I was sobbing at the end of Jesus of Suburbia after watching that video and then I hear Tre's.. "Happy Easter and shit"

shit, I forgot Easter was today...or yesterday or whatever the fuck.

but yeah, tonight...or yesterday night was fucking amazing.

even though I didn't see the play, just being there was great and fan-fucking-tastic and I'm glad to say that I was there.

but, when I saw the lights go off at the St. James, I got really sad...not gonna lie.

I just stared at it and went "Awww..."

Had such an amazing night tonight. The show itself was amazing, Billie Joe was brilliant as St. Jimmy. The show afterward was also brilliant.

I tried to take mental notes of all the cool stuff, but it's 4am, just got back from a bar with J'net, Tony, and some other GDC'ers, and my memory is not going to work. I had a whole quarter of a glass of wine. Obviously I'm in no solid condition.

The best part of them playing was Billie kept doing stuff to make Mike and Tre laugh. every time he'd do something stupid or silly, he'd look over at Mike, who was always cracking up. I think someone mentioned the german accent (which was pretty much Russian), and he changed the lyrics to one of the songs (can't remember which one) to "because now I'm a playwright".

One of his stories was about how he was so nervous when he was asked to play St. Jimmy. He said "I was walking down West Side Highway saying "Please, god, help me, even though you're not there". "

I don't know if someone posted his rant or not. "2004. We had one war, and one of the worst Presidents in history. 2011. We have 3 wars, and an intelligent man as President, but he's still fucking everything up". It was something along those lines.

Oh yeah, he called out for John Gallagher Jr. when the band was playing, then said "Hey John, why don't you go back to Jerusalem!" (That's the new play John is in). Then said "We're in America!" then sang this from the "Team America" theme song - "America, FUCK YEAH! So lick my butt, and suck on my balls,"

J'net had the idea of making signs for the show for the 4 of us (me, tony, j'net, omar) to hold up, which said "It was worth all the while". We ended up printing about 100 of them and handing them out to people all across the orchestra section. During Good Riddance we all held them up. There were also some signs that Shannon made that said "love happened here" and "it's fuck time". It was really awesome that a bunch of people were holding them up, and right as song was ending, Tony threw about 50 of them up in the air, some landed on the stage and one of the cast members picked one up and held it. It just all felt very poetic.

It was also emotional. So many of the cast members had tears in their eyes during various parts of the show. During 'Whatsername', Rebecca was holding back tears, and it seemed like a lot of the cast were pretty damn emotional during Good Riddance. It was when I saw them reacting to it when it hit me how attached so many of them are to this project. It's been a part of their daily lives for over a year. It was sad thinking that exact set wouldn't be used anymore, and this cast wouldn't be together again.

When Green Day was playing, Billie said "this isn't a party, it's a fucking celebration". And I think having Green Day end the show was brilliant. It definitely ended the show on a high note, pumping everyone up, and not having everyone leave feeling like everything was coming to an end.

Right before Green Day started playing, Michael Mayer gave a little speech where he praised Green Day and Billie Joe. He said something like "Let's remember that American Idiot started in Oakland, CA with three guys. Billie, Mike, and Tre. Billie, I just have to say, you're a fucking poet." then he went on to praise Billie for his passion and being genuine and putting that all into the work. Then Michael Mayer and most of the cast were bowing down around Billie Joe.

The whole night was absolutely special. I wasn't expecting the hour long show, and most definitely not expecting the Bowery stuff. I'm not even the least bit upset we didn't get to go in. It was a private thing for the cast, and tonight was their night. I can totally understand why Green Day fans weren't a part of it, and I can totally respect it. All of us had already experienced a night that many other people would have killed to have had, so really, how could anyone possibly complain.

For only spending 2 days here, I've had the best time. There are some truly incredibly people who are a part of this site, and I was thrilled to have been able to meet so many of them.

For anyone who read my post from yesterday on GDA, I had at least 6 people tell me they wanted to bring me a burrito. It absolutely made my night. I was also put over the top when Kevin Preston 1) remembered me 2) told me he laughed at my post on GDA.

I really can't explain how much this trip has made me appreciate what we do with GDA and GDC. It's crazy to be reminded of the people who have come to these sites, and to have a complete stranger stop me, give me a hug and thank me for the work we do - it's just a mind-blowing experience. It really is.

Thanks for writing all of that, Andres! It was great to read your experience and like Marki. said I can't wait to hear other stories!

Damn, now I've really teared up a little bit.

"...and then we're going over to England and Europe and Japan and Australia..."

I'm 99% sure that they aren't coming here but oh my god :runaround:

I put the lyric he changed is in my signature, it was from Longview :D

This was an awesome night, and I got to meet Tony and (attempt to give a burrito to) Andres.

And its really funny because now I'm watching the news and ANOTHER person got hurt in the Spiderman musical, I'd like to believe it was Green Day's cover of the Spiderman song that made that happen :)

Thanks Andres :)

The setlist is brilliant. Every other band would only play their biggest hits, but Green Day start with a song that has been released 22 years ago. Perfect.

The videos are very cool. It's so amazing to see how tgey're turning the whole thing into a real Green Day show after the first few seconds...

So the Tubbies show was happening after all

*referring to the craziness in here last night*

and omfg the setlist. It is so awesome!

Can't wait to watch all the videos

LMFAO yeah Billies German accent was hilarious and the Spiderman song was funny too

"So a pedophile and a kid walk into the woods, and the kid says 'I'm scared' and the pedophile says 'your scared? I'm the one that has to walk back alone."

I'm not sure about what he said word for word but that was about it lmao.

:o :o :o :o

That is soooo a Cyanide and Happiness joke. though I suppose they didn't come up with it themselves either.

Sorry if this has already been addressed, I'm just reading through the thread now. But YES, THIS IS TRUE. One of the producers said it after GR. He was like "Japan, Europe, Australia, etc" IT'S NOT JUST SPECULATION, A WORLD TOUR IS HAPPENING FOR REAL :woot:

OSJDCOISLKDHFJ:ASNXCKL:MSNAERHFAISDLA:SKHDJAHSDFHSDLCMA:LSDFKJKL:ASDJFC. !!!!!!!!! :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot:

Ahh I was hoping it'd be a non-Tubbies private party followed by possible Tubbies another day. Bet the show wasn't nearly as good as when fans are there :whistle. Fun I'm sure but not in the same league.

But anyway I see I have some videos to watch :woot:, thanks for those! And great recap Andres, what an amazing 2 days! It was fun being on here just hearing what the setlist of the Green Day show was last night, but hearing the details it sounds like it was really extra fun and special. So glad for everyone who was there. And now to watch videos

I cant believe the musical's coming to the UK, there's no way in hell I'm not going. It seems more than likely it'll be in London right?

God, I hope Billie Joe does a run as St Jimmy here, but I guess by then they'll be busy on the new album.

If it's coming to the UK it'll be in London no question! If Billie comes I might go to it :D. But ehh I don't think he will.

Oh also, is anyone ripping the videos of the Green Day show? Someone please do!

Ohh I hope when it comes to London, I'll be able to go.

I'm gonna be sooooooo pissed if it goes to London when I'm not in Europe (which is sorta possible considering I'm seriously considering going to San Francisco for a year-ish after I graduate, which is in 2012....)
