But you are from Chicago, that's not that far. I have to fly halfway across the world =/ Which is a lot more expensive :P

I should do a pro and contra list. Not that there was any contra anyway

I understand. But if you can afford it, you should go. It's not like you'd fly in for one day and out the next anyway. You'd make a small vacation out of it and visit New York City. And see St. Billie. All pros as far as I'm concerned.

Cons: Cost (but if you can afford it becomes a Pro)

Distance (can't change where you live)

What else? No other cons as far as I can see! So only 1!!!!!

You explained it quite well. +1rep for that, woulda given you more if I could. :) I think bj was just throwing in a little reminder of how wicked (and awesome!) things can be when punk rock takes over Broadway! Of course, traditional Broadway types will disagree but....<ahem>....up theirs, y'know? :whistle

Who cares what the uptight asses of the world think!!! Oh and by the way sooooo great to meet you and your beautiful wife. How was the family time?? It had to be better than the 11 hour train ride home to then freezing rain and frozen streets I had to drive on when I got home  I braved the worst roads ever to go get my baby boy....my dog!! Anyways hope we can meet up again sometime!

DOITDOITDOITCOMETOTHELASTSHOWDOITANJAYOUMUSTPLEASEDOIT!!!!!!

So do it, screw the money the memory will last a life time! I still can't believe Billie and all the amazing cast members were so close to me! Watching Billie's eyes when he saw the "Awesome as Fuck" sign that Tripe was holding and the dazzling smile that followed was priceless! DO IT.

ARE YOU BOTH GOING??

OMG! THIS IS KILLING ME!

Where are you staying, Jaymee?

Who else is going, do you know?

I assume, Tanya is staying at home :D

What date, Anja? I'm going on 1/18, 2/17, and 2/27 so far, but I'm sure I'll get something between the 18th and the 17th...

That's very true! My money is no use if I dont use it (does that even make sense?)

Anyway, I will definitely go if I can find a cheap flight!

Feb 23rd until the end of February or so. I definitely wanna go to the last show!

I'm not familiar with that booking thing. Can you actually choose the seat you want? Or just the area you want to be in?

There will be a bunch of people here at that time, it's a good time to go. And yes, you can choose the seat and area you would like to be in.

Tickets for BJ dates

Try it now.

Here is a link to hotels with discounts, but they might be expensive still.

You can ask Niki about cheap hotels in NYC and if you are friends with Naomi Lir on Facebook, she just stayed in a hostel somewhere, but I don't know the details of it.

That was something, wasn't it? :woot: John Gallagher thought it was hilarious too. So cool that Billie Joe took it; I hope he put it up in his dressing room!

Glad you had an amazing birthday!

Anja, you won't regret going! No question that accomodations are one of the most expensive parts of the NYC stay, but you might get a much better rate than those of us coming in for a weekend or a couple of days did since you are staying for a week or more. It is the downtime in NYC right now for tourism, so rates are much better than in the Spring. Good luck and have a blast. :)

Edit, different question. I don't understand why tickets labelled "Premium" tickets are more expensive than tickets in the front row? Or am I reading that wrong? Confused about that.

Because technically, the front row (and the second row) are considered partial view. It's so close to the stage that you actually missed things. Once you get to Row A and back, you don't miss things.

BTW, on Sunday, I was able to buy a Row B, center orchestra for $127 at the box office before the show. That seat usually is considered premium which I believe was $280 or something.

It's driving me crazy :pinch: I probably will end up in some shabby hostel just like in LA when I went to see HLAHG  I even left a day earlier because it sucked so much lol

Thanks Dorie! I assume you wont be there for the last show? :(

I doubt it. I'm kind of a last minute girl for the most part so you never know! It would be special to see the last St Billie show. :)

There are more than a few decent hostels in NYC. I never stayed in one, but I know a couple of people who stayed in them back in April when hotel rates were so high and said they were just fine. I think you'll have better luck with getting a non-yucky one than you did in LA.

Oh yeah, I remember Rocktober how you turned up for one of the shows and almost no one knew :D

Definitely would be special! There is still plenty of tickets left for that show.

I found a few ones that look quite good to me. booking.com actually has great deals so I think I have good chances of finding one that is good and cheap at the same time

So I'm most likely going for the GDC meetup on the last weekend in february.

my guitar teacher said he'd buy me tickets, though, so i'm gonna go another weekend as well. however, he said in order to go i have to "introduce" two of his other students to billie. does anyone know how early people start lining up at the door?

Want me to ask my parents if you can stay here? Jill's also probably gonna be staying here. PARTYYY!

Also yay Lauren!!! I really hope you make it to the meet up! :D

People who don't have tickets at all to a particular show started hanging out about two hours before the show starts. That is also exactly the time that they start taking names for lotto (assuming they have one that day), so there are a fair number of people milling around. The barriers go up right after the ticketed people go inside, I think. Once they are up, you can presumably "claim" your spot on the barrier for when the cast comes out. You'll be waiting throughout the show (95 mins) and for at least 15 minutes after before anyone comes out.

Take a look at some of the videos people have taken at the St Billie stagedooring....it's crazy and hectic and there is not much interaction given the crowds. If all you want is a signature on your playbill, it might be worth the wait. But if your guitar teacher is hoping for an actual conversation and two-way communication, it's probably not the place. Billie Joe doesn't look people in the eye, he's just signing papers as they are thrust in front of him.

Some people have caught BJA on his way into the theater at about that 2 hour before the show time period, but that seems to be hit or miss. Good luck!
