Mike Dirnt's side band, The Frustrators, will be coming out with a new EP this year

I think plenty of people are excited about the EP. But only a handful of people are able to see them live, so it's kind of bittersweet, so a lot of people just can't get that excited :( like all the musical stuff; I just don't really bother with it anymore.

which is fair enough - I totally understand.

And I don't think that the Frustrators are that well known either. I know alot of people that arent into the side-projects.

just... I dunno. I want someone to skip around with while saying 'YAAAAAAY GRILLERRRRRR' :D

YAAAAY GRILLER!! :woot:

I'm really excited now that their EP is coming out soon. Can't wait to listen to the songs!

Of course, same with the AI musical, I won't be able to go to their shows, simply because I am not allowed, I don't have that much money to go to the US, and I don't have anyone to go with.

But that doesn't mean I'm not excited about the new Frustrators record!

I'm excited about the new stuff ! That's at LEAST 10 people now.

I think maybe people haven't heard of The Frustrators if they're a fairly recent fan and for 99% people on here, it'd be pretty impossible to get to a show. Although I seem to recall there been a but more of a fuss about Pinhead Gunpowder....

People cared more about Pinhead Gunpowder because Billie Joe is a member. That's just the sad reality. Even the PHGP shows in CA weren't sold out, but I assume had more people than The Frustrators shows will. Oh well, more for me. I'd rather there be 20 people there who know every word, and not just people there to take pictures of Mike.

I think The Frustrators gigs might actually do better ticket sales-wise if other bands are on the bill. I suppose if it's just a fun thing, it doesn't really matter. Especially after their massive success in slightly outselling a harpsichord album.

hahaha, jimmy z... cracked me up with that status about the harpsichord record.

I concur.

Thought the February PHGP show was sold out, according to the sign that they put out over the door.

I will be one of those 20 people who know every word... though I have a feeling there will be more than 20 people in attendance.

These shows are going to rock. What great bands all around! Can't wait!!

Your Gilman PHGP was sold out I am sure, but Chain Reaction & Troubadour wasn't. Foxboro Hot Tubs at the Roxy didn't even sell out!

I queued 12 hours for that hot tubs gig as well!

That's why I said "that February show." The Hot Tubs didn't sell out at Don Hill's, but did at Bowery Electric. Or at least I don't think that Don Hill show sold out...

^ LOL the Foxboro show in London was like half full! I couldn't believe it.

Yeah but Billie is the lead singer and frontman of PHGP, he has more of a starring role in the band whereas Mike has more of a minor role in The Frustrators. If Mike was the lead singer there'd be more interest. Having Billie's voice and a few of his lyrics there means PHGP bears some resemblence to Green Day while The Frustrators really doesn't bear any resemblence at all. I love The Frustrators but I can see why there's less interest in them than PHGP, as well as the Billie factor there's just less Green Day-ness in them.

I'm really excited for Griller and I'm super jealous of anyone who gets to see them with the Star Fucking Hipsters. Think I'll get the clear vinyl w/ specs but I'm not sure what the deal is with international shipping on Dr Strange. I went through their checkout to see and they put down my shipping costs as $0 :ermm: Don't want to end up paying a shitload without knowing.

Isn't Billie/The Rev in NY on 27th?

Hmmm, I'd like this to be true.

But I am very skeptical. People are always tossing around rumors about FBHT.

Billie won't be done at the Musical till about 10PM, and afterward, I'd imagine he's staying for a goodbye party since it's his final show.

Between timing and energy, I can't see him flying all the way across the country to play a show.

Also; it would really push The Frustrators out of the spotlight, and I don't think any of them would want that to happen. It's their tour after all.

Same here! I wonder if they are gonna pick it up exactly where it left off. -anybody know how they got the idea for West Of Texas? Such an odd subject-

So, Billie is going to fly from NY on 2/26... fly to Los Angeles on 2/27, perform with the Hot Tubs and Frustrators on 2/27 and then fly back to NYC for the last show on 2/27? Wow. If that happens, he's gonna be tired!

Oh right, I keep forgetting that NYC is ahead of LA. Well... could happen... hmm.

IF (that's a very very very skeptical 'if') this were true, how would Billie be able to do both AI shows on the 27th, then get to LA in time to support the Frustrators? it doesn't make sense.

plus, you'd think there'd be a big cast afterparty, plus Michael Esper's goodbye, plus any FBHT show would completely detract from the headliners.

just doesnt ad up.

Don't see it. Who knows, maybe there's another show in the works where billie available, but I don't see him upstaging the frustrators either.

My girlfriend and I bought tickets online anyway...we'll be in L.A. that week and wanna see the Frussies play regardless if the Hot Tubs show up. It's Mike Dirnt playing at a 500-capacity club!! How's it not sold out yet? Plus the Frustrators rock.

I agree with Rosstar (unfortunately). Better that fans of the band show up than a bunch of Dirnt-gawkers. Sorry Mike, you're not the frontman of Green Day although you are WAY sexier than Billie. Ha ha ha.

But yea, even the "surprise" Hot Tubs shows in New York last year didn't have that crazy of a line. It's weird- people tend to wait in line hours longer to see Green Day on a massive 15-foot stage a quarter of a mile back, but the freakin' TUBBIES spawn a modest line.

I'll never understand the Green Day fan base ethos, although it is for certain that there are a bunch of older mid/late 20s/early 30s closet fans who, understandably, don't want to deal with the crowds anymore.
