uhleckseee
I just got back from seeing the show in Costa Mesa tonight. I absolutely loved it and was blown away! The voices sometimes drowned out, which if I didn't already know the songs I would have maybe been confused, but otherwise it was such a blast! Nagged me a shirt, too, so I'm pretty stoked to rep American Idiot.

Apparently Van has to go home for a spell, so Gabe is going to take his place till the weekend. So I get to see Gabe as Johnny! Should be interesting. Should be interesting. My god Gabe is amazing! Van is a fantastic Johnny, but Gabe just fits the role so much better. And personally he's a lot nicer, and easier, to talk to. desertrose
American Idiot The Musical Check out this awesome video of Joshua Kobak talking about being able to play St. Jimmy on the road! Know Your American Idiots! Joshua Kobak Gets to Have ‘Wicked Fun’ as St. Jimmy The characters of Green Day’s rock opera American Idiot are coming to Seattke from June 5 through June 10. Broadway.com is bringing you the scoop on this story of three lifelong friends choosing between their dreams and the safety of suburbia. Joshua Kobak plays St. Jimmy, a nefarious dealer who introduces Johnny—the musical’s lead character—to “the intoxicating life of elicit drug use.” Whether he is a real-life enabler or the “embodiment of Johnny’s addiction,” St. Jimmy is a larger-than-life stage presence. Watch Kobak talk about the freedom to act like a “god” on stage and have “wicked fun.” http://seattle.broad...un-as-st-jimmy/

Most of my memories of him have been awkward. LOL. I mean, his jersey for softball was "Creepy." I really wished that Leslie was Whatsername on tour but I totally understand her doing Heather. kelly42fox
Get this... The stairs broke yesterday. They wouldn't unlock and couldn't be moved, so they had to improvise all the scenes with them out of regular place. Death of St Jimmy was especially weird. But the cast did an excellent job hiding the fact. On another note... Gabe is quite good as Johnny, but he's too full of spite/bitterness. He has a LOVELY voice, and his When It's Time, BoBD, and Whatsername are EXCELLENT. I still relate more to Van's portrayal. He's bitter but remorseful ('I know I fucked up'), which is more self aware. I like that. I'm still really glad I got to see Gabe play the role.

Guest
I wouldn't say awkward. I would say reserved. He is a sweetheart and quite patient with fans. When I met Van for the second time he acted like he kept wanting to talk to me, it was really awkward when I had to walk away He is absolutely lovely though! kelly42fox
I would have loved to see that. How'd they end up doing Death of SJ? The 'mourning party' knelt in front of Jimmy, a little stage right and left, and Johnny knelt in front of them downstage from Jimmy... And Johnny had to blow a kiss to Whatsername instead of snogging her.

Hmm, for some reason, I get no sound when watching those videos - and there's sound when I listen to itunes Maybe you're screaming out of range of my speakers! WestboundSign!
I didn't have the time to post here during my vacation so far, but now that I have, I have to say something: OH MY GOD! I saw American Idiot for the very first time on May 29th and I had more than just a blast. Definitely one of the greatest evenings of my life so far. I knew that the musical was awesome. Everybody told me. But I didn't expect it to be THIS awesome. We had seats in the 6th row. It was so amazing, I'm still completely stunned. Okay. Sorry everyone, I had to do this. But I'm kinda sad I won't get the chance to see it again, besides them coming to Germany. I actually doubt it..
