The Trilogy Albums

I thought Drama Queen was just another title for one of the songs that is on 21st CB? I remember reading an interview in Q that had that on the tracklisting but one of the other songs wasn't there... hmm (and it wasn't Murder City because I know that was added at the eleventh hour).

As to the album being out in 2015... who says? I mean sure anyone who's good at sequences can see that it's been getting longer but these days Green Day seem to be being anything except predictable so... I wouldn't be sure!

Nah, Drama Queen is a song all on its own

But someone on here talked to Mike who said that the wait wouldn't be as long as it was for 21CB. I don't know who it was I just remember reading it.

Aska, Liz and I also spoke to Freese for a little bit in Toronto and he said it wouldn't take as long either.

Whatever. I'll be happy when it comes out, doesn't matter when that will be.

I hope it comes out soon. And the official Green Day book too. I'm looking forward to these ones.

Drama Queen was on the original tracklisting, then at the last minute they took it off and put Murder City on instead. Drama Queen was listed in all the early articles about the album, and the band and reviewers talked about it along with all the other songs. I think it's really strange that they didn't make it b-side, considering. Glad they at least played it live.

Yeah, you would think that they would have released it as a b-side since it was pulled at the last minute. If it's good enough to nearly make the album, I'd think it'd be the first choice as a b-side. Hell, Hearts Collide and Lights Out are great and I don't remember reading anything about those tracks in internet or magazine articles prior to when the album was released.

Yeah, I wish they would have released as a b-side... I loove Drama Queen

I am still hoping that they'll do something like Shenanigans in the future, with some of the left out material!

About the next album... I don't know, but as much as I love the songs they played at the sound checks "Dreamcatcher", "Oh Girl", "Stay The Night" and even "Olivia" I don't think they will be part of the track list of the album, in my mind, GD have a huge amount of songs written already, I imagine like 100 (or much more) recently written songs, and they only chose 10 - 20 of them to release. I don't think they would want to release those they have already played in front of people, and that they know are out there on youtube.

I could be completely wrong! Just sharing my thoughts :P BUT I sure hope they release those songs we've heard sometime (as b-sides maybe!)

Yeah I suppose with them writing so many songs there's s good chance we won't hear them. I like to think if they've written 100 then each one has a 10-20 out of 100 chance of being on the next album :D. But even if we don't hear those 3 songs they still make me really excited for the next album just because of the style of the songs. If their next album has songs in that style/direction I'll be very happy!

I hope no pattern that would take a new record 'til 2015. That's way too much

Besides, if it's true that HLAHG could be ready for the 10th anniversary of American Idiot, I think they should have a new record by then.

And I forgot about Olivia! I want a studio version of that one too  it's so sweet

What is happening with HLAHG... it seems to be taking FOREVER... ???

Also, I'm hoping they don't release one until at least May next year because I need some time to recover (money wise) from my round the world trip!

Last thing we heard was that it was going to be realeased for American Idiot's 10 year anniversary, but it's not confirmed or anything. It has it's own thread somewhere with more info

I still can't believe they haven't put out Drama Queen. It was ON 21st Century Breakdown up until a few weeks before it was out. And they played it live so they didn't decide they hated the song or wanna keep it a secret/save it. As it's a proper 21st CB song I guess it's unlikely it could be on the next album and too late for it now =/

Me neither. It's such a good song

That'd be awesome, but I doubt it's going to happen.

New songs coming on KCUF if that tweet was understood correctly? Maybe? Who knows...?

30 songs? I have a feeling that they rushed most of them, given the small amount of space. Or maybe its a collection of songs theyve wrote over the years. I guess we'll just have to see.

But it better not be another rock opera.

They were writing write through the 21stCB tours... So it's been about two years!

And why not another rock opera? AI and 21stCB are both great albums? I wouldn't want to see them go backwards! They're going to have to produce something pretty grandiose otherwise critics will pan it...

I don't think it necessarily has to be grandiose. I wouldn't want to see them go backwards either but they could move forward in all kinds of different ways, grandiose isn't the only option. Last time they had the pressure of following American Idiot but this time I really think they're free to go any way they want. The "fresh and hi energy" Billie tweeted about sounds like a promising start to me :D

Sorry, I suppose grandiose was the wrong word. What I meant is that they can't just put out something that people would class as "old school Green Day" because as much as people complain that they'd like to see them return to those days or Kerplunk! and so forth, I don't think they can do something like that. I mean there was that article that said it wanted BJA to start singing about masturbation again... that would just be stupid coming from the mouth of 39 year old guy who's been branded as one the political spokespeople of rock. What I meant is that it'll probably have to be quite a big spectacle or it'll alienate a lot of people who aren't as into Green Day as the people who haunt this forum....

Yeah I wouldn't expect them to go back to their old type of lyrics or repeat what they've done before, what I mean is they could do something totally new that was more simple/not a huge spectacle if they wanted. At this point in their career they wouldn't have to do something huge in order to move forward or to be taken seriously, they can do anything they feel like as long as they do it well. There'll always be fans and critics who complain and fans and critics who are happy whichever way they go, Green Day doesn't strike me as a band who's too bothered about that.

I'll hold my breath for next year, but I somewhat doubt it. The way Green Day rolls (waiting 5 years after American Idiot to release 21st CB) I'd say they'll have it out around 2015-2016. Sounds pretty reasonable. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they waited that long.

I doubt it will be 2015-2016. That's entirely too long when they have said the it won't be as long as from American Idiot to 21st Century Breakdown.

Yeah, they can't continue to wait that long between albums...they're getting old. Haha. I mean, 40 isn't old at all. But they were in their early 30's when American Idiot came out.....they'd be halfway thru their 40's if they waited that long!

Yeah I guess you guys are right. They'll probably have a follow up album to the one coming out by then. I think 2012 sounds reasonable. I mean they've got this whole year to spend time with the family and jam on songs together back at home. Would you think they could get a producer and get in the studio later this year?
