As far as the song selection goes, Awesome as Fuck is perfect. Bullet in A Bible didn't really have the variety Awesome as Fuck dose.

Fair warning- I'm gonna mad rant about BIAB's dvd like a huge film nerd! To be fair it was shot very well and the asides were really nice to include. But it was all RUINED in post production. The amount of crappy color filters and bad cuts is horrendous! Which ever editor added those grainy, gimmicky, over-saturated mess of effects should be smacked. There were so many jarring shots -I'm not sure if it was on purpose or not- but it took me as a viewer out of the 'concert experience' into more of a 'icky music video' feeling. I also felt the spent a lot of time focused on Billie in places when Tre or Mike should have gotten some face time. I get that he's the 'front man' and all, but it was overkill. I think this has a lot to do with Bayer's background in music videos; live shows don't seem to be his thing. Anyway, AAF did not make this mistake, it captured their live show very well without too much distraction. Nice smooth cuts and a fair amount of each member of the band. A show that good dose not need massive, obvious editing. My only complaint is that it could have used some asides between songs.

For the DVD i think its too early to tell. I wouldn't be able to say for another few months. The CD part AAF is way better :)

what's up with all the Sam Bayer hate?

I like Sam "the Bear".

I prefer BIAB. the DVD: because of its content (interviews, backstage stuff... )

AAF. the CD: because there are two songs from a concert I've been to. :D

I like AAF better, I liked the fluid editing better on the DVD. I haven't actually listened to the BIAB CD, but AAF's lineup is close to impossible to beat imo.

this is hard because AAF has better tracks and it flows better then BIAB. but i did like the backstage stuff on BIAB.

so the perfect one for me would have the flow of AAF and have backstage stuff at the end

CD: DEFINITELY Awesome As Fuck

DVD: Hmm not so sure. BIAB is a more complete Green Day show and has more of the silly antics I love, but AAF captures the overall joyful feeling of being at a Green Day show better and has more cool rare songs. On the negative side BIAB has that bloody Sam Bayer segment and that stupid knocking on a tank thing, but AAF as no King For A Day . Equal so far.

They both have annoying and unnecessary effects but AAF's are worse. And BIAB has cool interviews. So BIAB is the winner! But it's close.

CD: AAF... Perfect mix of oldschool and newschool.

DVD: BIAB... Interviews, its epic, and doesn't have annoying camera bits

BIAB's DVD was better, AAF's CD was better.

AAF is basically Chris Dugan showing off and trying to upstage the band.

BIAB by miles. i liked the way it was edited better than it was in AAF and i loved the behind the scenes stuff.

i also liked the set list better.

AAF is still incredible though.

I like AAF better. Milton Keynes' crowd was ginormous and it was a historic concert, but I just think most of the songs performed were kind of average (and they took out four songs!) . That's what usually happens when you take all tracks from one concert (i still like Live At Leeds and Live At Reading though). On AAF, they had the freedom to choose tracks from any show during the tour, and they took great versions of almost every song (Holden Caulfield and JAR!).

Overall, I like everything better about AAF, but I do miss the "interview" segments from BIAB

BIAB! For sure. I'll never get sick of it. The fact that AAF dvd is from Tokyo makes me relate more to Milton Keynes, reminds me more of the shows I've gone to myself.

BIAB... AAF as amazing as it is, it just didn't have the same effect on me... Though the CD in AAF was better, I still much rather Bullet in a Bible...

As I said in the AAF thread, they played the songs more strait-through, and I prefer that to all the fucking around. (was expecting a little more fucking around though.)

I've got to go with Awesome As Fuck. I'm a sucker for novelty, but the 21CB tour also meant a lot more to me. I wasn't around for American Idiot, so I don't feel the same connection to BIAB. As for AAF, I was at those shows. I cried and moshed at those shows, so it's much more personal to me. I also think the band's live performance has matured since the AI era, and the new live album showcases that nicely.

while it seems a little premature to me to really make this decision, i really prefer Bullet in a Bible.

This was a really hard choice. Essentially, BIAB is better because of the insightful interviews with the band, the insert they added about Tre, and the visual effects were very cool. However, I voted for AAF because of the playlist. AAF has a variety of songs chosen, like they added Burnout, shit, I had a mini panic attack when I found out they added that. And AAF brought nostalgia for me since I went to the 21stCB tour.

Awesome as Fuck. Mainly because I personally think that Billie's vocals sounded a lot better through-out the performances. But don't get me wrong, I still love Bullet in a Bible.

The performances on Bullet in a Bible had a more emotional impact on me than Awesome as Fuck. Not to mention, BIAB has other content besides live performances.

Awesome as Fuck is nice, but... know your enemy is on it...and basket case isn't... and everything's too pink...

Honestly though, I like Awesome as Fuck. It's cool that they included Cigarettes and Valentines, Burnout, and J.A.R. but I prefer Bullet in a Bible

AAF, FTW!

I just think it's more of a concert experience which is what a concert DVD is meant to be. Most of the songs that are on AAF I prefer to BIAB. And it goes on for longer :D.
