I didn't understand the the third theory: he will be helping to rerecord 39/Smooth and Kerplunk, can someone help me please?

Larry is obviously going to be joining Green Day, how could you guys not get that?

But seriously, what the hell does this "curiosity killed the cat" thing he tweeted even mean?

Maybe they're going to start a new record label to release Green Day records and they want LL to run it. They don't really run Adeline anymore. It's in San Diego and their manager, Pat, owns it.

Well, 1039/SOSH and Kerplunk! are really outdated, not to mention that Billie Joe's voice is not the best on those two albums. So, we were thinking that Larry would help the boys rerecord those two albums, because there could be benefits. For example, it would give new legal rights to the album. (Legal rights are the reason why none of the songs were on Green Day Rockband.) And, it would just sound better to have a clearer sound. (In my opinion.)

Not to mention that the albums are really shitty quality, even with the remastered versions. And what better person to rerecord the album with than the guy that produced the originals? :)

Of course, this idea is really far-fetched (And you're lacking an excuse....you lied! , sorry, I had too :D ) so don't get your hopes up. We can only wish...

EDIT: I got my facts wrong about the legal rights, the reason that those albums weren't on GD Rockband was because of seperation problems. (Which is actually a reason to rerecord :P )

I thought the reason none of the songs were on rockband is because the original recordings were on tape and they couldn't separate the vocals from the guitar playing on the tape cause they were recorded together. I don't think the legal rights were an issue cause reprise have the rights to those albums too since 2007 or 2008

Yea, I also thought that. I'm sure they mentioned it in an interview one time, and it was also stated on Static Noise that it was the reason they didn't include the albums

Hmm, you're probably right. I haven't heard the interview in a while, so my facts are probably screwed up. But then again, you just gave another reason to rerecord the album. :)

"Curiosity killed the cat" is just a saying.

It just means being too curious can get you in trouble,

just be patient and we'll get answers eventually

The albums were recorded in the early 90's by a independent label with mediocre recording equipment, what to do expect? Plus, I like the gritty sound the album has.

 I kinda did give another reason. Id be very surprised if that's what they are up to though.

Well, you wouldn't expect much, that's why the whole rerecording idea came into place. :D And that's fine, I'm sure they would still keep the none-rerecorded versions up to buy, just incase a few people like you want to have the gritty feel. :)

In my opinion, the raw-ness and shitty quality of those albums is one of the things that made them great in a strange way :P

say if green day does switch to lookout records, they must taking a whole new approach to this record since they have been reprise records since dookie.

Nah, Larry Livermore left Lookout Records years ago. It's not gonna be to do with Lookout.

That's true. And I agree with you that it made the albums good in a unique way, but I know some Green Day fans that don't own those two albums beause of the raw-ness and shitty quality. :ermm: I honestly don't give a fuck about how it sounds as long as it's Green Day, but some people do.

"A few people"? I think it'd be more than a few people :P. It would be interesting to hear a new take on the old songs but you couldn't beat the originals! They're amazing albums and they're full of songs about teenage concerns being played by teenagers. Billie was singing about those thoughts and feelings as he was experiencing them. It would be cool to hear new versions but they'd never have that same authenticity and wouldn't be anywhere near as special.

Well Larry, I think I speak for all of us over here when I say that we're extremely excited to hear the full details on what you're talking about! Can you offer a little hint? Something to tide us over until you announce fully what you're talking about?

 By "A few people" I meant, "A few people that haven't already bought the albums that want the gritty feel." :) I also think it would be interesting. The only concern I would have is Billie changing the lyrics or guitar riffs or something like that. I wouldn't want a totally different song, I would just want a clearer-sounding version. Y'know? Like, I still want to be able to reconize that Dry Ice, is Dry Ice. No added on lyrics or changed basslines.
