Misheard Green Day Lyrics

Only just noticed yesterday that in haushinka it's a "girl with a peculiar name" not a "girl with a freaky name" like I've always thought.

 a girl with a freaky name would have been about ten times better.

Green Day - Holiday

When I first heard it:

"Hear the sound of a polaroid" (haha)

What it actually is:

"Hear the sound of the falling rain"

What? I'm not the only one? Thank god! I still sing it that way. LOL I almost hate to admit it but up until a few years ago I though the line in Basketcase was "I'm not paranoid I'm just dumb." LOL

It's actually:

Am I just paranoid?

Am I just stoned?

I actually thought about this, but I am assuming when you are saying rubber coat you mean rain coat? We don't actually call them rubber coats over here, they are rain coats. A rubber coat would be an accessory at an S&M store. So, Billie using overcoat and rubber coat could both make sense.

I'd say the rubber would make sense with the "nuclear winter" line, as rubber is often used in haz-mat suits.

So have we established that Last of the American Girls really is about the last girl to survive the apocalypse?

I think so, yes. Billie's got into the Fallout series, and 21CB follows the lives of Christian and Gloria in the couple of weeks surrounding the Great War.

Always thought "Send me your amnesty down to the broken hearted" was "send me your hand and speak down to the broken hearted"

?????????????? I don't know. haha.

I used to think the "oooh" in Letterbomb was "oopse." "So strike the fucking match to light this fuse. Oopse."

Posted

I thought it was "use" but pronounced like it rhymes with fuse. "Strike this fucking match to light this fuse, uuuzze."

I always thought it was a rubber coat too because the coming of the nuclear winter.

 This is one of my favorite threads!

I thought he was just repeating the end of the word fuse for emphasis

I think he is just stretching the fuze out fffffffffff-uuuuuuzzzzzeeeeee. He is making it a two syllable word.

No like when the medical imaging health workers where a rubber coat so they don't get radiation when giving you an xray - so I thought billie was saying rubber coat because of nuclear fall out.

We would say overcoat - as in a coat to keep us warm - we call rain coats - rain coats. :D

He stops the word fuze all together then says the oooh if you listen

I've probably mentioned this one before too...but my username is an epic fail, since it's a misheard lyric.

Fourteen year old me thought it was 'better than air' instead of 'better than here' in Give me Novacaine.

I thought it until now! How do I keep living? It makes more sense, but I liked the idea with air. I mean you breathe air and you can snort drugs and that's definitely better/more fun than plain air, haha.

Most people did because it's a better lyric - makes sense.

I continue to sing/hear it that way

Honestly, this is really embarassing but, in Extraordinary Girl, I used to hear: "She's all alone again, wiping nachos from her eyes" (and I still do)

I always thought it was "wiping matches from her eyes". I like nachos better.
