I don't think anyone here is asking for people to be unreasonable in what they do. I was just getting defensive over the blanket "do not sing" comments.

Sorry, I was getting defensive at the "I can sing if I darn well please because theater people are a bunch of babies" comments. :)

It's all good.

I don't know if someone mentioned this already, because it won't let me go back pages.... do you think they would put Billie in the playbill since Tony won't be there anymore?

Well, they pulled Chase out and Sean Wing in the Playbill when Sean was temporary on for Chase. I believe that that was for a month or two (that Sean was in the Playbill not Sean was in the show; he was there much longer...) And I don't know how long it was after Joshua Henry left that Wallace was finally put in the Playbill... Anyways, I feel like they will put Billie in. They don't really have a regular St. Jimmy besides him during that time. They might still be using the December Playbills at the beginning of January so they might just have a slip or something, but I feel he'll definitely will be in the January and February Playbills.

It's quite possibly that thing that you say. I saw few videos of him the last time that he did as St. Jimmy, and he is better than the other guy. This show us that AI is an history of himself. He is St. Jimmy, thats why he is so good on this.

Billie has always said in interviews that AI is very autobiographical for him. He's JoS and St. Jimmy all wrapped up into one person, the "son of Rage and Love" -- such a huge theme in the album. But since not even Billie can clone himself on stage, he has to pick just one character to portray....and methinks he picked well. :)

I feel he'll definitely will be in the January and February Playbills.

Note to self: Frame mine when I get home. :)

haha yeah.. I mean if he is going to be doing 50 shows, I feel like he should at least be in the playbills....even if it is not so soon...but who knows, they might be in the process of having them made now so they have them for Jan/Feb

Lucky for me I don't think I'll be tempted to sing - at the concerts when Billie Joe came to the end of the catwalk, I pretty much gaped in awe. Singing was quite beyond me!

A point re Billie and Rage&Love - we got Love during the US tour and his first week as St Jimmy and Rage during the South American tour. Hopefully, love will return for this.

I hope he does take part in singing Good Riddance, or at least do something at the end. Yes, it is nice to spotlight the other actors - but many people are coming to see a star.

My searching for that interview has somehow led me to "High class NY Escorts". I guess, you know, just in case I need a date for the night.

Not sure if we would consider us 'high class' (lmao!) but I spoke with Bren, and he said to stop searching. He'll do it for half. Have your people call my people.

I think this is a case of two very different worlds colliding. One side that is very traditional, and another that's the exact opposite. AI is both, so it should be a mix, I think. As with anything, respect is the key. I have to admit that I have a hard time NOT singing along with the songs at the musical. It's kinda like second nature to me, and it just - happens. I am not disrespectful (at least I don't think I am) to others, but I definitely tap my foot, sing along, and mouth most of the words.

and Andres, I don't remember when, but I do remember an interview where JG said something like he wished he could command an audience like Biliie Joe does. If I remember correctly, he also mentioned Holiday and said he'd love to have the audience raise their fists to 'Can I get another Amen?' 'AMEN!'

January 9 for us. We were planning to come up for the panel interview and got tickets for the matinee the same day. :D

Wow, lucky! I would love to go for the panel interview, but don't think I could make it there so soon! I originally really wanted to go on the 9th, but I guess I should be happy Im going at all lol

There's a big difference in the audience shouting AMEN and just singing along to the songs. Most people are bad singers, and THAT would really be annoying and take me out of the moment.

I have to agree with that, nothing worse then someone singing stupidly loud and out of tune... to a song like last night on earth or when it's time! At a concert fair enough....

What are on average the prices in the cheapest hotels/motels/whatever other cheap and safe accommodation in NY? I'm going to drive myself completely crazy not knowing whether I could have gone money-wise or not

Although I just realized that even if I had enough money and my parents allowed me, I would still need someone to go with because there's no way I'd be allowed to go alone. And I am pretty sure no one I know will want to go to NY for a couple of days for a musical...

:whistle

I would never sing because I am a terrible singer and no one sat near me deserves that!

Remember also that the actors (especially BJ!) will often give the audience a cue if they want you to join in or not. I can SO see Billie showing us that little "come here, come here, come here!!!" hand-gesture thing he does right as he's singing "Comin' at you on the count of one, two....." and letting the crowd do the "1-2-3-4" callback! :)

I can totally see both sides of the "singing along" argument since it's an odd/interesting mix having pop-punk rock put on Broadway. I so had to restrain myself not to sing along when I went in September, but I did mumble very softly to myself and got away with it. I typically would say fuck it & sing along if you want (as long as you don't have a horrible voice or scream), but seeing a musical is different than being at a concert.

But when it comes to Billie as St Jimmy.. I think Billie would be WTF if we all sat still in our seats without emotion or lip-moving while he's there. You know him being all Billie and everything, hah.

One of the last times I saw the show I was sitting in the mezz with Beth- Billie Joe was sitting about 10 seats from us. I think he found it hard not to sing along himself lol.

And yeah I guess it was distracting :D

I'd probably allow it from Billie (though, what would draw your attention more - the cast or Billie singing near you?). But he'll be on stage, so there is no one in the audience who should be singing along. LOL

If Billie was sitting near me and he began to sing, the musical would cease to exist and all my focus would be right on Billie lol

Really excited about this. I was devastated to miss out last time round. I think this will be quite different with such a long run and the advance announcement. Less hysteria perhaps, but i'm so glad there is another opportunity to see St. Billie.

Looking at going in Feb with peeps from here.

The debate about theatre etiquette is interesting, i can see Billie Joe taking a more and more commanding role over the 50 show run and encourage more crowd participation by playing the role. It's great how the punk rock nature comes through to challenge the 'etiquette' and i think it would be encouraged by most of the cast as well.

Fuck Germany!

If I went it would be very hard for me to not sing along to my fav songs of all time I have to say. I even couldn't sit quiet when I watched the MTV World Stage Performance in the cinema and in the musical there's Billie Joe personal so I really couldn't hold me back and just sit there quiet. Just wanted to say that. =/

And sorry but fuck the proper theatre etiquette. Nothing against you but we're Green Day fans, we just have to make shit in my opinion. It's just the way I am. :P

Green Day would give their music to a director and a composer and a cast if they didn't give a shit about the outcome of the show and theatre. Basically by disrespecting the theatre community you are making yourself (or whomever it is) look stupid AND you are disrespecting Green Day's work. If I were Billie I would be embarrassed at the way people acted the last time he was on stage.

People that pay this much to see a show (regardless of their age or what music they are fans of) should be able to enjoy the show and not have to put up with other audience members being obnoxious. Speaking as someone who loves both Green Day and theatre, I would ask they those in attendance behave accordingly.

This is what makes me hate theater people so much. Seriously, no one here should be trying to lecture anyone on what appropriate behavior is. Especially doing so in a way that makes you all sound like a group of bitchy old teachers.

I seriously doubt anyone here is planning on doing anything that would get them kicked out of the show. And I've said multiple times that I wasn't telling people to be disruptive, but telling them not to sing at all is just ... ugh.

Andres, I would've gone to the show and paid a ticket to hear the ACTORS sing, not the fans. I don't care what people do but have respect. Quietly hum to yourself but c'mon!

As i said before, I pay to go see Green Day play but I don't get all fucked up about it when people around me sing. Green Day is far more important to me than actors, so if anything, that would be the situation when I'd be upset about it but really...you can see why that'd be silly.

Also as I said before, when I went to see the show before and there were some people singing along, it didn't bother me one bit. I could still hear the actors just fine, I was still able to enjoy it. No one was being obnoxious, and I don't think thats what I'm advocating for.
