St. Billie Returns To The St. James

It really would be amazing if Billie did go back to play St. Jimmy again. It'd kind of figure too because there won't be a St. Jimmy for that month. I don't know if we could afford it but we'd have to try!

Read every word. Thank you for your thoughts. It was fun to live through your experience and made me remember mine. The salute goes to you.

That's cool, I'm glad it made you remember your experience  thank you for reading it!

Read the whole thing, thank you so much for sharing! I am so, so happy you loved the show so much and had such an awesome time.

TBH I came at American Idiot from the theatre fan side, not the Green Day fan side. And the show made me fall head over heels for Billie and the music and everything. So it's always kind of awesome to see Green Day fans do the reverse and fall in love with the musical and enjoy it so much. /sap

Thank you  that's awesome that you got into Green Day from the theatre side! I don't think I'd met someone who got into them that way before, so that's really cool, haha!

Anyway, here's my big long recap! I'm putting it in a spoiler so people who aren't interested can just skip it. There's probably a few bits about the trip in general that might seem irrelevant, but I've put them in because they add to the shows. It's massive and I feel a little bit silly posting something so long but I hope it isn't too boring.

Are you kidding?! That is definitely not "boring!" Hearing all these stories is what keeps this thread (and me :P) going! Your trip sounds so amazing I don't even know how to say it... Thank you so much for sharing that, and it's so cool how you got to meet Michael! And won lottery and got autographs!! And LOL at the Walgreens, I went in there to get a water haha  Reading it made me think of when I was there too on 2/20, and the day after seeing the show I had to go back home to CA. My fam and I went to see the theatre one last time like you did and yeah I got that same depressed feeling..definitely not as emotional as yours since you were there for their final performance, but leaving NYC and the St. James is like ripping a piece of your heart out and leaving it out in the cold. Erm sorry, revisiting memories of that weekend just now...*sigh*

I've never met anyone like that either (theatre --> Green Day) haha so yeah that really is pretty awesome!! :D

That's how it happened for me too. I was aware of Green Day but came, as you say, from the theatre side as well :)

2/23/11 so fucking awesome! rocking music, awesome visuals, and everyone had such nice voices! plus it was the first time i'd ever heard billie sing live, so that just made the night (i seriously need to go to a green day concert though! anyone know when their next tour might possibly be??). it was so crazy afterwards though because tons of people were lining up afterwards waiting to see billie and get his autograph. but seriously it was a great show!

That's awesome, I was a bit nervous about posting something so long and emotional so I'm really glad people have enjoyed reading it

Haha there were quite a few GD fans in Walgreens! When our friend came up to NY we went to the Hard Rock Cafe, then once he'd gone we were back at Walgreens again

I know exactly what you mean about the depressed feeling, that describes it perfectly  I'm sure it was just as emotional for anybody having to leave the St. James after any of those awesome performances :(

Yeah kudos to posting it! I feel the same way about mine, and every time I try to write a review it all comes out in jumbles and sounds incoherent haha! So I've never posted a full one :P:ninja:

And yeah :( it's amazing how meaningful that theatre can be, especially after the past few months. <3 And now I will never think of Walgreens the same way :lol:

A few other things... I met someone in NY who said she'd seen the musical something like 30 times and they'd told her Billie's coming back in April. I don't know how true that is, it's probably crap but I thought I'd share it.

So finally, I've just got a few video/audio requests that I should probably post this in the video/audio requests forum, but I thought I'd try here first. I'm looking for videos/audio of Last Night on Earth from any of the shows from the 23rd-27th but particulary the 27th (it was just so fucking good), and a video of 21 Guns from the afternoon of the 26th. If anyone could share these with me I'd be incredibly grateful! :D

You can probably get audio, but not video. Video from Good Riddance is acceptable but the rest of the show, it's a no-no.

This thread will be kinda dead now that billie's gone. :(

omg my favorite part of the 27th evening performance was right in the beginning when Johnny first introduces Will and the entire audience was cheering for like 2 minutes straight and they were both sitting there trying so hard not to laugh. I was dying.

There were many moments of applause... between When It's Time & Know Your Enemy was probably the strangest timed one since Johnny is supposed to be interrupted by Jimmy. Poor Gallagher was going back & forth reaching to Becca, waiting for Billie/the applause to die down a little.

My favorite was Billie not wanting to hand over the drugs and Johnny slow reach up.

I was at the last performance, sitting 2 rows behind adrienne and joey! halfway through the show, joey fell asleep on his mom's shoulder

the show was, as many people have already said, INCREDIBLE. I loved all the little impromptu bits, particularly the hey-ohs and the dildo... but it was definitely emotional. Stark, John, and Michael were all crying by the end of WMUWSE and michael didn't really stop crying for the rest of the show. john got really choked up from the beginning of whatsername, and everyone in the audience quickly realized and started applauding and cheering him on  and his last lines were heartbreakingly poignant, but strangely comforting at the same time: "is this the end, or only the beginning?" billie was definitely teary in good riddance and the whole encore was so sweet. john did some sort of stage dive/tumble thing and I'm pretty sure no one really caught him  but after he was back up on stage he came back to make sure everyone was ok. and michael gave a tearful "I love you!!" shout-out to his mom who was also a couple rows away from me

I also loved seeing all the appreciation for michael and john. billie obviously got a lot of cheers and love but he didn't steal their spotlight at all... the 3-minute cheering session for Michael was hilarious and so sweet.

all in all, the love and good energy in the theatre was palpable, and it left me with such a happy and warm feeling even though the night was bittersweet. I feel so fucking grateful that I got to see the show at all, especially on this special night. I'm looking forward to seeing how davey, justin, and van hughes will fill the roles, but I will NEVER forget John, Michael, and Billie's amazing performance.

Very cool, you theater people coming over to the Green side.

Ikr, and now I'm posting on this forum. lol

TBH, it was mostly Billie and the band's ridiculous dedication to the show and cast and creative team that won me over. I don't think I've ever heard of celebrities involved with a show to be SO involved. From taking the cast to the Grammys to producing the cast album to flying in for the Tonys to Billie showing up to Declan's gig to Billie actually being IN the show...just the level of dedication and respect of all parties involved blows my mind.

I enjoyed reading it too . I love reading proper long recaps, I used to wonder why everyone didn't write one when they went to Green Day things. Then after I went to my first Green Day show I realized you actually need some writing skill to do it and I was incapable of it . So thanks! So glad you had such an amazing time.

I was one of those cheering, haha! I like when Michael eventually raised his hand and waved with an awkward smile

Yeah I didn't expect the applause after When It's Time, but it was sweet. Haha that was one of my favorite parts too! Billie kept it out of reach, lmao. Johnny had to work for the drugs

Loved all of that ^^ By the way, it was Jakob that fell asleep on Adrienne's shoulder, lol, not Joey. I was sitting in the same row as Joey and his friend. Adrienne and Jakob were about 4 rows in front of me. Lmao the dildo part was hilarious. They had a little too much fun with that, hahaha. LOL! Yeah John jumped right on top of us and fell down right beside me. I pulled him up and said, "JOHN! Are you okay?!" He laughed and ran back up on stage and then later came over and asked if we were okay, hahaha. Your recap was very nicely said

hey, my recap is now on facebook! I know you said you don't have one but here is the link anyways, sometimes it works without having to have one AI recap Feb. 15-17

[if it doesn't work, I will P.M it to you!]

I will also be doing a recap for Feb. 22-27 as well

Unfortunately, it doesn't work for me. But if you P.M. it to me, you'll be forever in my book of honor!

Just one question: Why don't you put your recap on here?

Just one question: Why don't you put your recap on here?

I just figured out how to post a 'spoiler' so my recap doesn't take up an entire page LOL so yea...

Feb 15:

I went to the city to meet up with Chris, her husband, and Mary. Mary and I had reserved lotto seats. Chris has never met Billie before in her 18 years of loving the band, so I wanted to help her out. We got to the theater at 5pm and hung around the door. Billie ended up walking to the theater with Adrienne. I stopped him, since it was only us 4 over there, to take a picture with Chris, which he did. Then she pulled her hat off and said "thank you for the past 18 years" [if you don't know Chris, she has an hair disorder called Alopecia] he rubbed her head then kissed her. I then after that asked for a photo LOL... we were ALL so happy for Chris! We all cried and teared up since it was so exciting for her. After the show, we all barricaded. I showed Billie the 'rage n love' tattoo that he wrote out for me. He signed my playbill, ticket, and my arm LOL it was hilarious!

video of chris ]

Feb 16:

I totally forgot what happened this day except that Mary and I had reserved lotto AGAIN, and that we both got pictures with Billie as he walked into the theater. I also dragged Katrinas wrist to get signed by Billie! OH and that we ran into Davey Havok in Times Square and took pics with him and talked to him for a bit LMAO

Feb 17: BILLIE'S BIRTHDAY EXTRAVAGANZA!

I met up with Fallyn, Mary, Lily, Victoria,Rosie, Jade, Mikayla, Katrina, Sinead, Amy, etcetc [sorry if I forgot you SOMANYPEOPLEWERETHERE].... we waited by the barricades for Billie to arrive. He gets out of the car, and we all sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY to him! IT WAS HILARIOUS! Rosie gave him a book that she made called 'I WAS THERE'...then he fucking walked up to me, I asked for a picture and I was the only one he really stopped for and my camera didn't go off lmao oh well..... so I took a bag of goodies people had for his birthday, and cookies Dawn R. made for his birthday, inside the theater with me. Victoria previously spoke to Adrienne about possibly getting backstage after the show with this amazing card she made Billie to give to him personally. While inside, we saw Adrienne. She told us we could BOTH come backstage! Victoria cried hysterically with joy and we both kept hugging Adrienne. She saw Dawn R's cookies and thought they were amazing.

During the shows encore, we all sang Billie 'Happy Birthday'.

Victoria, her Dad, and I after the show waited in the backdoor area with Adrienne and Davey Havok. We had fun conversations. They both saw my tattoos, and Adrienne was like OMG ARE THOSE REAL?!? ::feels over them with hand::' and Davey giggled and was like 'heh she's legit!'. Adrienne was also looking for Billies mother. She finally took us backstage! I first saw Davey back there [because he ran back there before we did] and John Gallagher. John was like 'HEY!' and gave me a hugeee hug and was like 'thank you for coming to the show tonight!'

We then walked a bit further and we were underneath Billies dressing room! Adrienne was like 'Billie will be down in a few! See, there's his room!' and we could see him up there getting all ready lmao

Then Adrienne had to run to find Billies mother, and left us with the blonde chick. Billie finally comes down, Victoria and I were like O.O

She gave him the card and read it, he thought it was so cute. He kept smiling!

I then showed him the cookies Dawn made him.....lmao...the one cookie said 'vintage 72' he goes 'VINTAGE?! AM I REALLY THAT OLD?!' laughing lmao

I was like 'OMG NO!! you are not old at all!' Then we took some pictures and stuff. I then went to say goodbye and he hugged and kissed me on the cheek thanking me for all the support! I was going to die. Then the lady escorted us out of the backdoor. I hugged Victoria since she was crying! It was adorable. I still cannot believe I was back there ON HIS BIRTHDAY OF ALL DAYS!

[P.S if I forgot to write about anything PLEASE LET ME KNOW]

Another bit that made me smile was at the end of BOBD there was a massive round of applause and there usually isn't because it's supposed to go straight into Favorite Son, but at the last show there was and Wallace was just stood there grinning awkwardly and waiting to jump down, lol. And John just had to tap his guitar to set everybody off clapping  Billie's tiara will always be a favourite!

Yeah kudos to posting it! I feel the same way about mine, and every time I try to write a review it all comes out in jumbles and sounds incoherent haha! So I've never posted a full one :P:ninja:

Haha, that always happens when I go to concerts! I just end up posting little bits and then by the time I get myself set to write the whole thing, it's so blurry because it was so long ago. :P

Walgreens will always have a special place in my heart as our most visited shop in the USA  next time I go over there (hopefully there will definitely be a next time!), I'm getting a photo of us in front of a Walgreens sign :D
