Realistically collaborating with a similar genre band, example Blink, Offspring etc would not work. I find the best collaborations are when 2 artists of completely different styles come together to create something new and unique.

Having recently heard the Metallica and Lou Reed collaboration, which I enjoy but I recognise that it really is terrible musically. But when done right I believe 2 contrasting artists could create something truly amazing. This is something I believe would be a great Green Day project, but the collaborating band would need to fit perfectly. As an above poster said, someone like Trans Siberean Orchestra would be perfect and awesome
