Songs that grew on you

Little Girl Little One

Recommended Posts

I always liked Geek Stink Breath but not a whole lot, but its really grew on me and now its one of my favorite songs.

21st Century Breakdown, hated this the first time I heard, the chorus I still don't like a whole lot but the verses and little bit in the middle about "hi my name is no one I'm your long lost son" have grown heaps on me.

Whatsername always sounded really boring but once i listened to all the way through and i like it now.

Waiting as well

All Green Day songs have grown on me on the first listen except for Nightlife,Drama Queen, Warning and Longview(the beauty of longview is when it did grow on me, I would listen to it all the time. While taking a shit, mastrubating, watching the television etc.And for like a year or so.It's the best Green Day song according to me.Only Green Day can make it.)

The song that grew the fastest on me was TAKE BACK.Wow, I like the way Billie says Take Back, like a 70s punk star or something

Ashley. The first few listens, I didn't even like it that much, but now it's my favorite song. Not even just by Green Day, it's my favorite song ever, at least right now.

Redundant is the only i can think of right now. I despised that song for years!! But now it's one of my faves. For a lot of artists i only like 1 or 2 albums but with green day i really don't dislike any song but thats probably cuz im so biased when it comes to them.

wow, this is exactly the thread I was looking for. On Tre there were a few songs like this. On first getting it, I usually skipped 8th Avenue Serenade, Drama Queen, Sex, Drugs, and Violence, A little boy named train and Amanda. and then 8th avenue grew on me. then sex drugs and violence. At the moment Drama Queen and a little boy named train are still my least favorite, but I'm not skipping them at all anymore. My favorites are Walk Away, Brutal Love, X-Kid and Dirty Rotten Bastards.

Always used to skip "Panic Song" whenever I listened to Insomniac because I thought the CD was scratched (true story). I decided to let it play all the way through to see what it sounded like, I was surprised to find that there actually was a song a the end of it xD

American Idiot has just grown and grown on me and I thought it was only OK at first. Didn't think much of Last Ride In at first, but heard it randomly somewhere and though it was great and immediately added it to several playlists. Am hoping D****y R****n Bastards will grow on me because I don't like it much. Sometimes when you just hear something out of context and not compared to the rest of an album you realise you actually like it.

Well a lot of the songs on Insomniac. It was (and is still) my least favorite GD album, but now I like it much more than I did. Armatage Shanks, Brat, Panic Song, Brain Stew, 86... Now they are some of my fav. GD songs. But this is the album I find the most difficult to sing along to, of some reason, and I guess that's why I didn't like it.

Also Makeout Party, Horseshoes And Handgrenades, Extraordinary Girl, Nightlife, Westbound Sign, See You Tonight, Wow! That's Loud, Know Your Enemy, Song Of The Century, BOBD, Coming Clean, Desensitized, On The Wagon and My Generation were like "eh.." and now I really love them :P

Makeout Party. When I heard the live version, I absolutely hated it. Once Dos! released though, Makeout Party sounded much better. Maybe it was Billie's voice in the live version that made me not like it.

Stray Heart is in the same boat as Makeout Party. I just don't know why though.

Most of Nimrod after Uptight and before King For a Day. Haushinka was one that I loved when I first heard it, but the others, like Take Back and Jinx, they just don't sit well with me. I'll still listen to them for a change of pace though. But Last Ride In. Not gonna lie. Hate it.

I never really like American Idiot or Holiday actually, the whole American Idiot album has grown on me. It's probably because I was like 11 when I first herd it and I didn't really understand the whole 'punk rock anthem' and the whole political point of it. Now I do and I just love all their music now :runaround:

Little Boy Named Train and Amanda are the most recent ones. I can't really remember any others since my opinions of songs have been kinda set in stone for years now, but the only one I would say grew on me would be She which I always liked but gradually moved up to being one of my top 3 favourites.

A lot of songs on 1039 and Kerplunk, eg. Road To Acceptance, Dry Ice, Android.

More recently, Platypus, Stop When The Red Lights Flash, Brutal Love, Sex, Drugs & Violence, All The Time, Bab's Uvula Who?, 21CB, Blood, Sex & Booze, Hold On, Do Da Da, On The Wagon, I could probably go on.

But have you ever found, that you love a song at first, but after a while you don't? Like maybe you've listened to it too much? (Difficult to do with Green Day). This happens to me with numerous bands. Used to adore Razorlight, can't stand them anymore.

Well from the trilogy: See You Tonight, Wild One (my favorite from DOS), Lady Cobra, Wow! That's Loud, Drama Queen, Sex Drugs & Violence and Walk Away.

And also 39/smooth was like a "Meh" for me, but in the last year that album really grew on me (Kerplunk! too :D)

Last Night on Earth. I never gave the song a chance, but I'm listening to it now and I'm surprised how much better it is than I remembered.
