Green Day Tweets

I'm kind of torn on this situation. There is a certain amount of pressure on the band to go and see this kid, and it would be great if they could, but what if they can't? For whatever reason they might just not be able to do it. And if they can't, at least the family know that the band is thinking of them. It might not be much but it's something.

Yeah, this is kind of what I'm thinking as well.

That tweet was nice. I'm sure it would mean a lot to Kyle.

I really hope they can visit him. But I don't believe so. =/

I thought it was sweet that he bothered to tweet. I mean I know it's effortless but he could have ignored it completely. It would be amazing if they could visit Kyle but they may have other commitments that simply cannot be avoided or whatever... :/ Maybe they'll send him something?

Awwww, Billie Joe is so nice. :wub:

I've just read his tweet to Kyle. I hope Kyle is able to read it.. I hope he has twitter, or his family, or friends..

Kyle is blind. :sleep:

I have mixed feelings about this too. I do think it's wonderful that BJA and Adrienne have made a special note of his very sad situation and acknowledged him, knowing what it means to him. It would be nice if BJA and maybe Mike and/or Tre could get down to visit Kyle. But I think they should do it completely in private, with no media attention.

Does anyone remember when there was a kid in a coma...I think it was in Europe or the UK, perhaps...and his parents knew he was a huge GD fan so they played GD music constantly in the hopes that he would come out of his coma? He eventually did, and the music they played was considered a contributing factor to him awakening. Anyway, when Carson Daly asked BJA about it on TRL, and wondered if the band was going to talk to or acknowledge the kid in some way, Billie Joe was kind of offhand and cavalier about it, mumbling something to the effect of, "Yeah, I think we're going to be sending him some stuff or whatever." It kind of surprised me at the time. This would have been back in the AI era.

It would be a really nice gesture if they go to see the little kid, but... no one can oblige them :unsure:

I think it must be really hard to see a person suffering with this awful disease, and the boy wouldn't be able to enjoy it as if he were healthy. But that decision only can make it GREEN DAY and nobody else, in my opinion. They're not going to be "saviors" if they go, but they're not going to be heartless monsters if they don't go either. It must be hard... =/

As for Billie Joe's tweet, to me it was very sweet. ♥

As bad as this maybe sounds, I've just got this niggling feeling in the back of my head about all the other kids that wanted to meet them and never did. I'm certainly not attacking Kyle/his family, but I just feel sorry for all the people that never got this much attention.

And no-one in the band should feel under pressure to do it. They must get a lot of requests like this and they can't do them all.

Just talked to Kyle on the phone. I talked to his father Oscar too. Beautiful family. And they're Raider fans! Yes! I love that kid!

wow billie, much respect.

I have to say that it's really great that all of the artists rallied to give this kid his wish! I think it's funny that Beej let us know... He knows that many of us find this important, too. :D

So maybe that means that he's not going to see him... :ermm:

Sure that phone call has made Kyle really happy :happy:

I'm constantly surprised by what a great human being Billie is...and how everything he does (especially in situations like this) seems much more honest and heartfelt than when other artists/performers do them :happy:

A phone call is just as good too. The call probably made Kyle and his family just as happy as he would be if Billie went to see them.

I'm so happy that Kyle got to meet/talk to all the bands, his wish is fulfilled.

A phone call is just as good as a visit, I'm really glad he/they(maybe?) were able to get in contact with him on such short notice. Really touching.

tweet = lame

call = good

visit = best

but the boys all have their own lives, families, committments. they will do what they can, that i am sure. anyone would.

tragic situation all around.

Well, to me, it's really good, but it's not the same. And like I said, surely that made the kid very happy...

A phone call is great, I'm sure it ment alot to kyle and the family that their son is getting to meet/talk to his idols. It must be such a difficult time and hopefully the likes of green day, linkin park and ozzy making contact is helping to keep the young lad in a positive mood.

Thats awesome!

My heart really goes out to this family, what a terrible situation...no one wants their children to go before them. I just hope for some kind of miracle for Kyle.

Very sweet of them to contact him. I'm sure the band realise just how many other kids have been in the same position without it being publicised or the kids getting their wish, and i think an actual visit would have been too much.

And personally, and I'm not attacking Kyle's family here in anyway, I found something a bit odd about the video.

Aw, that's very sweet :happy:

On a side note; it's also great what the Linkin Park guys and Ozzy Osbourne have done for the kid. Not a fan of either, but respect to them as well.

I was so happy to see the tweet that Billie Joe called and talked to Kyle and his family. Its things like this that make me think Green Day can not possibly get any more awesome something like this happens and makes me love and respect the band that much more. I know that call from Billie must have made Kyle and his family's day I can only imagine the smile that must be on Kyle's face today.
