What band would you like to see Green Day collaborate with?

I'm not talking about 'whoring' out their music for profit, or mixing their songs with some rap song over a pre-recorded beat. I mean a true collaboration with an artist they respect and like, where the end product would be something they could both be proud of. And like I said, it wouldn't even have to be recorded, just a live thing would be awesome, in my opinion.

Live would be kind of cool, kind of like when MCR had Brian May play guitar for Welcome to the Black Parade in England?

I'm not a big MCR fan and I don't know what instance you're referring to, but I get the idea, and yes, even something like that. Or you mentioned a female singer; maybe if they had some woman from a band, or a solo artist they like, come out during a live show and do a song of Green Day's, and they do a song of her's - something like that. I'm a fan of variety and mixing genres, but I know a lot of people aren't, especially when it comes to their favorite bands. Green Day will always be one of my favorites, but I'd see nothing wrong with collaborating with someone of a completely different genre.

Hmmm, whilst I do think that another collaboration could be an interesting prospect, it isn't something that I would personally be getting really excited for if I'm to be entirely honest. The U2 thing was good when it came out, but I haven't even listened to that for about 2 years

I wouldn't mind it, if it's a between albums thing. I don't want guest anything on their albums. I'm fine with U2.

But if they pull a Coldplay+Rihanna move...

I think what they did with U2 was pretty fucking amazing! If they collaborated with anyone, it would definitely have to be a band/musician of the same caliber as Green Day...don't put shit with awesomeness!

I guess I'm one of the few Coldplay fans who actually loves Princess of China, ha!

I would love it if they did a duet with Kelly Clarkson. She's from a different genre, and they're different enough that it'd be interesting, but they're also kind of similar in that both like to try out new styles of music. Also, I think her voice would work well with Billie's. I've been wanting them to collaborate for like 7 years now (for a lot of reasons).

This mashup of Brain Stew and Because Of You is great, and shows the potential I think:

In general I don't love having a lot of collaborations, just cause I want to hear the artist I like and not random people, but if I like the other artist then it's cool.

I'm not sure I'd want this on a GD record - maybe just a single between albums, or it could go on her own album.

I think it'd be cool if they collaborated with someone from a different genre of music - pop, R&B, electronic, etc.

Gifs not working, but are you kidding me? If Green Day collaborated with the crap that is called "music" nowadays I would have to kill myself from the shame and dissapointment.

That seems like a kind of narrow-minded opinion - I mean, a LOT of music out there sucks right now. But there's also a lot of good music (from varying genres - pop, r&b, etc), it's just not necessarily what is being played on the radio. Just because an artist falls under a particular genre doesn't mean that their music automatically sucks or is epic or whatever. There are plenty of punk bands I would never consider buying a cd from, but Green Day is awesome. Just because some pop singer suck and have crappy music doesn't mean they represent the norm - other pop singers might be really cool and have some of the best music you've ever heard. In any genre, there will be the good and the bad. The genre isn't the problem, it's the specific artists. It's better to judge artists individually, not by the genre they've been labled under.

I actually would love to see them doing anything with Florence (and the Machine). She's such a great singer and loves Green Day. But only that, I guess.

I think it would be nice if they did something with Emily's Army for Joey. It would help get the band some rep they deserve!

Merged with the existing collaboration thread we already had. Please search next time, although in fairness, the older thread hadn't been posted in for a couple of months.
