This is too awesome!! Just a couple of weeks ago I was doodling Kirk Hammett playing with mike dirnt in my notebook!! (Tim mcilrath was on vocals and Dom Howard was on drums) 0.o metallica and green day are 2/3 of my favorite bands of all time! The only bad thing about that is you can't wear a green day shirt to a Metallica concert, you'll get beat up. And I always thought that Billie Joe hated Metallica for some reason...

"A festival? With GD? It's my nail and your coffin pal.."

Billie probably means that a festival with Green Day would be unfortunate for every other band because they would blow every other band away. They are considered the best live band.

Green Day has the "nail" for their "coffin", so GD has the "power" to put every other band to the background.

That's at least how I would interprete it.

Or Billie's tweet doesn't have anything to do with that.

My thoughts on a Green Day/Metallica/U2 concert - I'm not a fan of neither Metallica nor U2 - I've never actually really listened to them. Can someone recommend a good album for both so I can get kinda into them before this actually happens?

Totally Agree with u :D they hav the power ^^

That would be so fuckin awesome :33

That would be one wierd concert.. 3 completely different bands there. Obviously, Green Day deserve the headline slot, but who do you reckon would actually get it?

I don't think there really would be one single headliner. They'd probably all get equal playing time, whether it was on one day, or stretched across several.

Realistically U2, they are bigger and have been around longer than both the other bands. Personally I would say Metallica

I still stand by that if anything were to come of this I believe it will be a 3 day touring festival, with each of the 3 headlining the 3 nights.

I'm just hoping that they're doing a tri-album. Think about it, a Green Day/Metallica/U2 album? Holyshitorgasm

One single song would be cool. A whole album? Thanks but no thanks.

That would be incredible!! I love all those bands (Green Day definitely the most)!! I really hope something like this happens!!

Definitely just one song. A whole album might be too overwhelming...

It just isn't realistic and I'm happy about that.

Er, I don't really know if it's a good idea to revive an old thread, but...

Not sure so much about Metallica. I've never really heard their music, but I respect the fact that they are a good band.

As for U2, from what I've seen they get along great with Green Day. In fact, in a recent issue of Kerrang that had an article about Billie Joe, it said that Billie Joe counted Bono among his closest celebrity friends. Also, at the end of their performance in New Orleans, Billie Joe is seen giving the Edge a hug. I don't think Billie Joe would give someone a hug if he didn't like him. In interviews and articles, the two bands always talk about what a good time they had doing music together. I'm pretty sure this is a pretty amicable relationship for those of you who don't know. Oh yeah, and when U2 was in Oakland recently they had tequila with Green Day.

In addition, I've been to three of U2's concerts now on three seperate occasions and every one of them was spectacular and amazing. Trust me, if this fesival or whatever does happen, you guys will not be disappointed in the performance U2 gives.

As for BJ's tweet, I think that was likely unrelated. If not, then it was probably just Billie Joe's idea of a joke in order to goad his friends in the two other bands. There wasn't any deep, sinister meaning behind it.

Lars Ulrich of metallica was aked about this again recently.

http://www.mtv.co.uk/news/metallica/392972-metallica-for-u2-green-day-joint-tour

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has revealed his band recently agreed to tour with fellow rock giants U2 and Green Day. In an interview with MTV News to promote Metallica's 3D concert movie Through the Never, Ulrich told us the bands have talked about joining forces and going on tour together. "U2 came to San Francisco two summers ago and we ended up having a lot to drink with them and Green Day following a dinner," explained the Dane, who formed Metallica in 1981 with frontman James Hetfield. "I was told in the wee morning hours following this outing that members of U2, Green Day and Metallica agreed to tour together. We haven't talked about it since, but speaking for myself I'd be very up for that.

200 bucks is the cost of nose bleed sections at an average U2 concert Metallica is high as fuck too we'd be looking at 300-400 for godawful seats

Plus Green Day would be the only good band playing...

Oh yeah, it'd be overpriced to sodding fuck. U2 and Metallica are so fucking shit for overpricing things. Even GD are up by €20 on their last tour.

I'd watch it on Youtube or some shit.
