Laura! Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Thanks for finding those Hermione! Those are great.
lawrahday Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Omg these are awesome! billie obviously found it hard to adjust to fatherhood but at least he perfected the couch potato
minorty13 Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Now to find the couch potato article! I loved reading this! It's so cool to hear about Gilman. I wish there was something like that in my life. Just a huge group of misfits with awesome tastes in music that you could turn to when suburbia became a bit too much to handle.
Lu. Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Those things are priceless, and should be kept in the British Museum right next to those Egyptian... things. Thaaaanks a lot for sharing! Loved the last one about the kid, it's so sweet (:
taybay Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Haha this is awesome. Now I see where he gets his stage presence from
*punxx Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 yeah,op ivy are awesome as fuck second fav band- after green day of course
darenmay Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 billie capitalizes the pronoun "I" and the first letter in a sentence. that's all.. wait, it wasn't he who typed that? great read, thanks for sharing!
Burnout98 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Well that was a nice read! Thanks for sharing!
Larry Livermore Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Even though I was a regular contributor to Absolutely Zippo myself, this is the first time I realized that Billie was at that show, or that it was his first Operation Ivy show. I was there, too; in fact I was one of the people who was on stage. Which is where I was when a fat kid jumped on my back and broke my big toe, giving me something to remember that show by until this very day, because it's never been quite right ever since! But even though we were both at that show, it was another 10 months or so before I actually met Billie.
in_your_face Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Thanks for sharing both the articles here.
agrizotti Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 That's some awesome reading. And thanks Larry for sharing his memories too!
-Billiejoezee- Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 This thread is one of the best i've seen. Billie wrote my last name in one of those.
alaniluau Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 It makes me so happy to read tidbits about Operation Ivy, as they're one of my favorite bands as well. Billie's misheard lyrics made my day! The scans that Hermione posted rather piqued my interest. I wish Billie had more time to contribute to zines.
rinu Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Thanks for posting these articles,it was fun to read them
Princess Consuela Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Thank you and Hermione to share those! It was rather interesting to read
ConfirmPassword Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Cool! I loved to read this! Thanks for sharing
Hermione Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 You're welcome, I've seen them posted in loads of places and saved them from somewhere or another ages ago. I thought everyone already had them , would've made a thread for them if I'd known that wasn't the case. I agree they're really interesting, especially the second one about him coming to terms with his life changing. Really admire his honesty, it's quite sad to read but seems like everything turned out well in the end. I also enjoy his spelling of the word "miscellaneous"
