Well based on what's being discussed over on PPMB with Larry, definitely seems like he's producing a compilation album on Adeline, NOT of Green Day...?

Honestly, I don't understand why anyone would think the band is going back to Lookout. When Larry parted ways with the label they went downhill and I don't think Green Day would ever work with them again.

Yeah, I never thought that would be the case. Clearly both (Green Day and Larry) have moved on from there.

Yep, that seems to be the case. I didn't really think he was going to do something directly with Green Day. Always possible, but I think it makes more sense to me that it was something different and new for Adeline.

There was the re-release of Slappy Hours and a rumored 1,OOO Hours on CD a while back but that seems to be where the relationship ended. Obviously they tried to stay close, but they no longer are and if they want to do something that involves the 89-93 years they have the power to do so without the help of Lookout.

Well the remaster for only one of those was done with Lookout, they didn't deliver the second (I can't remember if it was Kerplunk or 1039 that was constantly being pushed back). It wasn't till after Green Day pulled the albums and moved them over to Reprise did they re-release them both re-mastered.

It was Kerplunk, it was pushed back a few years. I was kind of let down by the lack of a cool package like Slappy Hours had but hey, at least I now have remastered Kerplunk for my iPod!

Shit. I just realized I bought my CD of 1039SOSH in April, so it's probably a re-mastered one right? Which means I haven't even heard the "gritty" original version of the songs, and I really wanted to hear the old stuff like it really was.

Oh good, because that and 21st Century Breakdown are my favorites, and the music is so different you can really see how they evolved. I haven't heard Kerplunk yet, but from what I've heard from other people, it's mostly like 1039 in style and the type of songs, so I'm sure I'm going to love it too. It would have sucked if the re-mastered stuff was noticeably different.

Yeah, I know it's kind of soon, but it is Larry's specialty. Young bands with a great new sound. Also, that would mean that Billie's too busy making his own record to do it! :) All speculation, of course. But it just came to me as an option.

Well they do have This Kid and the rest of the tracks from Broadcast This and Regan Macneil, heck, with the stuff they've already recorded once they could put out another album and a couple of EPs, and I imagine they've also already written brand new material on top of that, they have pleeeeeenty of songs to choose from. Heck, I bet they have rerecorded a few of those songs already for an EP or SOMETHING eventually, maybe even a single, heck, just rerecord the Broadcast This EP AS the single for that song :P

the book on tape was a joke.

i am sure he is going to pick great pop punk stuff for the comp. the ppmb is a bit of an insular world over there so i hope some non-ppmb'ers get some suggestions into him.

TOLD YOU GUYS HE'S GOING TO BE WORKING WITH THE FOXBORO HOT TUBS. Er... I think anyway. It makes my idea sound more plausible anyway lol

I wish! But I don't know...

I'm not too excited about Adeline.

I read that thread and the band suggestions are great! I've bugged him with a few suggestions too. But not on the PPMB. I get scared to post over there, lol. eek.

Okay, Netty at IC posted this link about a compilation LP Larry Livermore is putting together. Livermore wrote about this on the 12th, and he says he's looking for North American bands and is working with "an established label." So, I think we can stop with the speculation.

Every band I suggested to him aren't PPMB regulars. I totally agree that some bands who aren't ensconced in their society over there get on this comp. I'm sure Larry will make some great choices.

Oh I read it, I just don't post anything for fear of a PPMB planet!

That would be cool, but I don't see it happening. Didn't Tre Cool say something about how bad social networking is and to get off the Internet? I don't see them wanting to document their everyday movements as fodder for the fans. When you first said that about blogging, I was thinking more along the lines of a music anthology or biography or something along those lines, with really cool photos, maybe some behind the scenes never-seen-before type stuff, interviews, and a history of the band's development and evolution. I mean, he kind of touched on some of that in his blog, so I thought maybe they'd expand it.

Honestly I'm not too excited about the compilation thing, but I guess it'll be nice for the new bands who get to be in it =)

If that's what they'll be working on
