Yeah, and where are you getting your information?

Personally, it seems to me like everyone is reading a little too much into this. I don't really think the three of them were collaborating on something, just getting together for shiggles. But if it does end up being true, I'll definitely support the boys despite my mild interest for U2 and my plain distaste for Metallica. I will say though, Billie's tweet was quite poetic in a way.

not sure what to make of this..

Obviously a fan of green day, plus I think it would be sick to see U2 live. And i guess ive never really given Metallica that much of a chance. but it does sound pretty cool.

Tickets would be super expensive for sure...but i wouldn't pass up an oppurtunity to see green day live like this. and knowing these three bands, they'd make a movie or something out of this major event in music history haha.

Ok so now the rumors start, this would be epic but I'm not going to build up any hope. I don't know if Billies tweet is encouraging the idea or trying to kill the idea though.

Nail in the coffin sounds like he is saying it won't happen

If this is real, I'd go for Green Day, but the tickets would be really expensive and probably sell out faster than just Green Day shows alone!

I tend to doubt this, just because Metallica are doing their Big Four stuff, plus working on a new album / project.

Yeah but things that start out as a drunken conversation have a way of happening sometime.

True. There's no reason it for sure couldn't happen, I just tend to doubt it.

The only reason I'm any sort of excited for this is because it's GD performing live. I'm indifferent about Metallica (ooh) and I can't stand bono and U2.

Saying that though, the tickets would be crazy expensive, and no doubt they'd sell out super quick.

And I don't wanna have to compete for barrier with two other fandoms

Well, if they had some kind of three-day thing with each band headlining on a different nite, and you could get tickets for just one nite or the whole thing, and the overall price was set to GD standards, it'd be ok.

Read about this in my local newspaper :D

It said "We have were partying with Green Day and Metallica last night!"

My dad enied tickets to that show *facepalm*

And yeah playing on "the claw" would be cool

it would be better if they did a track or two !! don't you think so !!

Green Day & U2 already did "The Saints are Coming"

Green Day and Metallica! :woot: That would be awesome if something actually would go down, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

U2 is okay, but.. they're just not my thing. Especially after seeing that video, Bono talks for like 8 fucking minutes, christ.

thats what I`ve just been thinking.

"my nail" = Billies decision. in other words he hasnt made his mind up. "your coffin" = you will be the ones who end up looking bad if this happens.

we are probably reading way too much into this whole thing but if Billie hasnt made his mind up yet (and if Mike and Tre werent there for the conversation I doubt he has) I would imagine he wouldnt be too happy about this being mentioned so quickly. maybe they have discussed this previously but if this hasnt been talked through properly yet then its a bit silly starting rumours like this. all I keep thinking about is the Pop Disaster tour

I think i've kept the right amount of skepticism in any posts related to this. It's clear we know nothing, and it's possible not even the band knows what will come of this. But, it was mentioned at the U2 show, not sure what they would have expected. I just assume they have U2 fans that are as crazy as Green Day fans.

They could do a live version of that Master of Puppets Brain Stew mashup that was posted a while back :woot:

That would be so sick

as an ex-U2 fan..... yeah just as crazy!

personally I couldnt afford to go to a normal green day gig at the mo, never mind a festival with all three bands playing! plus I`ve no real interest in seeing U2 these days and I`ve never had the urge to listen to Metallica never mind go to one of their gigs.

and there was me thinking we were passed the festival rumours until next year! silly Billie! lol

I think Billie's tweet is sort of saying that it would be no good. Like that would be a disaster. Which, I would agree. I would not go to see that.

Somehow I think it really could be a disaster. And it would be damn expensive.

But anyway.. it sounds awesome. Green Day and Metallica :woot:

I really don't understand why a thread's been started and people are getting excited. All the 'proof' there is consists of a newspaper article that only said they went out of dinner and a nonsensical tweet that might not even refer to it. Do you really think U2 & Metallica would want to share their tour revenue or share the bill with another band ? If it turns out to be true, fine. But I REALLY doubt it

As Aska said, i'd hate sharing the pit with the metallica and U2 fans.
