ideas.

This time around I think the songs will be more natural and sound a little more familiar to the older fans with enough appeal to gain interest with new fans.

Really hope Oh Love is on there!

Me too! That's my favorite song! It's so beautiful. So is Stray Heart.

I just want Carpe Diem to be on there. And Ashley! Since that's my name and I've never heard it.

Haha, I want them to include "Amanda" since that's my name :D The live recording is too horrible to understand anything, so I've pretty much never heard it!

There's definitely a decent version of Amanda on youtube. At least, I could hear certain lyrics. I think it's from the Texas show where he says "fuck it i'm gonna name her it's been fuckin 20 years fuck it"

[Tangent warning] Actually, the way he said it makes it seem like he just made up the name Amanda for the sake of giving Whastername a name, even if that wasn't the girl's actual name... although wait, wasn't there a tweet where he said it was about an Amanda? I would definitely prefer that he just made it up, otherwise I feel as if I've been lied to with "I remember the face but I can't recall the name." I remember in that long interview with Billie's brother Alan, he talks about how he wrote a song about how he remembers all of his ex-gfs names, but none of their faces, and how Billie has the opposite problem with Whastername. I really want to know if he just remembered it or not haha.

It makes me sad to see so much hate for 21st Century Breakdown :tired:

I think it has some of Billie's best lyrics. And musically! Wow! I loved the different styles they tried out - Viva La Gloria? (Little Girl) has an interesting sound that reminds me a little of Misery, and I love that piano-y old-fashioned sound in the beginning. Peackemaker has a sexy Spanish feel to it and is one of their most fast-paced songs, and has spiffy violins in the background. I love that they (finally) used piano in a few of the songs, and Billie's newfound falsetto is beautiful! The piano-falsetto thing really works for them.

I could go on, but a lot of the songs have different styles from what I was used to hearing from GD, and that's one of the things I love most about the album. I love the variety and their trying new things. Not that I don't love their older stuff, because I do. I just like hearing something different too.

Oh really, there is a good version of Amanda out there? I'll have to check it out. Thanks!

And yeah, the girl really was named Amanda. It says so in Nobody Likes You (I think it does, anyway), and Bille definitey did tweet that last year. He said that Whatsername, Good Riddance, and She were all about his ex-girlfriend Amanda. I think she's the one who moved to Ecuador to study abroad.

Really? I recorded a version of Amanda and I can kinda understand it. I like the song but not the meaning since it's about his ex.

Also has this been posted in this thread? It's a screenshot from the video (I didn't take it) I hope these songs are on the new album. Let Yourself Go is the BEST song EVER. I heard it live in Austin.

i really hope Carpe Diem and Let Yourself Go will be on the album !!

...and i doubt that Amy will be on the record, cos it's a tribute song and it wouldn't make sense to put it on an album, though the song is one of their bests imo...but we already have a good recording of it, so i don't really mind :D

...i also hope some songs that we just have with a crappy quality will be on the album (and that some that we already have with good quality will mayb be not on there)

and if that pic really shows the set list of the new album, i'd be VERY happy, cos it seems as there are songs we've never heard of, songs that we have just in a bad quality (till now) and Let Yourself Go and Carpe Diem - probably my fave new songs :D (from what i've heard  )
