JDookie
Well, I don't know where I should put this, so I started a new topic. Mods could merge it with another, if they think it's better. Last night I "studied" Dookie booklet and I noticed something strange with the background... Some songs' backgrounds are linked but not in the sense of the album... Here what I found: I think She should be the first and its background is linked with the Burnout's one (you can see a little doodle on the floor which starts in She and ends in Burnout); Having a Blast is linked with Pulling Teeth (the black spot on the floor and the brick); Chump is linked with Welcome to Paradise ( in the left of this one there's a slice of a guy drawn in Chump); When I Come Around is linked with Sassafras Roots (in the left of this you can see a slice of WICA square, in the right of WICA you can see a line wich continues in Sassafras Root and the beginning of a brick); Coming Clean with In the End ( there's In the End guy arm in Coming Clean background). What do you know about? There was a big picture of the album? But why in this order? ( I can't understand the break between Chump and Longview). And, do you know the meaning of sigles (ASJ, NJC)? Who is P Hynes?
kristinsinferno
I don't know about the order. Probably they drew out everything in that order and then decided to rearrange the songs. P. Hynes wrote all the lyrics and put together to booklet, pretty much.
Hermione
Ha! Years ago on here someone noticed this and posted scans of the pages fitted together, I'll try and find them in a minute. You and whoever that was have good observation skills! And yeah my guess is the booklet was made before they decided on the tracklisting. Cool to see though. I think most of the initials and stuff have some significance to the local area/local punk scene, anyone know anything more specific?
Hermione
Yay found them. Thanks to the person who originally posted these scans, don't know who it was I'm afraid Pretty cool to see how the pictures match up
Undómiel
I think out of the droodles my favourite has got to be the one for chump or for coming clean...
WestboundSign!
I think it's a bit weird - however - I really like the fact that pages which are not next to each other fit together..
Four.
When you print out magazines or booklets, the last page and first page are together, and so on until the middle... if that was understandable? Maybe that's how it's supposed to fit?
pasalaska
ooh, I've noticed this before too! I'm assuming they got the artwork done and then decided the tracklist
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love
That's so cool! I never would have noticed
Stormy Haze
This is so cool! I've looked at the Dookie booklet for so many times, yet I've never noticed this. Thanks for pointing this out and thanks Hermione for posting the scans
JDookie
And yeah my guess is the booklet was made before they decided on the tracklisting. Cool to see though. But... Chump must be followed by Longview... That's what I can't understand! However, thanks for posting photos, I haven't noticed the Basket Case's one. Another pretty thing is the bottle ( if my memory serves me right, it's in Welcome to Paradise background) on which is written
Florence
That's so cool. I've never noticed that the pictures match up. I think the original booklet started with "She", because there's a writing on the left that says "Green Day Dookie! "
Nobody Likes Cam
Wow, that's really cool. I've never stared at the book for hours on end tho, so I would've never noticed. These are the little things only true GD fans notice/think of
green day is
That's amazing! Thanks for noticing and thanks for the scans. But... Chump must be followed by Longview... That's what I can't understand! But what if the booklet was made before the songs were recorded? Then it wouldn't have had to have been followed by Longview, because they might not have been transitional yet. Hermione
But... Chump must be followed by Longview... That's what I can't understand! However, thanks for posting photos, I haven't noticed the Basket Case's one. Another pretty thing is the bottle ( if my memory serves me right, it's in Welcome to Paradise background) on which is written 80 True. My guess is the guy who made the booklet didn't know that Chump and Longview had to go together. And the 80 on the bottle, I never thought about that! Usually you get bottles that say "40" on them in the US, so the 80 must be a reference to the Green Day song. I like it!
Laura!
Whoa, that's awesome! I've looked at the Dookie booklet so many times and haven't noticed this before!
