Heather.
Tom Hanks was there... pretty cool IMO, and hopefully it'll get him more pumped to get his production company rolling on the film... I wondered if he saw it on Broadway or just decided to option the film on a whim.

plaid ducky
Every Spring and Fall, many shows (both Broadway, off-Broadway, and touring) do a collection of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Usually a cast member (usually a lead) makes a speech about BC/EFA and what they do. Anyways, the tour just started collecting so if you're going to a show, free feel to drop some money in the buckets that the cast will have out when you leave the theater. They also have things for sale as well. I saw posters but I'm not sure how much they are and if there is anything besides posters.
plaid ducky
Some more non-equity dates for next year: Pittsburgh, PA (February 19, 2013 through February 24, 2013) Columbus, OH (March 19, 2013 through March 24, 2013) This goes along with previously announced stops: Philadelphia, PA (February 12-17, 2013) Hartford, CT (February 26-March 3, 2013) Dayton, OH (March 12-14, 2013) Baltimore, MD (May 7-12, 2013) Tampa Bay, FL (May 17-19, 2013) San Diego, CA (May 28-June 2, 2013) Once again, non-equty means non-union. The current tour cast is equity/union, so none of them will be on tour next year.
Heather.
It's fascinating to me that they book the non-equity dates but presumably they haven't casted and also, the production team won't be the same?

It's a common practice at any level. Announce dates/theaters before announcing a cast or even casting a cast. They did the same thing for the current tour if you recall, even the Broadway production. I believe the production crew will also change. It'll be very close to the original in terms of direction & choreography, though.

Guest
Is the UK tour equity or non-equity? I don't know if that's a stupid question or not. :')
plaid ducky
Is the UK tour equity or non-equity? I don't know if that's a stupid question or not. :') Not a stupid question. I'm leaning towards Equity. I've heard two different things: (1) that they'll take some members of the current tour and (2) it'll be a complete different cast. *shrugs*

Jaymee!!
I asked Josh if any of them would be going over to do the show, and he said more than likely not. Also, I remember seeing his tweet about the video but I didn't watch it until just now. I loved it
BringMoreKnives
As I posted in the Q&A thread, this guy I know went to see the musical Wicked last weekend in Norfolk, Virginia, and he said he saw a sign or something saying that the American Idiot musical is going to be there in January (2013). I hope that's true. And could someone explain the "non-equity" thing to me in more detail, please? I know absolutely nothing about theater/musicals, and I haven't been keeping up with the AI musical as much as other people.

I know absolutely nothing about theater/musicals, and I haven't been keeping up with the AI musical as much as other people. It basically just means none of the current cast will be on the show and it's no longer part of a union. The set might be a bit different as well as it's going to be a smaller production. (At least I think...)

plaid ducky
It's always hilarious when they use the promo of the closing Broadway cast and have John's voice come out of Van's mouth.
