Mike Dirnt's side band, The Frustrators, will be coming out with a new EP this year

I don't think it's fair to assume that someone who wants to take a few photos of a concert is only there for one person or for the celebrity aspect. For one thing, it's freaking 2011, if you're at an event, expect someone to whip out their camera. And secondly, having been into this band since before AI doesn't make you better than those who haven't. I'm getting that feeling from people a lot lately.

Don't get my goddamn hopes up for the tubbies in LA.

But yeah i'm going for the great music, and just to have fun and see other bands. not for mike.

agree so much.

I'm a little tired of a select few people saying that fans such as myself who got into GD during or after AI don't know the side bands

but this is an old, tired argument that will probably never go away.

But yea, even the "surprise" Hot Tubs shows in New York last year didn't have that crazy of a line. It's weird- people tend to wait in line hours longer to see Green Day on a massive 15-foot stage a quarter of a mile back, but the freakin' TUBBIES spawn a modest line.

I'll never understand the Green Day fan base ethos, although it is for certain that there are a bunch of older mid/late 20s/early 30s closet fans who, understandably, don't want to deal with the crowds anymore.

Thing with the Tubbies shows was that they were announced pretty last minute. It's alot harder to plan to be AT something if you don't know exactly when it's going to happen. I'm sure if it were less last minute, alot more people would have been able to travel to see them.

I was at Don Hill's, and let's just say there were originally 5 of us who showed up the night before and waited overnight for the Don Hill's show, and more showed up later and later. It's not to say that people wouldn't or don't line up for things like the Hot Tubs, so much as more people can't due to how last minute the shows are announced, and they just... can't make it there.

In other news, I can't stop listening to Stigma.

XD

And I can't wait to be in the Bay at those shows!

Stigma lyrics (cause I can't sleep with excitement)

She's a stigma in my eyes

with pouty lips and fingertips,

she paralyses when I got something to say

I can't help it 'cuz it's always been this way

walk away from your attack

dodging bullets but she just keeps coming back

here I stand (here I stand)

here I fall (here I fall)

and I'm not listening to you - what you say?

I can't hear anymore

lightning strike me where I stand

you put me into rehab and I haven't got a plan

'cuz what you are is still a part of me

and I'm giving up on you/me(?)

so watch me stand (watch me stand)

and watch me fall (watch me fall)

don't pick me up 'cuz I can't - what you say?

I can't stand anymore

what you say?

I can't hate anymore

lightning strike me where I stand

you put my heart in rehab and I haven't got a plan

if what you want is what you get

then stay away from me

'cuz I'm giving up on you

:)

Altpress.com also has 'Stigma' streaming at the moment

Just took a listen....interesting. I can't say I like their lead vocal (sorry, I think Billie Joe has spoiled me for most other male singers), but you can really hear the impact that Mike's bass has on their sound. I like that old, growling, AI/Insomniac-sounding undertone he drops right in there.

And if we could hear that again on Green Day's next studio album it would be, well, awesome as <<<HURRRRK!!!>>> *whew* that was close.

But... Michael... They aren't Green Day. They are the Frustrators! Completely different band and style from Green Day. At least, to me.

Exactly, I wouldn't expect them to be anything but themselves (in the same way that PHGP has their own sound even though Billie does most of the vocals and Jason White backs him up on guitar). All I'm saying is I like that little slice of Green Day that Mike brings over in his bass lines -- and that I'd like to also hear more of that the next time Green Day goes into the studio.

It sounds to me...

"I'm giving up on me"

and

"I can't stand anymore"

and you'll probably go to their show

that's why we're through

just remember we broke up with you"

I love West of Texas, and part 2 didn't disappoint me at all. It's so great! But the other three songs on Griller are so, so great as well.

Ah, I wish I could see the Frustrators live.

I have it on repeat. Can't get enough of it. Griller is so great! And We Need To Talk is unique yeah. I love it. It would be the perfect song to end a show! The lyrics are funny, and combined with the great music, yeah, just great. The whole idea of being in love with your crowd, but having to break up (first), cause a show has to end eventually
