Somebody else posted this, and i don't know how legit it is. But apparently, there is one

"A number of internet radio stations call themselves "KCUF""

"KGHT, a radio station (100.5 FM) licensed to El Jebel, Colorado, United States, which held the call sign KCUF from August 2005 to June 2010"

(this is actually more a response to the person you quoted, but I'm lazy)

I hope KCUF will be streaming online.

It's pirate radio so I doubt it, if they were going to stream it online they might as well just release the demos because everyone will have them. Although that wouldn't be a bad thing :P

I doubt they'd stream it online, I think they like the whole DIY old fashioned pirate radio thing. Tbh we'll probably never hear anything from this, they did the same thing when they were making AI and 21st CB and we never heard anything then. It'll probably only be random people who happen to tune their radios as they drive past the studio who'll hear anything. I'd love it if they streamed it but I wouldn't get my hopes up for anything.

Happy to hear his :woot:

And I always knew California is the place to be, so no surprise at all that they'll get it again ;)

According to this video that came out in late 2008 while the were in studio recording 21st CB they used 98.5

It can't always be the same station but I would assume the stations they use will be in the 80's and 90's because it's usually just dead air.

Depends where you are, 90s are popular here, but yeah they could always change the frequency, I hope he says what the frequency will be in a tweet, then maybe someone can record some of the stuff they broadcast :)

GUYS they made up KCUF! There's no reason to try to look it up online. It's called a pirate station for a reason! Call letters usually have to do with the region of the station or the owner so I would guess it stands for something.

I wish they would bring the pirate radio to the bay area after all it is their home.

Is there any way to record the pirate radios? And also, anyone over the place where it will be streamed?

I know they have done this before, and nobody recorded but this time Billie tweeted about it, to let us know...

I am so lost.

This was posted a few pages ago:

"While recording demos in Southern California, Green Day purchased a pirate radio transmitter and started broadcasting under the call letters KCUF. Vig, Green Day, and engineer Chris Dugan created playlists, recorded fake station IDs (“Listen to Rebel Radio KCUF!”), and flipped the switch. The bonus for unsuspecting Orange County commuters was hearing new Green Day material, live and unfiltered. Later, the band inserted bits of the pirate broadcasts into the final mix. The compressed, crunchy sections in “Christian’s Inferno,” “East Jesus Nowhere,” “¡Viva La Gloria!,” “Before the Lobotomy,” and “Last of the American Girls” are straight from KCUF."

I AM SO EXCITED OH MY LORD

Emily's army mentions KCUF in one of their songs :P

“The band tried setting up the transmitter at their house in Los Feliz,” Vig adds, “but we weren’t getting a signal, so we turned up the power. It blew out all the power on the block! The next day, we found a note on the door from the FCC saying, ‘Maybe you should cease and desist before you get into any trouble.’ So we shut it down.”
