St. Billie Returns To The St. James

Oh yeah, I remember Rocktober how you turned up for one of the shows and almost no one knew :D

Definitely would be special! There is still plenty of tickets left for that show.

I found a few ones that look quite good to me. booking.com actually has great deals so I think I have good chances of finding one that is good and cheap at the same time

You could try hotwire.com too. There's different packages available, like hotel/hostel+flight. This is what I've done and I've found a two-night stay in a 3-star hotel with a rountrip flight for 270$ (including taxes and fees).

People who don't have tickets at all to a particular show started hanging out about two hours before the show starts. That is also exactly the time that they start taking names for lotto (assuming they have one that day), so there are a fair number of people milling around. The barriers go up right after the ticketed people go inside, I think. Once they are up, you can presumably "claim" your spot on the barrier for when the cast comes out. You'll be waiting throughout the show (95 mins) and for at least 15 minutes after before anyone comes out.

Take a look at some of the videos people have taken at the St Billie stagedooring....it's crazy and hectic and there is not much interaction given the crowds. If all you want is a signature on your playbill, it might be worth the wait. But if your guitar teacher is hoping for an actual conversation and two-way communication, it's probably not the place. Billie Joe doesn't look people in the eye, he's just signing papers as they are thrust in front of him.

Some people have caught BJA on his way into the theater at about that 2 hour before the show time period, but that seems to be hit or miss. Good luck!

Well, not a conversation. They just wanna see him. I told him it's impossible, but he didn't believe me because I've "met" him before. I saw him going in back in October, and barely anyone noticed because they were all at the lottery! but I didn't leave early after the show because I didn't really care about seeing him (I didn't think it was worth it). but maybe if we leave during Whatsername, we can't get on the barrier, but maybe at least a few rows back. What do you think?

Because technically, the front row (and the second row) are considered partial view. It's so close to the stage that you actually missed things. Once you get to Row A and back, you don't miss things.

BTW, on Sunday, I was able to buy a Row B, center orchestra for $127 at the box office before the show. That seat usually is considered premium which I believe was $280 or something.

I have a row A premium seat, and I paid 210$ (with taxes) for it.

Thank you for the explanation. I was wondering why a ticket in row AA was cheaper since you're closer. Now it makes sense.

Aw, I wouldn't leave before the show is over! I would never leave before Good Riddance, either - that's one of my favorite parts of the show! I guess it depends on where you are seated. If you're in the back rows of any of the levels and in aisle seats and you can get out quickly and duck down to avoid blocking anyone's view, I suppose it would be less intrusive to people behind you and around you. But if you have to disrupt people to get out, forget it.

Tell them they will "see him" during the show.

I do think your chances are better at getting to the stage door barrier even after the show on a weekday show...and not the birthday performance and not the last performance. Those two are already gearing up to be fan crazy.

We can only go on a Saturday, because he works all the other days. :(

I don't mind leaving early. My favorite parts are mostly in the "first act" anyway. but they probably won't want to, because it's their first (and probably last) time seeing the show. but I mean yeah I know everyone wants to meet Billie. but it's a lot to ask out of someone. Plus, we'd probably be in the balcony, and that takes a long time to get down once the show is over.

For anyone planning on slipping out early, I understand, but move fast and try not to block other audience members when you leave!

I was sitting next to people who had never seen it before, some people in front of us made the move to get up early to get to the barrier outside. They took forever getting out and ended up in blocking the people's view for a good portion of Homecoming. I felt really bad for the people around me who hadn't seen it already and missed out. Especially because the people leaving were talking pretty loud too. I stayed the whole time (in balcony) and was only about 3 people away from the barrier. If I had tried I could have gotten and autograph, but I was more concerned with just saying thank you to him and the rest of the cast. Anyway, Just don't forget to take others around you into consideration!

I heartily applaud you for this post.

If someone had blocked me for that long of a period, I would have had some pretty unkind words to say about it. If you're planning on slipping out early, I suggest you sit back row of the balcony, back row of the mezz, or back row of the orchestra. Anything else is inconsiderate.

My mom was about to pounce on them, it was crazy. (I love my mom  ) The Idea of sitting in back would work really well as long as you aren't taking anyones seat. It might not give you the best view but if you want to get out early without disturbing anyone else, I guess it's a loss you can deal with.

I can't believe it's just over a month until I'm in NY, seeing St Billie.

Still not sunk in that I'm going

Same for me. :D I'm struggling to grasp the fact that this is legitimately happening.

Just booked my flight to NY :woot::banana::runaround: I still can't believe that I'm flying halfway around the world out of a spontaneous decision (and peer pressure :D) to see a musical! (not any musical of course) and to see NEW YORK! And to meet all these fabulous people  Someone pinch me!!

When I was walking into the theater I could here J'net behind me talking it was so strange and then when I got to the front row I said something about it to my daughter and Dorie (Tripe) was sitting next to me...she said what's your user name on GDC...it was great!

Thank you! I really hope I get to see as much as possible. I was thinking of staying a few more days longer when everyone has left NY (because that's just gonna make me want to spend time with them ) so that I could spend some time sightseeing on my own but I can't really afford a hotel on my own =/ Now I have to find accomodation for only 1 day because the other 5 or so days I will be sharing a room.

And that's a great story! Reminds me of when I first met the Idiots :D I didnt recognize any of them so I walked out of the restaurant we were supposed to meet at. And when I walked back inside I saw someone with a Foxboro Shirt (Andres) so I knew it must be them

Awwwww :D I can't wait  Seriously! I. Can't. Wait! :runaround:

Squigs Welcomes Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong to American Idiot

The rocking atmosphere at the St. James Theatre feels even more like a wild concert these days as Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong joins the cast of American Idiot for a limited engagement. Playing the malevolent drug dealer St. Jimmy, Armstrong is wailing his Grammy-winning band's songs on the Great White Way, and Broadway.com's resident artist Justin 'Squigs' Robertson headed over to the theater to catch him in action. Take a look as Squigs turns his pen on the heavily tattooed rock star alongside Idiot's leading couple John Gallagher Jr. and Rebecca Naomi Jones. Be sure to check out Armstrong for yourself in select performances through February 27!

I hate the fact that i have the money to go, it's just that i'm getting my drivers licence this year (which is hella expensive here) and staying 6 weeks in the US this summer :( and i mean, those are thing i choose to do because i really want to, but is still sucks a little cause i want to go to NY now.

I actually looked up flights and considered seriously going if i found something cheap, but of course i didn't.
