Nzap
I used to think that in American Idiot where he says "all across the alien nation" "was all across the area and nation" Isn't it Alienation? In my AI booklet it says "alienation" at least. Also both in the Musical and RockBand it's "Media" in the first verse, but I hear "Mania", which is the same as in my booklet as well. I'm confused, and have been for the past 3 or 4 years with this.

Rosie May
I've got a problem, I always say "so made the best of this test and don't ask why", I always thought he was saying "make the best of this task," I thought that for ages In KFAD, I only had the BIAB version at first so I never knew much of the lyrics. I always heard "*indesipherable mumbles* right on!" for "princess by dawn."
Marlee
thanks to the cast album, I thought for years that it was "the television's an extortionist" not the town's bishop in Letterbomb
Clayish
"The television's an extortionist" is actually a better line in my opinion.

insomniactwin
In Homecoming when he says "I started fucking running as soon as my feet touched ground" I always thought he said something about pizza. I can't remember exactly what I thought it was, but whenever I'd listen to that part I'd always think it never made sense. I THOUGHT it said "i started fuckin right as soon as my pizzas browned" hahahaha thats gotta be the winner of "dumbest mis-heard lyric ever" fuck me man i can;t stop laughing... i forgot that thats what i thought it said... if that makes sense
radiofriendlyunitshifter
I thought it was "Working man's insanity" instead of "working your insanity" in The Static Age.
anya.
in Tre's song Dominated Love Slave. I thought it was: 'cause I love feeling nerdy and I love feeling cheap. I'm a fail, I already knew that. hahahahaha
Lampostc
I can't remember what exactly i thought but i had a huge issue with mishearing everything in Misery, I was such a fail. I also had a few problems with St.Jimmy but my friend set me straight
The Snark
"The television's an extortionist" is actually a better line in my opinion. Agreed. As much as I try, my ears refuse to hear "town bishop". In Extraordinary Girl: "like a pig left in the rain" instead of "pet" In She: "social dull" instead of "tool", "brink of self control" instead of "brick", and "I'm taking heat" instead of "heed" In 27th. Ave. Shuffle: "if you call me Steven" instead of "living"...I always wondered what was so bad about that name. And poor Sassafras Roots: something something something Wasting your time blah blah blah Wasting your time mumble mumble mumble Wasting your time SMOKING CIGARETTES Wasting your time

amy_runs
In Waiting, He Says 'Better Thank Your Lucky Stars' Well, I Thought He Always Said 'I've Had It With Your Monkey Shines' what exactly is a monkey shine?
TheSaltOfTheEarth
Oh my god I just burst out laughing at 'monkey shines.' I was listening to 86 the other day and I swear it said 'Let the nuts swing past,' instead of 'Let the next one pass.'
Punk-tastic32
thanks to the cast album, I thought for years that it was "the television's an extortionist" not the town's bishop in Letterbomb That's what I always thought too. The cast album has made me realize how much I was messing up the lyrics. Agreed. As much as I try, my ears refuse to hear "town bishop". In Extraordinary Girl: "like a pig left in the rain" instead of "pet" And poor Sassafras Roots: something something something Wasting your time blah blah blah Wasting your time mumble mumble mumble Wasting your time SMOKING CIGARETTES Wasting your time Is it "pet"? I always thought it was "bird". Sassafras Roots was, and still is really hard for me....
The Snark
What it's not brink of self destruction Nope. It's "brick of self control". Is it "pet"? I always thought it was "bird". haha...Billie really needs to learn how to enunciate better. It was the cast recording that made me realize it was "pet". I guess we all owe that album a big thank you for helping us with lyrics.
Nuclear Winter
someone posted here that in homecoming, he/she thought it was "after ten coups of coffe and BACON!" When i read it, it made me laugh so today, i was listening to homecoming again and when that part of the lyrics came on, i could totally hear "bacon", too! i was suddenly laughing really hard because of that and everyone looked at me I.. thought that it was "...Coffee and Bacon!!!" for six years until this was posted.... wow
jos_whatsername
And poor Sassafras Roots: something something something Wasting your time blah blah blah Wasting your time mumble mumble mumble Wasting your time SMOKING CIGARETTES Wasting your time hahahahahaha omg yeah thats what i ALWAYS do as well. that smoking cigarettes-part is the only part where i know the worrds, apart from the repeating "wasting your time" I.. thought that it was "...Coffee and Bacon!!!" for six years until this was posted.... wow awww.. yeah, it really sounds like that! it's not really logical, though

At the end of hitchin a ride, i thought billie sang " i say yeah boy yeah" lol, i STILL don't what what the lyrics are. yeah, and in extraordinary girl, until AI the Musical, i thought it was "BIRD" left in the rain, not pet .. .
