Misheard Green Day Lyrics

LaughingClock

Recommended Posts

I've been gone a while. Bumping this thread back up because it makes me laugh and hopefully someone can still add to it.

Having a baby this month so I need some laughter.

P.s. - I must have been sloshed when I titled this thread. Ha.

in Letterbomb, the very first time I listened to it, I thought I heard Billie sing

"The underbelly sexed up 10 high"

And a very silly one; when I first heard Good Riddance (Time of your Life) back in 97-98 I was sure the lyrics were "It's something unprotect-able"

I really made myself look like an idiot singing that song for a few years til someone corrected me

I just remember on a past Static Noise episode Tony said he found someone online who thought 21 Guns was 'one, tiny mongoose'

In Desensitized, I thought "Clenching my teeth tight" was "Jimmy dee day". Whatever that means.

Boulevard of Broken Dreams- I heard “Sometimes I wish Bill will find me” instead of “Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me”. What was I thinking who the F is Bill lol.

American Idiot- I heard “Well that’s enough to argue” instead of “For that's enough to argue” and also I heard “Now everybody to the propaganda” instead of “Now everybody do the propaganda” as well as “It's going out to idiot America” instead of “It's calling out to idiot America”. Man I miss understood that song a lot. Now I listen to it I think man I’m dumb y’know.

When I looked up lyrics to Minority and Warning I've see. Gosh Darn in Warning instead of Caution and in Minority "One nation underdark" instead of "One nation under dog"

in espionage, i always thought it means " ", but actually it means " ".

in holiday, i thought it means "this is the darling of the rest of our lies" but it means "this is the dawning of the rest of our lives".

in who wrote holden caulfield, i thought it means "i will ever die", but it means "oh well nevermind"...

I thought that private ale went: "I wonder if you're sitting all alone or in your private ale", but it actually says "or is your boyfriend there". I know that it doesn't make any sense, right? But for some reason I had never really thought about it

In Peacemaker at the first listen I thought I heard "Well I got a beaver"

Since that moment I always think of Peacemaker as the "beaver" song

In Burnout, I thought it said "I''ll live inside this pencil case" instead of "mental cave".. I was like what the heck? Living in a pencil case?

Also, When I come Around. I still don't know the right lyrics just by listening. I'm always forgetting them.

Oh jeez, in Basketcase: "Am I just paranoid, or am I a scone?!"

HAHAHAHAHAHA. I mean seriously, this could be a fucking coffee table book.

Of course the "scone" instead of "stoned" lyric had to be British. Most people here don't even know what a scone is believe it or not.

Gold I say.

It would be pretty awkward for Billie to say I've got a beaver. Y'know, I always thought he was a man.

:P

I use to think the lyrics to 21 Guns were "When you burned down your last of hope" it's really when you burned down the house and home.

I got the chorus of Haushinka wrong. Apparently it's 'This girl has flown far away' not 'has gone far away'

In 21 Guns I heard "Like a lion looking for forgiveness from a soul" instead of "Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone"
