doc.alex Posted December 11, 2011 Share Posted December 11, 2011 ha. i'm at the start Day 1 ~ How did you get into Green Day? one boring day i was just sitting in my room and watched TV. i was soooo bored, that i played a game - switching all channels (i got about 150 of them then), watching it for about 2-3 seconds, and if it's not interesting, moving on. and, haha, at about number 40, it was MTV, i stopped because when i turned on that channel, the AI video clip started exactly at that second. "na na na naaa na naa naaa na naa na, grunge!!!!" and that was WOW i was looking it to the end, looked for the band name, and ran straight ahead to the PC to look more for them! that's how Green Day got mine the most favorite band position from Eminem Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I knew about them because I remember seeing a commercial for International Superhits on TV, but I got into them around American Idiot. Once I listened to that album I was hooked. I then went out and bought all their past albums. That's actually how it goes with a lot of bands I like, I go backwards in their discography. When American Idiot came out, everybody at my school kind of became a "fan" because they knew the singles, me included. Eventually it just sort of fell out of my mind and I didn't think about them much. Then when my other Green Day obsessed friend told me that they were coming out with a new album, I was sort of shocked, not really having thought of them in 5 years. When it came out, my dad bought it and told me listen to it. I did and it just freaking blew my mind. I was up visiting my mom in New York and she wanted to go to their concert in Madison Square Garden (July 28) and my dad also planned to take me to the Kansas City show on August 12. So I saw them in New York and they blew me away as a live band. I didn't know a lot of their older stuff so I bought International Superhits and tried to learn as much as I could before the next concert. Experiencing the next concert as a fan just drew me in more and I have been a fan ever since, only getting more and more into their music as I go. I didn't know it was by Green Day but I automatically fell in love with the song, even though I had never even heard of the word whore before because I was 7. then my dad randomly bought me home dookie one night and I listened to it nonstop on my old Pirates of the caribbean stereo.
