St. Dan
Just because they have long ass solos, doesn't mean they 'lack creativity'. Most metal bands have long songs. And if they do 'lack creativity', why are they considered to be one of the best and most influential metal bands of all time? And you're contradicting yourself there...you're talking about how metalheads are arrogant and don't appreciate Green Day, yet you're bashing Metallica and talking arrogantly about Green Day. What can I say, I'm a "walking contradiction" . You know, Justin Beiber is also conisdered influential (I copied your winking skills ) I was just saying every Metalhead I've met mocks Green Day when IN MY OPINION (had to caps it so there wouldn't be any confusion) they have long solos that make up for their lack of etc. But hey, I guess it all comes down to personal opinion yknow? I mean, I listen to Megadeth and Iron Maiden, and I have to admit some of their solos are way too long, and lets just say Dave Mustaine and James Hetfield aren't the best vocalist and, IN MY OPINION, I prefer Bille Joe and Green Day. Back on track, can anyone else imagine the ticket prices? Theyd be at least $120 + am I right?
gerardsangel4977
I have to say...while I recognize that everyone has different tastes and, therefore, doesn't have to like all of these bands, I do think it's sad that so many of the fans have such a hard time respecting the other artists and, more importantly, respecting each other. Billie's been playing that snippet of Master of Puppets in their shows for eons, and Lars Ulrich listed American Idiot as one of the best albums of the last decade for Rolling Stone. And I don't think I need to explain the Green Day/U2 side of things as this point. People are obviously entitled to their preferences, but these fan-created rivalries are ridiculous and useless. Isabel
I shudder at the thought of how much tickets would cost.

Agree 100%. Those bands like each other, musically and, apparently, also personally. It's mostly the "fans" who think that the universe circles around "their" band. That being said, I wouldn't go to see this thing, unless I could watch from my balcony. I'd prefer a GD show a million times. I know that Metallica and U2 are accomplished musicians and whatnot, and I respect them, their music and their fans. It's just that I just don't like them at all. U2's music is just plain boring and don't even get me started on Bono. Metallica's music I like even less; I'm not a Metal head at all (I do love SOAD), and James Hetfield is anything but a exciting singer. So, no thanks, as far as I'm concerned, they can bury the whole idea right away. Although I have to admit, if this did happen, I might just watch it on youtube... greendaytone
Just got to watch this. It re-affirms why i don't want to go to a U2 concert, that was quite painful in between song banter. They were pretty gracious though, i'll give them that. I wouldn't bet on this happening, and i think Billie's tweet was aimed at that. Sounds like they just had a good jolly up the night before, and talked about the idea. Nothing more concrete than that.

InvaderPhantom
"A festival? With GD? It's my nail and your coffin pal.." Billie probably means that a festival with Green Day would be unfortunate for every other band because they would blow every other band away. They are considered the best live band. Green Day has the "nail" for their "coffin", so GD has the "power" to put every other band to the background. That's at least how I would interprete it. Or Billie's tweet doesn't have anything to do with that. My thoughts on a Green Day/Metallica/U2 concert - I'm not a fan of neither Metallica nor U2 - I've never actually really listened to them. Can someone recommend a good album for both so I can get kinda into them before this actually happens?

U2 I'd say go for their 18 singles album
Kirstin
I'm not too fond of the idea. I mean I can understand U2 but Metallica is so different from them. I don't really like U2 and I don't know many Metallica songs, so if it happens I won't go. The tickets would be too much anyway. I agree completely! I don't like U2 either and I wouldn't want to see Metallica and Green Day in the same show...seems weird. And you're right the tickets would probably be crazy expensive
