...and people who pretend to dislike it but secretly listen to it nonstop under the covers. :toocool:

I like to think this is true :D

Funny to think that a big portion of these misheard lyrics are from JoS.

As a matter a fact, I have my own:

"Like the lonely bitches of a shopping mall."

It makes total sense too.

Holy Fuck I can't believe this thread is still kicking.

Five years ago when I started it, I would have tried to been less stoned and came up with a better title. Ha

It has brought me countless hours of laughter and I am about to go read through the latest. Haven't been on these forums in a while but hope everyone is well.

I had a daughter and that has completely changed my life for the better. Be well Green Day peeps.

Forgot to say, RawHam.

I salute you for bestowing GDC with this epic thread. Nice to see you pop back, congrats on the daughter! Raw ham to you too :D

Green Day - Holiday

When I first heard it:

"Hear the sound of a polaroid" (haha)

What it actually is:

"Hear the sound of the falling rain"

I've probably mentioned this one before too...but my username is an epic fail, since it's a misheard lyric.

Fourteen year old me thought it was 'better than air' instead of 'better than here' in Give me Novacaine.

I didn't know it was "better than here" until about two weeks ago, and I prefer "air" anyway.

Thank you! Same here, to be honest. If the lyrics were actually 'better than air', it'd sound way better.

It's still my favourite Green Day song though. :')

I'm listening to Mass Hysteria and I was about to post the lyrics on my Facebook page. I always thought the lyric was "bang bang this is not a test" but apparently it's "maybe". Either way

I mishear or dont understand a lot of Green Day's lyrics. I just sing it how I hear it. LOL Then I go on a lyric site and feel embarrassed.

"Mayday" makes this song even better...Thank you! The lyrics' sites I read all said "maybe".

Wait, I'm not the only one?

I'm surprised at how inaccurate lyric websites are lately. They're so completely off on just about every song I've looked up lately.

I have to admit, at some point in my early adolescence I believed that in Last of the American Girls, Billie sings "she's an endless whore", even though the pronunciation of war and whore differs significantly.

For some reason in Wake me up when September Ends, it always sounds like he is saying "walling from the stars" instead of "falling". I know what the lyrics are, but listen to it. Especially live versions.

Yeah, you're right about it sounding different. I've always noticed. But it never really made me confused or anything.

Just remembered what I used to mishear in WMUWSE, in the second or third verse... where it goes, "ring out the bells again, like we did when spring began". When I was 12, I thought it was "like we did then screams began" no idea why

LoL I still sing it that way. Especially on live versions. When I listen to BIAB I sing it that way. Haha *blush*

I didn't know at first if it was "the rain" or "Loraine" who was falling from the stars...

In the end of Homecoming, I thought the line "but to you and me, it's Jingletown, it's home" was "but you and me, this cheap old town is home".
