Bam-Itz-GreenDay
So are we thinking this is gonna be a real thing? I'm still thinking it's just some kind of elaborate family Christmas card I really really hope its not just some rocking christmas card. I do think that something will come out of this though. beejeezee
People say "I love Billie" because they love his music, lyrics, stage presence and how his personality comes across in the the hundreds of interviews he's done. But this 13 year old child has never said or done anything in the public eye so there's nothing to "love" him for other than being Billie's son. That's why it's not the same. We've never seen him perform or speak, only seen photos. So declaring love for him is the same as seeing some photos of any other random unknown 13 year old on the internet and saying "I LOVE HIM" - creepy. I love jakob for being cute and short. Bam-Itz-GreenDay
We really need to end this pointless war. Right now. I over reacted and I'm sorry. I got excited because I havent seen a picture of Jakob in a long time. No i didnt just start liking him because of that picture, but i see how people would think that, at the way I came across. I'm sorry so lets just drop this shenanigan.

Jaymee!!
I'm with Hermione in thinking that it's more of an elaborate Christmas gift/card. Either way, I think it's great! I didn't notice the mic in Adie's hand originally, and had the immediate thought that she would be the one drumming. But then of course no, it would be Joey. And THEN I got excited at the prospect of hearing her lovely voice wailing out some sick tunes.

It's more than a Christmas card in that they MUST have recorded something together. To what extent they are going to release, publicize, and perform as "The Boo" is the second question. I do think they are a real band though and considering Adie is kind enough to want us to know about it, I do think we will get to hear something or other. There's no way this is the last we'll hear of The Boo, regardless.
jabbycakes
Okay...so I have been a die hard Green Day fan since I was 8 years old (i am now 26). I used to be obsessive and everything, so I can understand that. But I actually made an account and had to say something here. Some of you guys are legitimately crazy. You are talking about a musician that you enjoy...his KIDS. You dont know his kids. You know nothing about them. Immediately attaching yourself to them and being like "Its been so long since I have seen jakob!" is insanity. Like, you may be mentally ill. Ive never been to this site, but I am seeing user names like "I Wanna Be Adrienne" and shit like that. WOW. You guys need to take a BIGGGGGGGGG step back and think about what you are saying. I used to love Green Day, nothing bad to say about them at all. But its some dudes who made catchy pop rock songs. Thats it. You don't need to obsess over their families and kids....really made me sad seeing some of you guys. Im not trying to be mean, I am just genuinely concerned that some of you are undiagnosed psychotics.

We see this band and their families grow with them over the years. It's hard not to feel some sort of affection towards them? Like Joey getting in the band, and Jakob becoming a teen. 3.) People with usernames like Iwannabeadie can be weird, and get annoying. Though I bet most of us have wanted to be her at some time. Because we either have a weird obsession for Billie. Or we wish we could have a life like her. A loving husband and two great kids, she's living the dream.
WarningCastaway
oh now I see that too. Maybe it means Emily's Army. I can kinda see it on the drum kit in the background too Looks like it's part of a word that's obscured by the rest of the band name. Kinda looks like an "E" to the left of it. But maybe not. 2 awesome things about this photo 1- There's an A in between The and Boo. Assuming that represents "Armstrong" 2- They have white granite countertops from the looks of it they're in the garage where Emily's Army does their rehearsal and stuff and tht, along with some other trademark graffiti is spray painted in their garage (yes EA stands for Emily's army for anyone who doesn't know) so I'm assuming they just took the pic on a couch in their. I don't think it has any other meaning lol

A loving husband and two great kids, she's living the dream. 1 - How is pop-rock not an accurate genre for green day? They play rock music...that isn't debatable. It has pop sensibilities. That also isn't debatable. I'm not sure what the issue is here? I mean yeah, it was classified as punk back in the early 90's, but if you tell me that Blvd of Broken Dreams isnt a pop rock song, you are wrong. 2 - I understand feeling affection towards the BAND MEMBER. That is natural...they are producing something that you love, and it makes you feel good, so naturally you would feel affection. I dont know why you would feel affection for those who he associates with in his private life, when they themselves have never EVER done anything to gain your affection other than be related to them. Its really kinda weird. 3-I can see wanting to have the life that she does. Personally, I'd think that people would want to keep that kind of envy to themselves, rather than make it their user name, and the thing that they identify with. You don't need to obsess over their families and kids....really made me sad seeing some of you guys. Im not trying to be mean, I am just genuinely concerned that some of you are undiagnosed psychotics. undiagnosed psychotics first off, hello it's blatantly obvious that you are new here Nobody here is a psycho creepy pedophile. The majority of people who are on this website are dedicated fans and have been for several years. There are many fans here who know every interview, every show, every everything about the band- that includes their kids. Now, GDA and GDC do have a policy about protecting the privacy of the GD families and we do not promote posting personal photos of the band members and their families. However, it is clear now that Billie and Adrienne are becoming comfortable letting their children have some lime-light. Their oldest son Joey has a band with his friends who have been touring locally and getting media attention. And with the release of this "family band" they are now letting their youngest son be part of that as well. So it is expected that there will be talk about them since they are now in the public eye. As for your comment about us attaching to them and "Its been so long since I have seen jakob!" --that is not insanity. I know I was one who posted a comment that regarded how his kids grew up. That was an observation I had made comparing the images of them now to the images and video clips of them from several years ago. Joey and Jakob were in several old interviews from 2002-ish and they also were at the Kid's Choice Awards a few years back. They had minimal media attention back then, but they still had it nonetheless. But that does not mean that I have been stalking them and attaching myself to them. They're the same age as my siblings for fuck's sake. Also, his kids have been to a number of GD concerts and Billie has given them attention while on stage. So it's not like him and Adrienne are trying to hide their children from the bad bad fans. I think its sweet that they are giving their kids opportunities to be part of the music scene. They are a complete punk rock family! And yes, seeing those kinds of usernames around are annoying, but you can't stop it and some fans will act obsessed, but nobody here is psycho or mentally ill. We are all here because we love the band and Billie's family is being more publicly active than the other band members' families, so it is to be expected that the fans of the band will be fans of the band's families too. Jaymee!!
I agree with you to a certain extent. I agree on what you're saying about people attaching themselves to their kids, but let's be real for a moment. Joey and Jakob haven't had the 'quiet' life like Mike and Tre's kids have. They were filmed for MTV. They got to award shows with their father. They are a public eye family. Joey is in a successful band, which wouldn't have become nearly as successful as they are without the help of his dad's rockstar publicity and promotion for the band. Seeing Jakob be on the scene again is interesting, because unlike his brother, he isn't putting out records or doing anything to get public attention. As for the usernames, what does it matter? We have one member by the name of I Snort Doughnut Sprinkles, and if someone didn't know that it was a well-known direct quote from Tre, they would think they were absolutely crazy. So to say that some of our members are undiagnosed psychotics is really far-fetched.

Welcome to the world of online fandom .... if you think this is bad, you should check out the My Chemical Romance one. We might have a few crazies with crushes on the boys' kids; they have crazies that write fanfiction inbvolving the band and their kids, who are all toddlers. I do agree with what you said though, for the most part. I've seen some proper creepers, and have heard some horror stories of stuff that some fans do at Emily's Army shows (wearing Green Day shirts and asking Joey to sign a copy of 'Dookie' comes to mind.) Unfortunately these kids don't seem to see the creep factor of it all and that's the scariest part.
Moyeszet
Ok thingus. We're not mad here. We're just, big fans. Big enough to go and geek over our favorite band on a forum. You're here in the sorta part of obsessed fans, for whom GD has a life meaning. So most of us know really all about them, from the crappy little drunk anecdote to the name of their children and wives. Get that in your head. Then, for the nicks... Most of the time it's wanting to be original, to show the others you're not a GD noob, and to be funny, am I wrong, dear fellows GDCers? Hell, we have a Penis, a I snort doughnuts sprinkles as said higher... Most of the time we aren't really meaning what we're saying, I mean I think so, it's mostly having fun and belonging to a community. Belonging, it's sharing things, a weird addiction, a weird crush, a love for music. We're not psychotic! We're just people having fun, we're very huge fans. That's all, please stop trolling around! (Oh and also. GD iS not pop rock. All but pop rock. Maybe not punk, but pop punk at least. Green Day is Green Day, it's the only style that defines them.) jabbycakes
Alright, Not to mention that people saying such things and with such usernames are silly tweeny boppers who are meant to say things like that. They grow up--they aren't creeps, they're teenagers. This, amongst other things, put it to bed for me. I was just really startled at the avatar picture with his kid and the hearts and whatnot...I was once completely obsessed with GD as well (not to THAT extent, but I spent thousands of dollars on memorabilia back in the early 2000s) when i was younger, so I should be more understanding I suppose. Sorry if I offended anyone...but I still stand by my sentiments that some of you maybe take it a tad too far. And I will never be able to be convinced that GD can't be classified as pop-rock. Hell, first album I randomly looked at on wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warning_%28Green_Day_album%29 ) and lo and behold, Pop-Rock. I know thats just wikipedia, but with obsessive as fans of GD can be, don't you think someone wouldve edited that out if it were some blasphemous thing? Nothing wrong with pop-rock at all.
