Of Rage and Love
Amazing, guys. I do hope that people still come and see the show even without Billie in it. While he's not there physically, he surely left his mark and a little bit of him resides in everyone and everything there. I agree, I feel like Billie brought his own interpretation of St Jimmy as a character that could influence Tony Vincent

Tripe
Tanya, apparently you got a brief discussion about filming AI this week whether you wanted it or not, LOL! I have mixed feelings about it, too. I generally despise even watching crappy youtube video of concert footage. (nothing more headache inducing than shaky video and audio from an overdriven iphone mic in the pit, IMO). BUT. This week was one of the first times I was thankful that some people had the nerve to videotape a bit of the show. I had major family plans this week and weekend so my heart sank when the announcement came about the timing of BJA on Broadway. There was no possible was for me to get there. I really had no hope that we would get any quality video, so it was a nice surprise to actually see a few things on youtube that were decent in both video and audio quality. That, and the live calls I got a few times this week () kept me content. That being said, I really am against someone filming right in the front rows. I think it would be extremely distracting to the actors. Often, cameras DO have a little blinking light indicating they are recording, so that would be enough to put someone off their game a bit or at least be bothersome. So, to me it's a huge no-no to film from where the actors can see you.

plaid ducky
Yes - that's a great picture. Can I ask how many times you've seen the show? Thanks for all the info about it. If I do go on Sunday, that would be my 20th time seeing it. Once in Berkeley and all the rest on Broadway. Heh... Okay, random video coming up: The first national tour cast of Spring Awakening did this video a long time ago. It was taking the song "Bitch of Living" into a birthday song called "Bitch of 40" and they mentioned Michael Mayer and Green Day in it (1:55 mark). LOL. It's cute. mary_x3
i gave billie a single rose after good riddance, he gave me the handwritten lyrics to the new song he wrote. i'm pretty much still speechless, it means so much to me that he gave me something so special, and the look on his face as he was handing it to me was just so sweet. mallorymaloney
While i get the reasoning behind it, it still annoys me. Yeah, Green Day doesn't prefer people to be taking pictures during the show, and there's a valid reason why - but it bugs the crap out of me when it's against some kind of "tradition". I honestly don't see how having a camera recording the show would be distracting. I understand flashes and such, but someone just sitting there quietly with a camera that isn't blinking or being obnoxious - the only reason against it is monetary, and that's fucking stupid. I agree 100%, Andres --- And I'm fairly certain people who won't ever get the chance to see the musical themselves aren't going to think badly of the musical or the actors because a blurry fifty two second video they watched on YouTube didn't transpose the same 'flavour' they meant to experience sitting in the theatre. Just because they can't pop down to Broadway every single week to taste that 'flavour', doesn't mean they should miss out on the delicacy altogether. Sure, watching and listening to American Idiot with your own two eyes may be as wonderful as eating a piece of fine smoked sule. But the problem is, the best most of us can afford is a jar of Cheez Whiz. If you prefer chowing down on sule and croccantini for all your snacks, then by all means, go ahead ... But don't try and deny us our 'Whiz and Wonderbread while you're at it. Someone posted a video of Billie doing autographs after the show... I just skipped through it and watched a couple seconds each time, but holy jeez. All you hear it people screaming and constantly there's someone screaming "billie billie billie billie billie". here. The fans actually seemed pretty polite to me! Sure, they were loud, but don't tell me you wouldn't be if you were two feet away from Billie Joe and a part of a screaming crowd yourself. I know I wouldn't be able to contain myself! omg mallory I just laughed like crazy. Just call me Josie btw. LOL, I'm glad, Josie! I was kinda worried after I posted that you'd think I was trying to be mean about it as opposed to just making a funny.
