Brigister
Oh I don't know, I think it's just because we've gotten used to the idea. If they came up with a whole new "concept" because there are a lot to choose from, I think it could be great! I just want to get some concrete news about it! Did they play any "secret" shows before 21stCB? Meh, I don't think I will enjoy another concept album as much as I will enjoy a normal one. They didn't play any secret show before 21stCB, though. Did they play any "secret" shows before 21stCB? Not really "secret", but they did play two small shows in Oakland with very short notice a couple of weeks before the album was out. And of course the 10 show Foxboro tour they announced about 3 days before the first date in 2008. So I wouldn't say them playing secret/surprise shows tells us much about what's going on, but it's cool when they do them anyway!

Hermione
Yeah, I was just wondering whether they showcased songs before anyone really knew about 21st CB and how many of them actually ended up on the album etc... Oh I see, nah they didn't. When they played those spur of the moment shows just before the album was out no one had heard the songs yet though, and they've said the reason they did that was because they couldn't wait to test them out on a live audience. Obviously at that late point all the songs were going to be on the album, but maybe they were using it as a test run to help decide which songs to play live. Seems like this time they've done a much earlier test run to help decide which songs to put on the album too, but yeah it's the first time they've done something like that so early so we'll just have to see. Stephanie.
This may be a stupid question but IF they are recording how long do you think it will take them to finish it? any ideas?

I'd say maybe a month of recording time. Just a guess though.
Hermione
Kind of like asking how long is a piece of string. It could take a few days to bang out a quick fun album, or months or even a years of tinkering, or anything in between. Plus we have no idea if they are recording. Impossible to even hazard a guess as far as I can see.

My guess is that having totally tortured themselves bringing 21CB, and having totally enjoyed themselves with Stop, Drop and Roll, and being loose enough to get out and do new stuff at the Tiki - and, that Billie Joe would probably like to spend the big 4-0 raving it up in front of an audience - all in all, I think, soon. jamesobxfan2296
I think it's time for another Foxboro Hot Tubs style album and tour, then we can worry about the next Green Day album I'm with you here. A new Hot Tubs album and tour (although the tour would probably be in the Bay Area in California and not go anywhere else) would kinda pass the time. Also, I hope that the next Green Day album has a Foxboro Hot Tubs feel to it. Anyway, all I'm hoping for is that the album will be out before 2013. If it came out next year, that'd be great because my 16th birthday next year and as part of my birthday, I'd get to get the new album and go see a Green Day live. I'm very optimistic that that's the case, that it'll be soon. But there's a difference between that and trying to work out exactly how long it's gonna be, I just find that a bit tiresome. Bastard of 1967
I don't get it. Please explain Ocean Way Studios is located there -- for at least the past two albums (AI and 21CB) that's where the band holes up when they're ready to lay down their tracks "for real". The album was already pressed when those shows took place. The Fox Theater show was actually a big "dress rehearsal" for the tour -- it was the first that the band did with full backdrops, lights, pyro, etc., and my best guess is that they wanted to see how all of 21CB's songs played in front of a live audience so they could pick which ones they'd actually use on the tour. I agree -- awesome that they did this, but it definitely means zilch insofar as when an album release is going to happen.

Hermione
If a stand alone Foxboro album meant any possibility of a Foxboro show in the UK then I'd prefer that! But if not then either would be great.

The Disappearing Boy
Remember that for Breakdown, they went in the studio in Jan 08 and finished recording April 09. Obviously it depends on how long each song is and how many songs they wanna record, but I imagine it will be at least a year before this album comes out. I guess they went in and out though. It's not just how many songs and how long they are, it's how fast they come up with ideas, how long they work on each song, how many breaks they take etc etc. They obviously took their time with 21st CB but they could be faster this time, or slower or the same, who knows. They banged out that Foxboro album in one night so anything is possible!
