Stephanie.
Nah, Larry Livermore left Lookout Records years ago. It's not gonna be to do with Lookout. Oops. Guess I got my facts wrong :/
Hermione
^ No worries, we know the answer now anyway! Very cool! I'm not gonna get my hopes up that this project has anything to do with Green Day though, I'm guessing it'll be another band on the label. By "A few people" I meant, "A few people that haven't already bought the albums that want the gritty feel." I also think it would be interesting. The only concern I would have is Billie changing the lyrics or guitar riffs or something like that. I wouldn't want a totally different song, I would just want a clearer-sounding version. Y'know? Like, I still want to be able to reconize that Dry Ice, is Dry Ice. No added on lyrics or changed basslines. Oh okay . I think I'd think of it as kind of a whole different thing. The old albums would be the old albums and the rerecorded versions would be like a cool extra thing to listen to, to see the difference. Definitely be cool if they ever did it! Definitely be cool if they ever did it! Yea, like I wouldn't mind added on guitars, jingle bells, or whatever the hell they would want to add, as long as the lyrics, riffs, and bassline are the same. (or extremely similar ) I would just want to tell that it's still the same song. Like, there's no point in saying you're going to rerecord the album, and then half of the song are totally unrecognizable. But now since we got the update about Larry working with Adeline, I don't think Green Day is rerecording...
Fuzz
I expect tons of rep for my impeccable predictions. While it doesn't seem likely that it'd be a new Green Day album, the idea that Larry was working with them in anyway to release something is exciting. My first thought was "ooo, I wonder if it's a side project," though they've always released those through Adeline. Or maybe he asked him to help in some way with Adeline? Alright, I'm done with rampant, baseless speculation for today.
Jacob.
Well, you wouldn't expect much, that's why the whole rerecording idea came into place. And that's fine, I'm sure they would still keep the none-rerecorded versions up to buy, just incase a few people like you want to have the gritty feel. Re-recording it would be cool though. I'd like the originals of course, but it would be cool of they re-record them. In my opinion, the raw-ness and shitty quality of those albums is one of the things that made them great in a strange way
gehrc
TOLD YOU GUYS HE'S GOING TO BE WORKING WITH THE FOXBORO HOT TUBS. Er... I think anyway. It makes my idea sound more plausible anyway lol
Annie, get your gun
I'm not good at predicting but some people seem to have all figured out According to what I read on GDA I was waiting for something that had to do with GD's new album... But I think this whole thing with Adeline would be great too (as long as it'd be "Green Day" related)

DoodleBob
Haha, I'm so proud of myself, I guessed that he would be working with Adeline in an earlier post. Everyone kinda guessed that though, us GDCers are so smart! Re-recording it would be cool though. I'd like the originals of course, but it would be cool of they re-record them. Agreed! melissawebster
"A few people"? I think it'd be more than a few people . It would be interesting to hear a new take on the old songs but you couldn't beat the originals! They're amazing albums and they're full of songs about teenage concerns being played by teenagers. Billie was singing about those thoughts and feelings as he was experiencing them. It would be cool to hear new versions but they'd never have that same authenticity and wouldn't be anywhere near as special. I agree. I love the music from the first two albums BECAUSE of the gritty quality. It shows an evolution in their music, and as you said, what they were thinking and feeling at the time. I don't think a re-mastered version of the albums would be as good to me, but I can see it appealing to others who may not know Green Day's early music. 1039SOSH is my 2nd favorite Green Day album. Insomniac186
The reason why 1039 sosh and Kerplunk were not included is the multi-track problem, not legal issues. Reprise has full rights of them. I think the remastered version of 1039 sounds great, but Kerplunk sounds pretty crappy (quality obviously) That can be fixed by transferring the analog tape to digital and polishing up any mistakes or erase things they want get rid of, and then remixing the sound. Listen to the remix of 2,000 Light Years Away from the Jerky Boys Soundtrack. Kerplunk's weird sound can be fixed.
Bastard of 1967
That can be fixed by transferring the analog tape to digital and polishing up any mistakes or erase things they want get rid of Tre talked a little about that last year when Rock Band was released. Seems that the old tapes have become quite fragile over the decades and will basically need to be baked apart in order to do the analog to digital dub. Tre said something to the effect that there's really only one company who can do that reliably and they've got literally one shot at it -- the conversion process will damage the original analog masters beyond repair. My takeaway from that is that I don't think the process is quite as simple as it would seem at first glance.

lizziebix
I like where your mind goes. It's hard to believe they're already talking about a new album. Yeah, I know it's kind of soon, but it is Larry's specialty. Young bands with a great new sound. Also, that would mean that Billie's too busy making his own record to do it! All speculation, of course. But it just came to me as an option.
