Awesome videos and pics! I've just come back from a vacation destination from where I can't watch any videos. It's somewhere that you people have never heard of. But Billie Joe in the musical looks awesome!

What did Alise S mean when she said, in her update, that John broke up laughing twice? Did he...like...have a laughing fit on stage?? On Broadway?

And this is the first photo that Billie Joe had taken of himself and posted on twitter. He seems to really be getting into it. He should get his own. Or not. Whatever. Still rocks. :runaround:

John started laughing after St. Jimmy (?) but it's actually part of the show. He didn't break character, Johnny's supposed to laugh at that moment. :)

Haha oh thanks. I just thought for a while that the show kinda fell apart at moments, because of the fact that Billie Joe was in it. Glad to hear otherwise! :)

Woooo great, thank you! :D

totally random and may have already been said, but i knew i had seen that black button shirt before :woot: 2009 VMA's

Waaah you're rigth! It's the see-through t-shirt!

(although I'm not sure if that was from the 09 VMA's, but I always mix up my award shows, haha)

You guys realize these actors are professionals, right? A rock star, who wrote the songs and story that they are performing and portraying, performing with them isn't going to psyche them out while in their element and break character that easily.

This isn't some high school play. This is BROADWAY.

O.M.G.

well I first wasnt that happy with the idea of him being in the musical to be honest but wow ...really from what i've seen he did a really good job like....maybe he's not the best actor but he did this with a lot of his passion and heart and that's what making it so special....he knows the best i think how to "play" st. jimmy...i mean he created him and in some little dark place of him i'm sure he has his own st. jimmy and can appear as him amazingly good.....plus:

he looks fucking, fucking sexy with the hair and what he's wearing and ftw at homecoimg *-*

not only his voice which sounds so special and different to me,but also omg you know what i nearly died when i saw him taking off his shirt there in that video *-*

Heh... I feel bad for Andrew and Kobak for next week. People are (a) missing Billie Joe and (b) missing Tony Vincent. :ermm: Those boys will do fine, though. The regular fans of the show will come out to see them. They want to check off peeps on their checklist:

That makes me kinda feel bad for Tony, but im happy Billie got good reviews!

Yeah I felt the same but then he doesn't actually fault Tony's performance, thankfully. I think to him it's more about what he feels Billie brings to the role and he makes a good point about it confirming he's fully endorsed and supports the play itself - it's not just another media thing to bring in money and exposure, he's actually involved.

Ouch! That was a bit of a snarky review towards Tony! Although he does say that Tony is better in the role, it's just that the whole play sucks without BJA in it.

I feel badly for Josh and Andrew also...there will be a bit of a letdown at the first non-BJA show. I hope people who maybe came the first time just to see Billie Joe will return again to see it just because they liked it.

Dunno if this has been posted but it's good (though, not really for Tony Vincent.)

Funny how they compared it to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

I feel kind of bad for Tony in that one, but of course it's great Billie got that a good review.

Wait. Is that from stage door?

Sorry for the late reply, but yeah, it's outside the stage door, along the barriers that they put up.

I was there last night, and it was just incredibly awesome!! I didn't get any pics or videos, but I do think someone I was with did. :) Gotta give her time tho, 'cause she's traveling.

We had center balcony seats, so it was tough to see facial expressions, etc, but I really thought Billie Joe rocked the fuck outta that stage! His vocal range is different than TV's, but Billie Joe's was powerful and intense, and he (and the rest of the cast) fed off the excitement in the room. I've seen it before where the audience was really not into it, and you can feel it in the performance, I think. The audience was definitely into it last night - well duh! - the excitement was almost palpable in the room! The whole performance just kicked ass.

I'm glad Bilie Joe's getting good reviews - he honestly looks natural up there, although I have to say a little rougher around the edges than Tony is - but that's not a criticism, per se, just an observation. Where Tony's 'St. Jimmy' kinda glides down the staircase, Billie's 'St. Jimmy' does it in a less 'Broadway' way, if that makes sense. To me, it's just another interpretation of the character, and from the creator himself.

We did see him go in, but he, Adie, and Bill S hurried thru the stage door whilst everyone was busy with the lottery. After, we came down to the lobby and sorta ran into Jason White, who was on the phone. Me, being the rude New Yorker than I am :pinch: asked him for a picture, and he was nice enough to do so for the three of us. Those pics also with Beth. :)

I do have a few photos of friends, and inside the theater, and a group photo with Michael Esper afterward. How sweet is he????

Can't wait to go Friday to see it from a closer view.

That article encompasses EVERYTHING THAT IS WRONG WITH BROADWAY. Ugh, I hated it, even though I reposted it on my Facebook.

There was an article in the New York Times recently about B'way shows that don't have stars in them and how they often fail because of it. No one wants to spend tons of money on a show without a star, live, in front of them. Therefore only shows that have that star power become hits and everything else fails because of the high ticket price. Makes me gag. And therefore, no one attempts to do different things on B'way. I've always thougth that Michael Mayer made American Idiot too safe and wasn't necessarily the right director for the production, but that's just me.

Though I am glad that he liked Billie Joe in it, I think I'd like to rip this guys' throat out.

I am not one to cry but I bet you when I watch this for the 1st time Fri night

I'll probably ball my eyes out. I myself am a disabled war veteran. so that part

were Starks plays a wounded Soldier will probably make me tear up. I love

the fact that it has a depiction of a Soldier in the play, especially how AI

is so anti war. Those of us that served in the military never asked to go to war

we were lead into it. But we did join to serve and protect our country, and so we

did our duty. I was a combat medic it was my job to help Soldiers wounded in battle

and at the same time I had to fight also, because I was getting shot at while

trying to save others. We were Soldiers that were lead to a war we never asked for

but I did my best to serve my country and do my duty as a Soldier. I actually joined

the Army 16 days before 9-11 happened. I joined to serve my country and support my

family. I went through a lot on all of my deployments. I will never forget the day our Humvee

got hit by an IED and that caused me to be in this wheelchair. People ask me all the time

if I had it to do all over again would I have still joined. I never hesitate with my answer,

yes I most certainly would join again, because when I thin about how many Soldiers

in my 3 deployments that I had a hand in saving their life, I shutter to think how many

Soldiers might have died without me there. For having a hand in helping save the lives

of someone's son, daughter, mother, or father that serve this country as Soldiers, being

injured and living life from this wheelchair is a very small price to pay to have had the honor

to help so many. I would with no hesitation have done it again. I am excited to see how

the actor playing the Soldier comes across in the play & how close is it to being art imitating life.

Dawn, what a touching sorry. Im on the verge of tears. Im so happy youre coming to see the show.

I hope to be there friday as well, it would be nice to meet you!
