"American Idiot" Musical Tour

I've only read it from his fuckyeah-dedicated account on Tumblr, but apparently Matt Deangelis has been confirmed to be an ensemble member for the tour.

Yes, this is true. He'll be understudy for Will & St. Jimmy as well (RE: my previous post). He's currently Woof on the "Hair" Tour which is currently playing at the St. James. :)

Plaid, if you already know who's going to be playing the roles on the tour, why don't you share it with the rest of us instead of being so secretive? I can understand if you're finding out information before the talent actually officially announces the news themselves, but I'm pretty certain that that's not always the case.

The show kicks off in less than 6 months, I know some of us are getting pretty excited for what's to come!

Actually, besides Matt and Nicci (who someone mentioned earlier), I don't know if any other person officially on tour. Yes, there are rumors but those aren't definite.

I'm not trying to secretive. I just want facts straightened out before making a statement.

Would you want someone going around "Green Day is going to be playing at Rockwood Music Hall on August 5th" and not have any real thing backing it up? No, because that would create chaos and if it isn't true, people would be upset.

The tour cast, whoever they are, will eventually be announced. Matt said that the announcement will be soon. And for what it's worth, my friend told me about Matt but asked me to keep it on the down-low as she confirmed if it was okay to share.

Tickets for Toronto have gone on sale...TCFA, why you so expensive?

Clicky clicky

This is my worst fear. I don't even think I could afford the cheapest ticket if these prices in Toronto are reflective of what Detroit's will be. :(

I think the theater itself determines the prices, so who knows.

And I wonder when the tickets for Detroit are going to go on sale. All it says on the site is "on sale soon"

Yeah I nearly had a baby when I saw the prices for the LA tickets... then I realised that they were season tickets. I think.

(I saw a page saying that they were $450 and I was like - WTF?!?!?)

They better give us fair notice. I need time to get money together before they go on sale. But no, I'm sure they'll have the onsale date be the second it's announced.

When I called the TCFA months and months ago, back when a tour was first announced, I was given those prices. But I didn't think they'd actually stick with them. Seriously $180, plus tax, for ONE ticket in the lower half of orchestra? And the very back of the balcony is around $70 I believe. Toronto is the show's longest stop, the only Canadian performance...how do they expect to get big numbers with outrageous prices like that? Man oh man...even center orchestra tickets at the St. James weren't that expensive.

I'm really sad to say that it's going to narrow down my viewing to just 1 performance, instead of a few like I had originally planned. Toronto, this is just another reason why you suck so much.

That is shockingly expensive. I never thought they would be more expensive than on Broadway.

At this stage, I feel like an investor in the damn thing.

Same here.

Damn. I don't want the tickets to cost this much in Costa Mesa.

The whole California vacation is expensive enough. I can't afford buying those tickets then..

I didn't expect them to be cheap.. but this is way too much.

PJ is not likely. In fact, when the rumor was brought to him, he laughed and said that it was news to him.

Ben is a 'no.' He has RENT plus his wife will be on Broadway again and he's not going to leave her to go on tour.

Oh my goodness that is crazy! Yeah, I was planning on seeing it 2-3 times, I guess if the California tickets are anywhere near those prices, I'm gonna have to stick to one performance as well. :(

That sucks. I don't understand how average people (by which I mean non-dedicated fans like those of us who are heavily involved with the fandom) can justify that. If I were only a casual fan, I sure as hell couldn't pay that. Hell, I adore the band and would love to see the show, and I can't justify that!

Just saw this posted on fb by a friend of mine. We think it's just a gossip story. I can't see him as Johnny at all.

I guess it'll be hardcore fans + rich adult 'theatergoers' I definitely can't see a show at that price. And I don't understand it. I mean, I guess tours cost more money because you're moving sets and travel expenses, so maybe that's why they have higher prices? But honestly, you shouldn't be charging more than broadway, and you can always find a bad seat at a broadway show for $45. I used to see Rent over and over again for $20 in the lotto, and those were front row!

I agree, the tickets are a bit expensive. I mean, I wouldn't mind paying it, it's just, it's a bit ridiculous, don't you think?

Prices are determined by the theatre and usually the demand for the show. If you're younger, check to see if there are any discount programs at your theatre. Or maybe if there's a rush or lotto.

For example, the Kennedy Center has the ATTEND program which allows those between the age 17 and 25. They have seats for shows between $5 and $25 for ATTEND members for regular price tickets that are usually $78 to $125. So, check your theatre. Maybe not right now but when it gets closer to when tickets go on sale.

Also, check the Broadway Across America website and sign up for their e-club. You'll get notices of when tickets go on sale and sometimes they give out discount codes for certain shows. Goldstar also has discounted tickets on sale sometimes as well, but look closer to when the tour is actually in the city you're planning on going to.

i saw the same thing....

I cant wait to find out when Detroit goes onsale... but I agree with everyone.. I hope it isnt as expensive as we all think... damn... I have a hard enough time adjusting to going from a 8 dollar main floor ticket in 1994 to 70 plus dollars now for a gd show... inflation much? I hope like everyone else we get enough advance time to save up.. or decide to save up

I might be going to one of the preformances in PA. Depending on how money and school is going for me in the next few months.

Who knows if ticket prices are as steep as you guys are mentioning. Well, hope to see some of you there.

Knowing LA has the mindset that we're all rich motherfuckers, the prices will be high. I can see it already.

Unfortunately, I think the rationale for those higher prices as opposed to NYC ones is that you're paying the high prices because you don't have the extra costs of traveling and such factored in. Also, I think they know that people will buy the tickets no matter what, since it's a limited engagement. Those cheap tickets in NYC are like loss-leaders, they want to fill as many seats as they can to recoup any cost, yknow? I get it, but, exactly like you said, it's just going to be rich people. Meh.
