Ask and you shall receive - random bullet points if that's okay

- There were about 200 people on the OTHER side of the street waiting for Billie to come out, as well as a significant number outside the theater - it was madness. Someone also knocked on the window of the car after it had pulled away. I think they got the middle finger in return.

- He's doing the funny psyching himself up shouting thing prior to coming out on stage, I'm pretty sure he included Happy New Year in it.

Lastly, it is lovely to see him smile so much, if I could go to every performance I would!! But now I must pack.

Had to quote, because those three were my favorite things from your comments on the performance. I specially love picturing the middle finger and the Happy New Year thing, it makes me laugh to just think about it

On the Good Riddance video, even if one can't see it too clearly, I love it how you can just tell that Billie was full on smiling, and it shows through how happy he was feeling...maybe even surprised with the response from the audience.

Thanks Karen. This makes me even more excited for 1/29 than I already am. (As if that's possible?)

Hope the rest of your trip goes as well as today was!

Oh, and when you say Adrienne and the boys in Times Square, did you follow them by chance??!!!!!!

Thanks! I need to make a plan for tomorrow. Flight is at 9pm, last chance to meet Billie, which I would really love.

They were waiting around outside the Levis store - I left once they started moving and exercising some rational thought, did not follow them!

- Billie is saying the line "we don't need no stinking badges" (or whatever it is exactly) before Novacaine. I had hoped to hear "Oh baby, baby, it's fuck time", but I guess that's for special occasions.

- The reaction to the song St Jimmy is awesome, the show pauses for a few minutes so that we can all regain our composure!

- Esper owns the couch, that thing he does with the towel is hilarious.

- St Jimmy is so tuneful that at times I had to remind myself it was Billie singing.

- The ushers spend the entire time before the show barking at people to put away their cameras, which is fair enough.

- The family was there again, but this time left with Billie. He signed some autographs on the way out.

- He's doing the funny psyching himself up shouting thing prior to coming out on stage, I'm pretty sure he included Happy New Year in it.

- Lest you think I am ignoring the rest of the cast, they were absolutely superb at both shows. Today was my first time seeing Stark and Theo as they were out on my first visit. They were great, all the girls are wonderful, I love Rebecca.

- Billie did a cute thing with a rose he was given at the very end of the show, tucking it behind his ear. He was last to leave the stage, showing off.

- I love how his performance includes some classic recognisable Billie moves - looking nutty, finger through hole, zany eyes etc. I described those badly but if you see it you will understand.

Lastly, it is lovely to see him smile so much, if I could go to every performance I would!! But now I must pack.

Aww, all of that sounds amazing! Happy New Year?

Thanks for sharing all of that. It makes me feel better about not going, because Billie sounds like he's having such a great time, and, well, his enthusiasm is so contagious, even when you're not there. If Billie's having fun, how can you not?

I would probably have reacted as you did, but I'm pretty sure I would have considered it (following them) for a second or two!

Do you know which door Billie came out of after the 8pm show? I know he came out of the glass door after the 2pm show. Also did they put up barriers like they did last time?

He came out the main door that the cast usually come out of - not the same as 2pm. Yes - there were barriers. I was so far back, but took this crappy pic in the reflection of the theater ceiling. You can just about make out Billie. Hope you find it informative.

Also, because I couldn't resist, this is part of the crowd across the street, FYI - aviod Phantom for the next 2 months!!

Hey Karen, It was nice meeting you in person ! I was next to you in 105 for the 2PM show so did you lotto for the next one? That's fabulous if you did! Love your review. I'm still in shock from the first 2PM performance and just got back to Boston. Love

I kind of felt guilty about bringing roses for the 2pm show and it was a spur of the moment decision. I mean how often are you gonna have the opportunity to hand someone you so admire a token of appreciation. I like how he crushed the roses and threw petals back into the audience. Have a blast at the Sunday show!

Yes thank you very much :). One more question for you though. Were there barriers put up after the 2pm show also? Sorry if I'm asking you to many questions it's just that I'm going to tomorrow and I want to be prepared.

Thanks - it was great meeting you too. I was so glad to have someone to share my enthusiasm with. I was beside some unappreciative weirdos this evening. You were absolutely right to bring something for Billie - after all, he gives so much to us. I held on to the rose petals he threw until about half an hour ago - I was like come on - you're not actually going to keep these. Thanks for handing me that pink paper during the show "love happened here on may 5th" - thrilled to have it.

Sorry for my dumb question.

I'm going to Nyc in mid February (12.02 - 16.02) and wanna make sure to catch at least one performance of Billie Joe.

Any good advices for the seat choice in st James?

I have absolutely no idea which kind of seat i might pick that offers a great view, Not too expensive...

Thx in Advance

I recommend front row of the mezzanine.

Okay, so the 8pm barrier was a straight path from the door to the car. The 2pm barrier was different, it was what I think is the usual one that creates space in front of the door. Billie didn't sign autographs at 2pm today, as far as I know, he made a dash to the car from the other exit, thus no need for the serious barriers.

Oh so maybe we should go later and hang out during the 8pm show tomorrow then. Thanks for the info.

I only felt bad about the roses because I think it bummed out the mom and daughter next to me. I said the more flowers the better for Billie since he does so much for us and just felt like given the chance to buy such tickets I wanted to say "thanks" to him. I don't know how anybody could be unappreciative in those seats. It was so close I was shaking really when Billie came on and for the whole time he was there and especially when handing him the roses. Your recap is spot on. Billie somehow seems bigger in concert. He said some hilarious stuff before he came out like "shut the fuck up" to John Gallagher, Jr.

I had one of those pink 'love happened" papers from another show so no prob. I too am realizing that rose petals don't travel well.

Enjoy tomorrow in 105!

Still, it's not surprising you weren't the only one and he graciously took them all. I was practically shaking when he was so close too!

Was lucky enough to attend the 2pm show via student rush (b/c...the box office didn't get the memo or something that it was supposed to end Dec. 30. or they extended it) and it was amazing! Got last row center orchestra seats, which I'd rather have than the partial views on the side.) Not as crazy as the shows last time; this audience seemed to be on their best behavior (aka after Know Your Enemy people actually didn't freak out and there was actually the silence into 21 Guns. A+ people.), but still ridiculously appreciative, of course. People freaked out before and during St. Jimmy, but then it's appropriate, imo. I think people have pretty much summed up the major things that happened, so some bullet points about the random things I noticed:

~the ushers totally were extra-attentive during Death of St. Jimmy, some coming down the aisle a bit when Billie takes his shirt off, to spot photographers, I guess. lol.

~it amused me highly to get Billie's understudy slip in the playbill. "The role of St. Jimmy, usually played by Tony Vincent, will be played by Billie Joe Armstrong" lulz

~He conveniently comes first alphabetically on the cast board. He now has two name sliders.

~They also announced him in the pre-show announcement. I like how they went from not showing he was in the show at all until the announcement back in the fall, to posting him on the board, putting the u/s slip in (and I'm assuming will be in the playbill once they get the January ones), AND making the pre-show announcement. (I'M WEIRD, I NOTICE AND REMEMBER THESE THINGS)

~He probably shouldn't have tried to sneak out of the Jujamcyn office doors without security. I was watching from across the street and saw him just get mobbed when people realized. Another note to him, if you're trying to sneak out, don't stop when people start calling your name. o.O Fortunately someone (stagedoor guy? one of the actors he was leaving with?) managed to get him to the waiting taxi.

~And he totally managed to get back into the theater without most people noticing, even with the fact he was coming out of an Escalade. (Which was late in picking him up, which I think is why he had to sneak into a taxi). A couple who DID notice him coming back in kept going "OMG HE'S SO LITTLE". lol

~An usher I know who works at the theater said Billie was running around the theater before the show in his pajamas. No, I did not ask why he was in his pajamas. They are apparently red, though.

~Joan Marcus, the theater photographer, was definitely taking pics of the stagedoor crowd after the show; I'm hoping this means we'll get professional production shots.

~In general, the sound mix seemed to be a little more muted than normal, but most people didn't seem to notice. I just didn't feel like I was getting blasted like I normally do, even when I'm in standing room. Oh well.

~Despite that, everyone was fantastic and awesome and I can't wait to go again. lol. Billie sounded soooooo good. And I'm pretty sure there will be ~something to listen to. ;)

Everyone getting to see St. Billie have an awesome time! Best of luck to those trying lotto. lol.

-

- Haha, that's great

- I think it's awesome who those are indeed not the best descriptions, yet most people in this thread will know exactly what you're talking about

thanks for all the stories etc! :D

omg he's so little

and pictures. I want pictures of that. Or a video. That's just great

Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who's posting stories, photos, videos, or just little tidbits about the show. It's the closest I'll probably ever get to the show and it's very much appreciated :)

(my parents have already dropped a hint that they're getting really sick of my Green Day thing and that they don't want me to go to foreign countries for anything, so I'm going to have to put up one hell of a fight if I ever want to see it even if it does go to London)

One thing though about Good Riddance... I love it how Billie does the whole first verse and stuff, but I think I'd rather see it going back to how it's originally, so the other cast members that don't do leads have their moment as well, instead of Billie taking that over.

Sorry - I'm not very advanced, don't know how to ues the spoiler thing - will do it later if I can look it up. (It's probably embarrassingly obvious!)

It doesn't seem like it now but if the show ever comes to London, you'll be old enough to go without your parents. Same with the next touring cycle. Best advice, start saving!
