I MET BILLIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pics coming later!

That's so awesome! :woot:

We want pics and stories and everything! :D

Sadly, I don't have photos of Billie Joe but was at the matinee yesterday, my last show. It was fantastic, even if the crowd was strangely subdued until the end. Billie started off the encore with "I wanna be your dominated love slave!", then broke into Good Riddance.

Before Novocaine he said "Oh baby, baby, it's fuck time!". I was so thrilled. And we could hear the cast shout It's Fuck Time before the curtain went up.

Esper gave me his pick - with which I was absolutely delighted. And I gave Billie a good luck/thank you card, which he accepted!! Quite possibly one of the best days ever! That almost counts as meeting him, right?! - it all happened so fast, but I think words such as "thank you" were exchanged. It's all a blur.

It was great to meet Decca, Sofia and Angela (sorry if I spelt names wrong) - I had a great time. Sad to be home but excited to hear about everyone else's experiences over the next 2 months.

Haha, those first two things are great

and that's so great that Billie accepted your card!

To answer your earlier question about Will and the towel

He basically makes a show of artfully rolling up this white towel, stuffing it down his pants, dry humping his friend on the couch, then retrieves it. Hopefully, someone will have a video. It looks better/funnier than it sounds!

And thank you very much for teaching me how to do the spoiler thing, for some reason I always overlooked the other styles menu.

Thanks! Haha, that sounds funny. During what song is it?

no problem :) I never look in that menu either, but it's useful sitting there.

OMG, I was at the show last night, sitting directly in front of the couch. They made me snort a billion times with laughter.

It's during...

Yesterday was the first time I've ever seen the whole audience stay standing for all of Good Riddance. I agree with Karen, they were a little more subdued at yesterday's matinee than Saturday's, but the positive energy that was in the theatre during Good Riddance was at a level I've never seen it at before. It was something that really hit emotionally. You could tell how much the audience appreciated the cast and the show. Plus, Billie starting ff with Dominated Love Slave never hurts to lighten a mood.

And......

how was it/he? How was the stage door before and afterwards? Was he mobbed as usual? Did you get near him or anyone? Just super curious how it's going for him!

Well, I'm not one to wait around for him. I've seen him before, lol.

I was on line for both shows yesterday, tried lotto for the first one, then was able to buy a student rush ticket for the night show.

Lotto for the first show was really packed, not so much for the night show.

We were sitting by the Jujamcyn office doors waiting for the day lotto when Billie's car pulled up. There were about 20 people around the door and he signed a few autographs before heading into door. I had just put my camera away, too. lol. He wasn't as mobbed as per usual.

I have no idea what happened after the afternoon show in regards to the crowd, and I don't know if he came out of the theater between shows.

After the night show, there were people on both sides of the barrier as well as around his car, but not that many across the street this time. I didn't stick around to see him leave, so I have no idea if the crowd got thicker.

He was great, the entire show has such a different energy with him in it. He's the biggest ham on B'way and I love it, lol. At one point he has to give Johnny the drugs and he pulled them out of his pocket and flung them behind him onstage by mistake, so he had to pick them up before he gave them to Johnny, that was pretty funny. He gave Johnny a big full kiss after getting him high the first time. He sounded so beautiful with Jenna de Waal during LNOE, his voice sounded really great last night.

Don't know if sundaymorning6am posted this, but this is where she and I were sitting last night. It's video for the Good Riddance encore:

Thank you! Looking forward to hearing about your experiences at the end of the month. On the plane home I kept randomly smiling to myself like a total weirdo. Thank God most people were asleep!

BTW, I won't post video from the show except for the encore. I am one of those snobby theater people who won't sing to the songs (though I will rock out and lipsynch to myself, lol), if anyone remembers that particular argument around here, but I have no problem with footage from the encore, though I'm not sure what the official GDC policy is about that...

Bahaha! Oh god that billboard! It looks like some awful fan-art drawn by a teenage girl.

Thanks Tanya for your insights. So excited about the renewed energy to the show. To be honest, I know I'll never meet him so I'm just really excited to see him perform St Jimmy most.

Also, knowing where the biggest crowds are before and after the show, will help me avoid them when I get there!!

I really think that the door situation won't be as completely crazy as it was last time around. It will still be nuts, but just more calm. Except of course, next weekend when everyone is in town for the show and Times Talks, his birthday, and the last show. Those should just be basket cases!

Yea, I kinda wish they had done a picture of him as St. Jimmy, but they are trying to connect him to Green Day, an obvious marketing ploy, lol. He looks much hotter in his St. Jimmy looks than in that billboard, lol.

Oh, on the matinee for the 9th if Billie does that little "come on, you know the words" hand gesture in the St. Jimmy opening stanzas, that "comin' at you on the count of one, two.....", I fully intend to scream "1-2-3-4!!!" at the top of my lungs. But ONLY if Billie has flashed us that "it's OK, join in!" signal that he uses so often in concert. Last night did you get any sense for what he wants/expects from the crowd there?

There are only a few points in the show that I will actually scream out, that's one of them. I just won't sing whole songs, lol. I actually had the opportunity to speak with John Gallagher about this one night, and he said that he loves to be egged on right before St. Jimmy comes out. Before St. Jimmy came on last night, there was a lot of hand-clapping, a lot of woohoo's, etc. That moment is pretty electric when he comes on, actually.

Holiday has a few points in it, too. I always manage to scream "Amen."

And I know I annoy people with it, but during American Idiot when the cast gives a collective "fuck you," I always raise my middle finger, too, lol.

I actually think it's lovely! I don't see what's so cheesy...

That's nice. Each person has a right to their own opinion. I find it cheesy. :)

In my opinion, it makes him look like a cartoon character and it doesn't seem to fit with the other door posters. I would much rather have him look like his character in the show than his "character" as the lead singer of Green Day. Sorry, forgot to put in why I thought it was cheesy.

Yeah the people around me weren't too happy with me when I shouted AMEN. But I couldn't resist. Just had to!!!!!!!!! Otherwise I usually just head bob and just mouth all the words.

Oh, I didn't really care. In fact Dan and I just laughed when they all turned and looked my way. But as for singing, I'm really awful and never in key, so no one ever wants to hear me sing instead of those on stage!!

I have noticed both times I've seen AI, that Dan and I usually the only ones around us bouncing to the music. That I just don't get.

Well the Jan 9th show you should be surrounded by all of us freaks and we will all be happy to shout Amen!!
