pasalaska
Whoa, quite a few peeps seemed interested in your reply, Aska! I'm glad I asked you, even though I felt a little intrusive doing so. SO ANYWAY. Just wanted to say that your life and your Mum are both awesome, and, while I'm quite jealous you have the chance to do stuff like this, I'm really happy for you that you do. ^^ aw, thanks Mallory You're not being intrusive, don't worry. I know a lot of people have been curious about all that, so it gives me a chance to clear up a few things (like how I'm not rich. at all.) It's really good to hear such positive feedback from people, because I did experience a bit of nastiness from some people during my travels, and while it didn't detract from the touring experince at all, it was a bit frustrating that people percieved me as some spoilt, self-centred, attention-seeking foreigner. And I'm sorry to hear about your parents' over-protectiveness. I've always maintained (and I'm sure you do to) that if you shelter your kids too much you're not letting them experience what the world is really like. You can also live a little when you are in your 40s and have three kids! There are challenges to it at any age or any time in your life. When you are younger, it's a often a conflict with schooling and (lack of) money. Later, it might be time off work when you're trying to move up the ladder in your career. And even later, it might be spouse and committment to parenting. Sigh. Almost always a delicate balancing act! Sounds like you have your head on straight about things, Aska. And it's great that your mom is so supportive. aha, I know it's not just in retirement I just meant there's that period of landing your first proper job and really getting into the workforce that would make touring a lot harder to do. It really is a balancing act, though, and I really really admire the people that juggle kids, jobs and touring. I have it easy in that sense. I'm glad that people aren't saying I'm a complete nutter with warped priorities. It does actually mean a lot to me.
TAG
wow, no. I have a low-to-average paying part-time job in a coffee shop (Gloria Jeans which is like Starbucks). I just don't have a life so I don't spend any money. I'm motivated enough to control myself, and not buy things I really don't need. I funded my trips to Europe and the US from a years worth of savings I worked for in my gap year, and my 'normal' life has pretty much taken a backseat since the Europe tour. My mum encourages me to go. She wanted me to go and do Europe and America - she said that she never got the oppertunity when she was my age, so she wants me to live and experience what she couldnt. With this though, she's not as happy, because it means yet another semester of not doing uni...or anything apart from work. I've done 1 semester of university since finishing high school in Dec 2008. But I say fuck it. I don't know what I want to study, and I can go to uni any time. don't wanna make a plan for a day far away... In the end, she respects the fact that I'm legally an adult and I'm free to do what I like, and she knows that this makes me happier than anything else in the world. I don't get the parents who wont let their adult kids come and see this. If you don't live a little now, then when? once you retire? hell.no. I always wondered what kind of job everyone had that they saved up so much money to go everywhere! And I love encouraging parents! I never been anywhere out of the U.S [well except Canada once for like a few hours] but the Green Day show at Shoreline this year was the furthest that I have seen GD... I usually would stay on the East Coast. I'm glad that tons of people get to travel all over the world to see them, and other bands too, it must be a great experience! Also, to most of the people coming to NYC in Jan.-Feb., that haven't seen the musical before, you are going to absolutely love it! Try and stay for a few days so you can explore NYC too
Jaymee!!
This will be the last big trip that I'll be doing for a couple years (excluding the meet up during the summer), so I would really like to make it worthwhile and amazing I'm really going to hate saying goodbye to everyone again
Isabel
I just feel so lucky to have the opportunity to experience all of this and to be able to see my favourite bands in practically a different city each time I go to a show. And now being able to go to NYC for the musical is just so amazing, I can't be thankful enough for it. (lets hope the snow will just fod somewhere between now and then)

Isabel
I want snow! It's boiling here! Trust me, you wouldn't want it if it could possibly sabotage your journey to NYC! That's what I'm worried about, Dublin airport closes so easily if there's heavy snow, really hoping it won't come back in Jan

pols4tre
^^^^ I love encouraging parents. My family all know how much I love Green Day and how far I'm willing to go to see them, but they also don't really understand why I do it (if that makes any kind of sense? lol). Whenever I go to a show or any other Green Day related thing, I get "Oh for GOD'S SAKE. Green Day, AGAIN?!" So, when I finally told them all that I was going back to NYC for this I had to stand and take it ten fold, because it's such a long way away and I've already done it once before. It's not like my parents can stop me (I'm nearly 22!) or anything. It's just annoying to have to tell them, because I get laughed at! XD My friends are the same. One of them practically shouted at me for it, because she despises Green Day. It annoys me really; I get a lot of shit for being a Green Day fan and the people who give it don't understand how happy doing this kind of thing makes me feel. At least I have you fellow obsessives to keep me sane!! Anyway! I'm so excited for February. Literally, can not wait!! I'm there for a week this time, so I'll get more of a chance to do touristy things as well as stalk Billie Joe And I'm staying at the Hotel St James! Woooop! TAG
Does Billie usually come out after/before the show? If he does, how long does it take until he comes? After and sometimes its close to 40mins to an hour [sometimes longer] wait...but sometimes he can be quick, but they usually have to wait for the musical attendees to leave the theatre first
