Or do you think just watching his ep will be self-explanatory enough? If he is only in one episode and if you are only intending to wacth that one episode, then most likely you wouldn't need to watch 3 seasons worth of shows. But if he will re-appear... you may want to either watch or get a really good synopsis. I watch the show, it is one of my faves actually, so I could catch you up in a synopsis if you like

Laurina
I loved to hear a bit about the show. Would you mind putting together a short synopsis here so we can all understand what it's about? Sure! No prob Let's see if I can capture the first 3 seasons in a quick summary, and explain the characters while I am at it: The show focuses around Jackie Peyton who is an emergency room nurse at New York's All Saints Hospital. She is married to Kevin who owns a bar and has two daughters. Jackie uses drugs like vicodin, percocet and oxycontin to basically get through her days. For quite some time no one knew she did this but her hubby and a good friend of hers who works at the same hospital, named Dr. Eleanor O'hara, figured it out and have given her some ultimatums. Jackie is damn good at fooling everyone and has got an answer for pretty much everything. For example, her dealer in season three is also someone who sponsors over 50 addicts in AA (yes, he is both a dealer and an AA sponsor!) and the first time he gave her some drugs he gave them to her in the bottom of a box that had a 30 days sobriety coin in it. Jackie used that coin later to convince her husband she had been going to AA when in fact she had done no such thing. *Side note on this particular dealer.... he discovered her addiction when he was a patient at the hospital after having an epileptic attack and she stole medications off of him when he was having a seizure. And in addition, at the end of season three he is a goner... when stepping out of his apartment building he narrowly escaped getting hit by a piece of concrete falling from a gargoyle statue that decorates the building, but as a result got run over by a truck. She also had an affair with the hospital pharmacist by the name of Eddie, and he, for a long time, supplied her with the drugs she wanted but believing she was using them because she had injured her back. Another great fib of hers. And when she could she was snatching pills from the hospital pharmacy when Eddie wasn't aware. At the point of the end of season three Eddie and her are pretty much no longer anything but Eddie has forged a friendship with Jackie's husband... makes things all sorts of weird for Jackie. Some other characters include Dr. Cooper who is played by Peter Facinilli (probably known by many people as Carlisle from the Twilight series movies) and a charming funny nurse by the name of Zoey who is addicted to the colour pink, lol. Hmm what else can I tell you? Her oldest daughter is suffering from some sort of anxiety/stress disorder and in season three was prescribed children's vicodin. You can imagine how that affects Jackie as an adult. In fact at one point she takes the rest of her daughter's medication and then goes to her friend Dr. O'hara to refill the prescription. Season three ended with Dr. O'hara offering to prescribe Jackie methadone to help her kick her drug addiction, Jackie's husband confessing to having an affair (Jackie thought he was on to her affair with Eddie but he has turned out to be oblivious), Dr. Cooper being stood up at the alter, and Jackie having to give a urine sample for hospital HR which she was sure, of course, she would then be discovered; however, the emergency room adminstrator who seems to be a bit of a heartless bitch actually has tossed the sample out to protect Jackie. And she is, of course, without a dealer or access to drugs so... that could well be where the character Billie will fit in. I hope this helps a bit! lizziebix
Okay, here goes: Who did Jackie's husband have an affair with? How did he and Eddie become friends? And why? Is Jackie a good nurse or just a crazy one on drugs? Do they go into how it affects her work besides her home life? What about the other daughter? Anything interesting I need to know about her? All soap opera type questions and situations. Actually this show sounds up my alley. May have to check out the previous years. Okay maybe not all three, but at least last seasons!! Thanks Laur and Meesh!

Thanks Laur and Meesh! Jackie's hubby: He didn't say who he cheated with when he confessed. It was in the last episode of season 3, so maybe we'll find out in season 4 Jackie's hubby & Eddie: Eddie intentionally went to the bar Jackie & her hubby own and made friends with her hubby. Eddie was pissed at the time (had just found out Jackie was married) and did it to intentionally interfere with her marriage because no one at that time knew Jackie was married...she always takes off her wedding ring at work. Jackie is actually a REALLY good nurse...great with people, just really fucked up in her own life...she's like a "functioning drug addict." I think in the beginning it wasn't really effecting her work life, but in season 3 you can see it starting to happen. Jackie's other daughter seems fairly normal...she's the younger of the two and maybe because of that, she's not really affected by Jackie's drug use as noticeably yet. Do you have the cable channel (I think it's Showtime) that Nurse Jackie appears on? And the ability to watch videos on demand through your cable? Because that's how we just watched season 3? All the episodes were available for free through our cable. You should check it out.
lizziebix
Ooohhh, so soap opera-y intriguing! And yes, I do have cable, SHO and On Demand. Will be ushering hubby into another room while I get into this show. Thanks Meesh. If I think of more questions, I know who to ask!

Aww you are very sweet Thank you! A little more about Jackie's youngest daughter, although things seemed to be fine with her the first 2 seasons, in season 3 (right at the end) she has gotten in to trouble for starting a fire at the school she goes to (she and her sister attend a private catholic school). Oh! And if you watch season 3 you will see some familiar AI faces Theo Stockman and Rebecca Naomi Jones

Mommy's Little Nightmare
I am so beyond interested in seeing this. It doesn't sound like any other TV appearance he's really done. I mean, he did Haunted and Chris Isaak, but like... Haunted was what, 2 minutes at the beginning of an episode? His character had no real relevance and didn't involve him doing much. Chris Isaak was a big joke. I mean, to be realistic, Chris Isaak was just a parody of himself. And 'Irv Kratzer' was just a ghostly betting man who died trying to fix a horse race. No backstory. This sounds like his character will be featured through the episode, and it's a role he's actually going to take seriously, and ACT. THIS character has a backstory. He has a family, he's a drug addict, he's gonna have to actually play a role and not just read lines. I have to say, I am really interested in seeing him do some legit acting. Even if it's just a mere guest appearance in one episode, it's definitely new for him, and I really can't wait to see this character, and how Billie does! I think a lot of the people who are down on his acting are going to be really surprised. But then again, I tend to always have faith in Billie. Heather.
I completely agree. This is an actual ROLE, even if it's only for one episode. And I really do think he's a natural actor, he just doesn't know it yet. Give that man an Oscar! (Well, first give him an Emmy. Wait, give him a fucking TONY.) Annie, get your gun
I am overly excited and very confident that he's gonna make a great job. It's going to be a little weird and <contradictive>, but it doesn't matter because what I really want is to see him doing what he likes, whether is music or acting like know. And with Mike and Tré would be the same. Is just another way of art and it doesn't mean he will leave everything to fully dedicate to this... it will be another good experience. That's why I hope that his character develops throughout the episode
