When asked when the new album will come out, he said: "The band want to announce that themselves, so since it's their album and not mine, I think I will let them!" The post suggests that they do have an album, or atleast have parts of it. I don't know, it sounds like they're actaully pretty far in the process. I may just be overthinking the post... The band likes to do fun surprising things like these shows and FBHT but surprise things don't make money. When it comes to a major album release the label is going to want to make money from it, and that means promoting it in advance so lots of people know about it and buy it. (In terms of sufficient promotional and anticipation time) Just so I can say to myself, "OK, it's January and nothing's been announced, so if they announce it tomorrow, the soonest it's likely to come out is ________ " ... is 3 months sufficient? I remember in 2008 we got those banners that said "Green Day coming 2009" and the album was still five months away. I just think that they would want to do more promotion before the album comes out. Normally singles come out like a month before the album so my expert guess would be that we will get an announcement for the album in January-early Feb. 1st single in mid march-early april and then the album out in late april-early may. I'd like to think it'll come out soon, but January sounds too soon. Maybe they meant that there will be an official announcement in January? I don't know... I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict that there'll be an announcement next Thursday, December 15. One of the Idiot cast members who blogs said that they got an e-mail from Billie Joe that said that he would be seeing them sooner than later. I think your theory has some considerable weight to it. That's awesome. I went there for the first time over the summer. It's a great city. But yes, that would be an amazing start to 2012, a year that already promises to be good for me. I know what it was like in late 2008 with the "coming 2009" stuff on their site, the AP magazine article which a lot of info about the new record and a release date in "spring", things like that. Then in early 2009 of course the GD sizzle video, more interviews in magazines like Q, the album name and release date mentioned at the Grammy's, cover art and song teasers in February as well. Secret shows, album release and then the tour.. Right now there's none of that. So whenever we get to hear more about things like that.. I can't wait!
