GDM
Heh... Very nice, Billie. I also heard that Esper said between "Nobody's Likes You" and "Rock & Roll Girlfriend" to 'Put that fucking thing away.' On another note: Tanya, those pictures from y'all visit backstage are great. I'm so happy that everything worked out and Dawn got her wish. Yea, Michael did the other night. I was in row D, seat 15 or something, and heard him say it. (Oh, and maybe he didn't saying "fucking" but he did say put that camera away, thereabouts. Good for him. I understand why it's happening, and we all do it at concerts, which is bad enough, but I just can't take it in the theater. I'm really old fashioned that way. thats understandable but i am so grateful for all the vids seeing as i'll never be able to see the show if i did see it though i don't think i'd film it, i'd be too wrapped up in the moment. gotta love billie for that though! Yea, everyone is grateful, completely understandable, and I'm pretty sure that they understand why it's happening, but that doesn't mean that they can be happy about it. But, let's just drop it. Just thought everyone should know. It's fine during Good Riddance they said, but just annoying during the show. On another note: Tanya, those pictures from y'all visit backstage are great. I'm so happy that everything worked out and Dawn got her wish. Oh, and your welcomed! It was really nice to get the chance to finally talk with this week with you. And yes, Dawn getting her wish was just wonderful. Oh, and also thanks to Trey, the drummer for AIBway! He's pretty awesome, too!

Holly
I can't believe its over, all week I've just been holding on to this little bit of hope that I'd win the lottery or my parents suddenly decided to make my life and say 'Surprise! We were only kidding when we said you couldn't go, really we've bought you tickets and are letting you travel across the Atlantic on your own to see it because we realise how much this means to you' or SOMETHING. So now I feel really gutted that I never got chance to see this, but so so proud of Billie. Every video I see just makes me tear up so badly. Now I'm just holding out for a time machine to be developed. Edit: why am I crying so fucking much at that video ^ I wasn't even there. Gawd I'm such a dick

plaid ducky
Dear Billie, Thank you so much for caring about the musical. If there were other bands that had their music made into a musical, they would probably be as hands off as possible. They would never had put the effort and love that you put into this show... this cast.. everyone involved. Indeed, "American Idiot" is one of your babies, but as soon as the first person was brought on board, it became bigger than that. It became part of someone else's well-being. This show could have easily closed after Labor Day, but because you said 'yes' to be in the show, it not only gave the producers some more confidence, but you gave the cast and crew a much need boost of encouragement. They appreciate and love everything that you have given them- support, advice, friendship. Please get some rest and rock the faces off all those in South America. And it was a honor and thrill to see you, St. Billie. You, Tre, Mike, and the rest of the gang travel safely. Love, PD
plaid ducky
According to this New York Times article, the musical grossed $1,092,334 this past week. GDLoT
he actually remembered that happening to me 19 yrs ago. He and I talked a while about that. He was so easy to talk to. I promise you all I will tell all when I get home. Thank you all for rooting for me and wishing me luck. I love my GDC family So very happy for you! Rest well Dawn, we'll wait til later! It will be wonderful to read your recap!

I'd like to think that some of the buzz surrounding Billie Joe's appearance this week will rub off on the musical itself. Or, that people who came only to see him will return because they liked the show. I hope so.

GDLoT
just a thought... I wonder if Mike & Tre were in the audience ? I never saw any tweets last night that either one were there. Tre was there the night before though. Last night was awesome, especially after I took 1/2 a xanex, lol. (Long story, it's been a crazy week.) Dawn Meets Billie Joe Facebook photo gallery. Haha, you sure have had a crazy week! I'll have to look at these next! thank you for sharing with us Dawn's story and happy ending too! what memories! BTW, just to let you guys know, the cast is a bit peeved about all the videos coming out from the show. I don't blame them. They told us that some woman was in the front row at the matinee yesterday filming the entire show from behind her playbill. Billie Joe literally took her camera away from her during the show. I love it. EDIT: And I don't want to start a big discussion about it, but just thought that you all should know. Completely understand that! especially FRONT ROW! Kudos to Billie and Michael Esper too! But I think it has helped promote the show too. and it's funny how greenday.com posted a youtube bootleg form the show themselves. i think i'm contradictory about this too but you understand i know. Yes...I totally agree. I can talk about this all day but, I'm gonna keep it brief. When I saw it with Tony Vincent in it, I thought it was amazing. But, with Billie Joe in it...holy fuck. It was mind blowing. I even noticed some things I never seen before. Like, in some scenes, I never knew St. Jimmy just sat in the background in the dark. And when I saw Billie do it, even that was powerful cause I saw his body language and that brought more to the scene. And his singing...it took my breath away. He like, reached into the depths of his soul to sing these songs and it was just... beautiful. Billie Joe was born to play St. Jimmy. I'm stopping now. Like I said, I can go on all day about this. farley drexel hatcher
Oh wow - going back to the video thing; people were filming it from the front row?! Now I really appreciated all those far away videos, but filming from that level really is disrespectful. Any filming is, really, but it's not quite so bad if you're in the back up high somewhere and the footage you get is really only a taster, and not enough for the cast to notice and be distracted. Can't really believe anyone would do it and make it so obvious, though. This is why I think a few 60 second or so pro shot clips would have really made a difference. ScreamsInSilence815
The one thing that made me appreciate and respect and love Billie (in an admiring, "you're my hero" way) besides him being in the show really hit me when he was signing autographs and he looked so exhausted! He definitely could have just kept walking to his car, but he took the time to go around and sign as many autographs as possible when you could tell he was just exhausted. I had this thing going through my mind that if I ever saw Billie, even for a split second, I would say something to him. And I got the chance to say it, and I think he heard what I said because he smiled after I said it. I am soooo grateful for all of his dedication to making his fans happy. I was like "Billie Joe, your music has saved my life! Without Green Day, I don't know if I would be here right now, thank you so much!" and I got choked up and thought I was going to cry, and that's when he smiled. I know he probably has heard some version of that statement a thousand times and it seems cliche a little bit, but the fact that I even got to be that close to him and was able to say it just made my dream come true. Because, honestly, their music has helped me through the worst times in my life, as many other people here have said/experienced. Obviously, my story will never seem as hopeful and inspiring as Dawn's, with all the suffering she has been through, but in the same way that Green Day helped her through such difficulties that we cannot even begin to comprehend, I've felt like Green Day has helped me as well. I will forever be indebted to them for all they've given me since I've gotten into them and their music, and now that I got the chance to thank Billie, whether he really heard the entire thing or not, it honestly makes me soo happy. This was super cheesy and layered with gooey over-the-top ness, so I'm going to stop now. But seriously, whether or not he ever reads this or hears about it, THANK YOU SO MUCH BILLIE!! I do see their point to a degree, (especially if it is distracting and blatently obvious) I think the amount of Green Day fans that have no chance of ever seeing the musical, let alone Billie in the musical, getting to experience just a little bit of what we did makes the video---ing ok in my mind. But then again I think they should have had a professional do it and not have to deal with everyone else taking videos. I am sure they understand they have a mix of Green Day fans and theater fans going to these shows and its gonna happen, (especially with Billie in it) I don't think someone watching a video in Lativa, Germany or Australia (that could never attend the show anyway), is going to affect ticket sales. But thats just my opinion. I hope they can see the good in it too (for the fans that can't attend) instead of just being annoyed because its not the right thing to do. If that makes sense
GDM
Oooh, oooh, I got a funny story from last night! When St. Jimmy is sitting on the teevee during 21 Guns, Billie tried to set one of those pieces of paper that say, "Love Happened Here May 5" on fire. And it was inflammable and wouldn't go up. I sat and watched him try, and then he just tore it up, lol. When we were backstage with Dawn, I think ToniAnn or Julia mentioned it to him, and he said something like, 'yea, I really tried to set it on fire, but i had no idea it wasn't lightable." He said it funnier than that, but it was a hehe moment all around. And, at least he tried, haha. I kinda liked that moment. It would have been awesome if it had gone up. If that makes sense No, I'm pretty sure that they do understand it, they do. But it's really traditional in the theater not to film live performances. For an actor or even a musician (and you know how Green Day feels about that stuff, too), it's even more annoying. But like I said, let's just drop it because it's already happened and it is nice that Green Day fans around the world get to see it. Someone told me recently of a incident where Patti Lupone went off on someone during a show who kept taking pictures during it. It really is a no-no during live theater.
