Nzap
"Don't want a nation under the new media" I heard "Don't want a nation to die the new media" Sorry to disappoint but it is actually "Don't want a nation under the new mania"

DoodleBob
Sorry to disappoint but it is actually "Don't want a nation under the new mania" Nope. It's definitely "Don't want a nation under the new media".
Elena
Nope. It's definitely "Don't want a nation under the new media". i thought that, too, but then i looked up the lyrics in the booklet of the album and it actually is "Don't want a nation under the new mania"
DoodleBob
i thought that, too, but then i looked up the lyrics in the booklet of the album and it actually is "Don't want a nation under the new mania" Yeah, but booklets can have mistakes. Like, in the Danger Days booklet, they spell "capital", "capitol". It'd be an easy mistake to write "mania" instead of "media". I'm not saying that you're wrong, but listen closley to the studio version and the BIAB version. It sounds way more like "media" than "mania". But I guess I could be hearing it wrong... Tre's Lost Testicle
I originally thought King For A Day was about watching your mother getting dressed.....but then i watched them play it live....I learned quickly what the meaning was

I hear Mania on the album version, but Media on the live albums so I assumed it's Mania, but maybe he has changed it after the release of the album and now sings Media. It's just another Green Day mystery

But I guess I could be hearing it wrong... yeah i know, but i actually don't think that it's a mistake this time ...but i agree: it sounds like "media"...and i thought it means "media" for the last years and just looked it up, cos everyone here wondered what's the right lyrics, and when i looked it up, there stood "mania"...and i mean, mania and media almost sound the same Even I am quite sure that its media. idk...i've heard that for years..and sang it and when i looked it up and it said mania i was quite shocked so maybe you're right I hear Mania on the album version, but Media on the live albums so I assumed it's Mania, but maybe he has changed it after the release of the album and now sings Media. It's just another Green Day mystery haha yeah maybe yep, a new GD mystery ...we maybe should put all lyrics mysteries together and if we ever get the chance to meet them, we could ask them (or the ppl who meet them could ask them...if we don't meet them xD)

Jet Taman
It took me 3 years before I realized that in Boulevard of Broken Dreams he was saying "I walk alone, I walk alone" and not "I wear cologne, I wear cologne". A Killjoy from Detroit
In minority, my cousin and i always thought "Down with the moral majority" was "down with the bore of maturity" and we tagged those lyrics on the back wall of the grocery store
