November's Storms
You need it in your life. Try and fit in a sentence without anyone noticing. Or shout MINGERS at Prima Donna and see what they do. Ha, mingers is a term we use here in Ireland and England, hearing it in any other accent would be funny :ol: Eating live octopi being a delicacy or what I think about that aside; what Tre did is not the usual way of eating live animals, it's just cruel. If he wanted to try it, go ahead and go to a restaurant, but I personally think that what he did is cruel and gross. And I haven't forgotten about the fighter fish either, which I think was cruel as well. I think killing an animal just for shits and giggles is cruel, and the octopus thing makes two. [i'm not telling him what he should or shouldn't do, just saying what I think of what he did.] Maybe it is a culture in Asian cuisine to eat live octopus but Tré is hardly one to embrace foreign culture, he acts the same way no matter where he is. And I actually forgot about the fish incident, but yeah it doesn't seem like he has much care for animals. I'm not going to pretend it doesn't make me think a little less of him, but Tré has always been different. Its why I love him, so I have to accept I'm not going to love everything he does differently. He's not looking for my acceptance or anyone elses. Aren't Mike and Billie vegetarians? Surely then Tré would have been influened into showing some concern for animals? Well Tré didnt kill the Octopus, and im not trying to argue the point that animal cruelty is ok, because its not. But eating live octopus is a seen as a delicacy in that part of the world. Its completely different to "yobs" torturing an animal for fun. Tre tried something which is accepted in the country where he was and by the sounds of it he failed miserably. Yeah he's not doing it because he gets kicks out of torturing animals, but he certainly doesn't care about them either.
Fuzz
Aren't Mike and Billie vegetarians? Surely then Tré would have been influened into showing some concern for animals? Nope. Remember that Tweet Billie sent last year that was like a cooked pigs head or something disturbing like that. And Mike with his "chicken salad" in Bullet in a Bible. No idea where the vegetarian thing came from, but I remember they said they weren't in one of the idiot club things.

Billie has said that he used to be a vegetarian like way back, but quit because he lost too much weight, and I don't know where Mike's veggie story came from. But it's quite clear, to me at least, that they're not vegetarians now.
IscoredWaddlesgoals
The thing is, I couldn't care less whether it's a delicacy or not, it doesn't make what he did any less awful.
Ellenkc
I see why people are a bit upset over the octopus thing, but I didn't really take much notice of it in the zine at all. From what I made of it, Tre will eat anything, as proven in another incident, and wanted to try out the live octopus, sure he could have gone to a restaurant and ate it in a more 'civilized' way, but that would take away from the gross out factor, which is probably at least 50% of the reasoning behind that. I don't see how eating it differently would be less cruel, either way the things alive, if it was in a restaurant then it just wouldn't get a chance to strangle him. I don't advocate animal cruelty, but in my opinion this is sort of toeing the line. One one side it's Tre eating a live octopus, one the other it's Tre eating a traditional food while trying to gross a few people out. I can't say the zine had a great view on Tre though, Aaron doesn't seem to get along with him as well as the others. I was laughing my ass off at the image of Tre dipping one of those annoying photographesr in and out of a shark pool. How the fuck did they even get near it? blitzkriegdeb
I never thought of the day when we'd be arguing over a damned octopus. But anyway, I agree with Andres. Yeah, it was cruel, and it's really fucked up that he did it, but I don't know, it's not really bothering me. It's not like it was something he did consistently, as someone said earlier in the thread he seems to be a fan of dogs or whatever. It seems like (what I tried to piece together) he may have gotten caught up in a moment, and as we all know he is a bit fucked in the head, he just took it overboard. I'm not trying to defend the guy by any means, as I said it was pretty fucked, but I don't know, I'm not gonna look at him and think "oh my god animal abuser" or whatever. Mar
So, this is definitely worth the price? Anyone know how much shipping is for Americans?
Tripe
I am also in Ohio also and I think shipping was maybe $6? I got two issues, so it might be slightly less shipping for just one.
Bastard of 1967
That Tré eating the octopus story wasn't half as bad as I was expecting it to be. Sounds to me like the Octopus got the better of Tré. Just gave you +1rep for the new sig. Love it, love it, love it.

alaniluau
I finally picked up my copy today at Bluestockings! The gal at the store was a big fan too, which made me happy. Gotta love great independent bookstores. As much as I am chomping at the bits to start it, I think I'm going to save it for the plane home tomorrow. sara_gd
I ordered my one from Microcosm but I haven't received a confirmation e-mail... I don't know if I did something wrong... Anyone with this problem? When I go back to the website it doesn't say that I bought something there anywhere, and I can't remember if I had to register to buy the zine... God, I'm almost 100% sure that I wrote the Visa numbers and it said that they would be sending an e-mail soon, but nothing has arrived... I'm a bit worried

I'm a bit worried I ordered with Microcosm too, but I've received a confirmation e-mail not too long after I ordered. Then, they sent me another e-mail 4 days later to say that my order have been shipped to me. Now I'm waiting....Maybe it has something to do with the jet lag (for them, I made my order at 10.30 am, but for me I think it was at 1.30 pm)....I don't know how it works, but I do know that you don't have to register to buy it (cause I didn't) and that it said they would send a confirmation e-mail. A strange thing that happens to me is that I never remember if I have registered in a site or not, and then I find out that I have a twitter, a tumblr, a flickr... and never used them Thank you for your reply
